This is Debbie Lynne's debut full length novel! What a page turner!!! It was hard to turn off my Kindle each night as I was reading Sword of Forgiveness. Set in medieval times, our heroine, Lady Brithwin (isn't that a pretty name?) has known much sorry in her life. Her abusive father has died and now she can avoid the tortures he inflicted on her. She's being forced into a marriage with a man she doesn't know - Royce. Meanwhile our hero, Royce, r...

Sword of Forgiveness was one action-packed novel! It was also packed with a turbulent romance, danger, intrigue, and the gospel message. The hero and heroine had to overcome many obstacles to find their happily ever after, and it was quite the journey to get there!I thought the author did a very good job of immersing the reader in the midieval time period. I also loved the set up for the story, with the two main characters married yet unable to t...

I enjoyed the audio version of this book!I was running out of Audiobooks and discovered this one! I don't usually read or listen to medieval genres! I decided for the price I was willing to try it! I was quickly involved and pulled into the story! I haven't been able to concentrate on reading another book (I often read several at once), because I was so wrapped up in this one and needed to know how it would turn out! Wonderful clean romance! I hi...

I am pleased to have had an opportunity to read Debbie Lynn Costello’s medieval story Sword of Forgiveness. I have been a follower of Ms. Costello’s blog for a few years now and I was really excited that she was having her story published. I very much enjoy medieval stories and there is not a lot out there for the inspirational market. It is my favorite of all time periods to read. And what a story it was. In a time period where women were co...

"LOVED This Audio!"What did you love best about Sword of Forgiveness?I loved this story and I loved hearing Anne Flosnik narrate. This novel and the time period are intriguing! This book is so captivating, that I will definitely read more books by Debbie Lynn Costello and listen to Anne Flosnik again. What other book might you compare Sword of Forgiveness to and why?I don't know if it really compares, but I kept thinking of Romance of the Forest b...

Talk about starting off on the wrong foot! A very rocky beginning for two wonderfully flawed and headstrong characters, who are forced to be together, both having strong reasons not to trust each other. Past hurts, secrets and even murders threaten every aspect of Brithwin and Royce’s relationship. Not your average sweet medieval romance – this is a faith-filled, deeply moving, gritty and engaging tale of trust in God in every aspect of our l...

What a spectacular debut novel! Debbie Lynne Costello wowed me with this medieval romance! Opening the pages of this story was like stepping back in time and I found myself riveted by the drama that unfolded. Excellent characterization, rich historical details, and a stirring romance are just a few of the elements that bring this compelling story to life. As I read, the vivid images danced across my mind, as if playing on a movie screen. What an ...

I honestly did not know what to expect from this book before I read it (I actually thought it was set in the 1100s from the style of the armour shown on the cover when I first heard of it). For a first full length novel, it is certainly a good effort, with plenty going for in in terms of storyline, Romance and suspense. What I could say, however, it that sometimes the Historical Romance genre hampers the progress of stories like this....and for th...

I’m so excited for the release of this book by Debbie Lynne Costello. It is the first book I have read of hers. I’m always willing to try out a new author. It’s like opening a surprise package. Whenever I start a new book, I look for several things to happen right at the beginning of the book. I like to start getting to know the characters right away, and look for the author to give me clues regarding the story line. I like strong character...

This story is amazing! A great combination of sweet and suspense-filled, it is certainly one to read if you’re interested in Medieval tales. The setting itself is incredible, rich with detail, and obviously based on extensive research. There’s a wonderful glossary at the front with definitions of many medieval terms used throughout the book, which personally I love that it’s at the front, rather than hidden at the back and hard to find. And...

Prepare yourself to be swept away to a land of lords and ladies fair, of knights and castles, murder, betrayal, romance, and redemption. Author Debbie Lynne Costello, a promising new voice to Christian fiction, crafts a spellbinding story of a forced marriage, intrigue, and chivalry amid the backdrop of medieval England. Riveting and yet tender, this tale immerses the reader in authentic historical detail and passion. The hopes and conflicts of i...

To be completely honest, as first glance I wasn’t sure this was a book I would be interested in reading. However, after reading a blog “interview” with the main characters, I found myself intrigued. There is much at stake in Sword of Forgiveness. Not just land and holdings, but honor, courage, and broken hearts. I loved the characters. Brithwin has been hurt deeply, and trust does not come easily for her. Her journey seemed very realistic. R...

