If there is a devotion to get, it is New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp. It takes a special gift to communicate the deep things of God in a simplistic way and that is why I subscribe to his blog and read his books. He is a great communicator of the truth.New Morning Mercies is the mercies we find in our relationship with God when we empty ourselves and pursue the truth. Each day starts with scripture and ends with a commentary. Each day you ...

This is a great, gospel centered devotional. My rating is simply based on comparison to my favorite devotionals. This is a good one, but I would still have a few others I would recommend before this one (namely Spurgeon's Morning and Evening).

This is the third time I have read this book. It is very good. Every day I read a short devotional on grace. That's it. Grace, grace, and more grace. This is probably the only book I would recommend people to buy lots of copies of and give them away. Really.

I've been reading this nearly daily since July. Great devotional.

I'll keep this review short & sweet: I do not normally like devotionals. The multiple times I've tried one, I've found them lacking. So when I say I really enjoyed New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp, I think that should tell even those who wrestle with finding a good devotional to give this one a try. Admittedly, I missed some days but I did find that there were some days where Tripp repeated a devotional. While some may find this annoying o...

I look forward to reading this every single morning. Probably my favorite daily devotional to date. Highly recommend

Devotionals can be a dime a dozen. The way they are laid out is almost as predictable as a crime show procedural. Readers know there will be an entry for each day and that the entry will not be very long. Usually there is a scripture to accompany the devotional and after each one is read a reader moves onto the next day. As a result, it is tough to add something new to the genre, but Paul Tripp does this with his yearly devotional, "New Morning M...

Great devotional! This is a book I am so glad I bumped into. I can see it impacting me already in a very positive way. I appreciate this author and the candor with which he writes.

Among the first things I do most mornings is look for the gospel trifecta of tweets from Paul Tripp. There is not much twitter activity to the former pastor, author, counselor, marriage seminar guru, but each day there are three quick reminders of the goodness of grace that is Jesus.Tripp has gone beyond the tweets and provided a wonderful devotional resource in his latest book New Morning Mercies: A Daily Gospel Devotional. Crossway offered a fr...

Are you reminded of your need for the gospel everyday? Frankly, for most of us, the answer is we’re not. This amnesia of ours is so bad even after we know the importance of the gospel, we somehow forget all about it again. So what can we do about it?The first step would be to get this devotion and use it. Paul Tripp has done an excellent job in this book by helping christians, young and old, to see how we need the gospel each and everyday. Ther...

On every page of this 365-day devotional Tripp reminds us of our need for God's grace every day. Covering such topics as sin, corporate worship, spiritual warfare and repentance, to name just a few, Tripp's words encourages us to set our minds on Jesus and the grace His life offers us.Each day's devotional starts with a short soundbite that introduces the day's theme or topic. Tripp then explores it via a personal reflection using Scripture to st...

I'm an Oswald Chambers girl, but my husband encouraged me to try this devotional. It's simply beautiful. I loved it and looked forward to it every morning. Very highly recommended!

I loved this and am planning to start all over again.

Best devotional that I've ever seen in terms of reminding me every day of the gospel. I need it! It's also now available in Spanish!!! Nuevas Misericordias Cada Mañana.

This is the best devotional I've yet to read. Each day's read is brief enough to be accommodating to my lifestyle as a busy mom, yet still packed full of truth and thought-provoking content. Every day it felt like exactly what I needed to read because it's all straight from the Bible, the Living Word. He does share personal thoughts and challenges, but it's not a book filled with himself. It's straight Bible application. And each day has scriptur...

I am generally not a big fan of devotionals, but the last few years I am getting more out of them. This one by Paul David Tripp was really great. God used this book to meet me right where I was on certain days. Other times, quite frequently actually, the daily reading would be in line with what I was journaling or would add clarity to situations in life that I am addressing. I strongly recommend this daily devotional. As I consider which devotion...

Best Daily Devotional EverThere are so many devotionals out there...some classic such as My Utmost for His Highest and some that will be here today and gone tomorrow. But this one will be my choice for the rest of my classic. The wisdom, depth (yet retaining humility and simplicity) and biblical truth of this book make it trustworthy and applicable to life. Every page is filled with the gospel of grace, reminding me to live in His grace...

Okay, so I am technically not finished with this one yet. But I've made it 346 days in and I feel pretty confident giving it a rating and since most folks want to have an annual devotional in their hands by Jan. 1 it made sense to jump the gun a bit. This is one of the best devotions I've ever worked through. It pushed me and challenged me in ways I wasn't always comfortable with, but it deepened my daily focus on God. Highly recommend this one.

Year-long devotional. As a professed fan of Paul David Tripp, I enjoyed this devotional due to his ability to create a personal, yet Biblically based journey through the year. It is common knowledge that the author has struggled with chronic illness and is quite honest about personal struggles, like parenting. Found this very encouraging.

My bottom line quiet moment When you have the luxury of time you should spend more than 5 minutes to connect with your Creator but there comes the toil of life when you just need to secure the bottom line not to go spiritual bankruptcy and this book does the job so well on this purpose. Nice reading as well.

This is a good devotional and is typical of Paul Tripp style, which is not a bad thing. It got somewhat repetitive, and since it was not based on any Bible reading program, it was not a balanced diet of the gospel the Scriptures have to offer. Yet, those things do not make it a bad devotional. It is still worth it and I will likely use it again, but those are some weaknesses to it.

Excellent daily devotional! I am grateful for this book and the inspiration it provided to be in God’s Word on a daily basis. Paul David Tripp is a gifted author and Pastor, and I truly appreciated the honest reflections he shared throughout this book. I recommend this to anyone looking for a daily devotion book - it’s definitely the best one I’ve come across for an adult.

I would have to say this is probably the best devotional I have read in a long Time! Very gospel centered! Each day's writing seemed to encourage or remind me of His truths that I really needed to hear. Paul Tripp has an engaging writing style so he is very easy to follow and be engaged by. I will pull this out again often!!

Superb devotional This Tripp devotional was superb. How good it was to be focused & re-focused on God's amazing grace throughout the year. I needed these daily reminders of His amazing grace that has been made so freely & wonderfully available to me through Jesus. Refreshing! Rejuvenating! And very, very encouraging & uplifting.

Best devotional! This is my favorite devotional. It is deeply thought provoking and touches deep places in my heart evoking honest meditations before God. We've given this as a gift to many of our friends.
  • Jessica Wilkins
One of the best yearly devotional books I've ever read. Tripp is brilliant in terms of delivering deep biblical truths in an easily relatable way. Such a great to start every morning in 2017 and definitely helped me through some difficult days. Would highly recommend this book!

Excellent devotional. Scripturally-based and sound, with plenty of references included throughout. It's simple, straight-forward, challenging, and points me to Jesus. It's not a fluffy, watered-down, simply-about-my-feelings devotional. And I love that.
  • Sara
This is one of my favorite devotionals ever. It has challenged and encouraged me so many times throughout the last year. Again and again, Tripp draws you into God's grace and mercy and also honestly and tenderly helps you see the sin in your life that needs rooted out.