What a debut!Well, if her future novels even slightly compare to this one, Debbie Lynne Costello will be among my favorite authors. Sword of Forgiveness is a wonderful tale.... Life kept getting in my way. All I wanted to do was sit and keep reading....I've always said that if a story causes me to touch my hand to my chest and make me sigh, it is a winner! This tale had me doing this and much more....laughing, crying, cheering (Go Thor!) and rela...

I love the arranged marriage plotline and the medieval setting so the book description really piqued my interest. Aside from the usual obstacles that the hero/heroine face in arranged marriages, Royce suspects that his wife, Brithwin, may be responsible for his family's murder. Both Brithwin and Royce are likable, well-drawn characters. I liked the natural growth of their relationship, their love wasn't rushed. The spiritual component in this boo...

A Christian historical romance that will captivate you with strong characters and medieval settings. I found it so hard to step away from this story and turn off my kindle until I'd gotten to the end. When Lady Birthwin's abusive father dies, she is relieved to be out from under a man's authority. However, when a marriage is arranged for her to Royce, both knight and lady are filled with distrust. Royce's family is brutally murdered and now he mu...

Exciting medieval romanceBrinwith has grown up with a father who completely ignored her except when he was beating her or punishing her. What relief she felt when he died. She never wanted to be at the mercy of a man again. That was not to be, however, for a woman, no matter how intelligent and capable, was not permitted to exist without having a man to tell her how to think and act.She and her estate are given to Sir Royce by King Richard and no...

Sword of Forgiveness is such a touching story, it made my heart ache time and again. This novel grabbed me from the beginning and ricocheted me through the raging waters of the story to the last page. It is quite a ride! I did not want to put this book down. This is an exciting tale of castles and knights; and lords and ladies. It is also a story of harsh realities of medieval times, diabolical betrayals and—by our standards--cruel punishments....

More like 2.5 but rounding up here. This is one of those fluffy fiction books that are cheesy yet you keep reading (or skimming) to find out what happens. I enjoyed the escape from reality that this book gave me. It is not historically accurate, the Christian speak is very modern, among other things. That usually doesn't bother me but it seemed kind of jarring in some parts of this book. I appreciated a clean read that promotes love, forgiveness,...

An absolutely wonderful book! The author takes you back to medieval England, 1398, a time when knights were abundant, Lords married Ladies without love by arrangement of the king, death was a way for one to ascend to levels unwanted and unplanned and forgiveness – what did that have to do with any of this? Lady Brithwin of Hawkwood has much to forgive, but can she trust God enough to do this? Her life has been anything but easy, and yet there d...

What a great medieval story! Imagine the king commanding you to marry someone you had never met! Debbie Lynne Costello did a great job describing the emotions of both Royce of Hawkwood and Lady Brithwin. The book has some surprising turns near the end. The descriptions of life in that era were wonderful although they were a little bloody at times! I am fascinated by life in England and Scotland during that time period. I certainly recommend Sword...

Sword of Forgiveness, written by Mrs. Debbie Lynne Costello, is a lovely book filled with romance and adventure-my favorite topic. This book kept me on my toes and I never wanted to put it down. The relationship between the characters made me laugh out loud on various occasions. The Biblical input in this story was inspiring, I cant wait till the next book comes out! I definitely recommend it to everyone I meet! :)

Sword of Forgiveness is an extremely well written historical love story. Knights and castles have always fascinated me and this book was most enjoyable. The conversations rang true to what I understand them to have been in those days. I truly felt as though I was part of this story line. I rooted for the good guys and boo/hissed the bad guys. All in all, a book I highly recommend to those who like historical fiction. I was given a copy of this bo...

Enjoyable read with interwoven gospelGreat read with romance, rebellion, and resentment. Heroine is a godly woman of strengthening faith, hero is sinner feeling unworthy of love and God's forgiveness. Throw in some evil characters and you find yourself quickly turning the page to see what happens next.

Sword of forgiveness was not unlike many other romance medieval novels, just with a different cast of characters and a plot that didn't surprise as much as I suspect it was supposed to. Having said all that I still enjoyed the story, I loved the characters and their interaction, and I was surprised by at least one plot twist. Overall a good read.

Wow....I am a new fan of medieval Christian fiction. This is a can't put this book down moment. It has drama, romance, suspense, historical, Faith, love, etc all mixed together and the outcome is stupendous. The characters grow and are well developed and the writing is well thought out. At times I wanted to shake Brithwin and Royce and tell them to wake up.
