One of the very few tournament arcs where I wasn't bored to tears (looking at you, Shokugeki no Soma) and as a matter of fact I actually enjoyed it! I'm glad it wasn't overly long and that they already introduced the character who will start up the next arc.Just have to say though ...(view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)]😭 ... my kokoro ...

•those fights were EPIC. •Midoriya, Bakugo and (the star of this volume) Shoto Todoroki’s character development is what I’m living for right now. •seems like the plot is getting progressively darker. •some of the scenes almost made me cry. •Ochaco and Tenya are the cutest I love

Hell yeah! Another amazing volume full of thrills, twists and even more impressive character development. What I loved about this tournament arc is how entirely unpredictable it was until the very end, and it served as a great base for getting more familiar with the characters as well as just being an insanely entertaining action romp. It reminded me a lot of Dragon Ball’s earlier Strongest Under The Heavens tournaments, which I hold as the gol...

Kohei Horikoshi and the assistants, back at it again with another FANTASTIC volume!!! This series just gets my heart racing and feeling good so much more than any other series out there!! It really pissed me off when my (ex)friend said they didn't like the series when they watched the anime, because the manga is so good!!! All the exclamation points!!!!!!!!! This series just gets me so hype because it's so good and I love it so much. The characte...

4.5 stars. I recommend reading this volume with "You Say Run" off the official soundtrack playing on repeat. My Hero Academia volume 5 - Todoroki Shouto: Origin, aka that volume where, if you're anything like me, Todoroki has likely jumped from being an "eh" character to one of your favorites. Shouto needs *so* many hugs."Aiming for the top" and "What it means to be a hero", two of the main themes of the series, are in full focus in this volume. A...

The real meat of the UA festival happens here, and it’s every bit as exciting as the anime. It’s kind of shocking how precisely the animated version followed the manga.

Every time I finish a volume of this series I want to say 'YES, THIS ONE IS MY FAVOURITE!' because every chapter and every page is so brilliant I want to scream it from the rooftops! Ah! There's SO MUCH Bakugo in this volume which is great!! His character is crazy and I just want to tell him to chill for a second, but I really hope we get to see him in a more fragile manner because right now you can see the look in the teachers' eyes like 'damn t...

The tournament arc finishes off with quite a bang in this issue, with lots of high-flying action. But beneath that, there are some interesting comparisons being woven between Midoriya, Todoroki, and even Ida to some extent. I won't spoil what they are, but they present an angle of looking at these characters that I hadn't considered before.Overall, a very good volume, with the right mix of action, drama, and plot advancement (with something towar...

June 2017: 5 StarsFive fucking stars yo. This volume was freaking amazing in terms of development. I feel like the next anime episode, which will feature the fight between Todo and Bakugo will kick my emotional ass. Also, can I say I love father figure All Might? It's such a small detail but I love that he gave each of the winners a hug. What a guy!(Tiny spoiler ahead?)Dying to see what happens with Todo and his mum!!!

This series just keeps getting better and better. This whole volume is non-stop battles as they continue to fight for the championship of the first year students. Everybody's quirks are so cool and there are some great match-ups. We learn a lot about Todoroki's character and his background this volume and I love how the winner was unpredictable. Also near the end, the next arc is set-up as we meet a villain who is on a hero serial killing spree. ...

Dengan susah payah tim Izuku berhasil melewati tahap kedua, namun putaran final mempertemukan 16 finalis paling hebat, termasuk Bakugou dan Todoroki yg menyimpan bara masing2. Suka dengan back story-nya Todoroki. Kegamangan yg diresakannya tersampaikan dengan bagus sekali ke pembaca.Ok, break dulu stlh 5 tankubon. Stuff I liked: Ochaco and her determination and character development as we get to see her family and relationships more clearly.Todoroki remains a tragic and conflicted character, so he is easy to sympathize with. Some of the action is exciting.I like Midoriya’s intense desire to do the right thing, even when it hurts.Stuff I didn’t care for: some of the fights seemed a little uninteresting to me.The limits of the powers of the characters ar...

This volume is the climax of the sports festival. Midoriya vs Todoroki was so moving that I still remember each panels of it. After this battle, a new enemy appears and makes the story more tensed.

Awesome plus character development First I watched the series before I started reading the manga. (I'm actually up to date on the manga) This volume is beautiful in displaying the fights and starts the character development for one of my favorite characters. There are some funny and teary eye moments. Bakugo is still a first class arse but his drive and know-how as well as his decided path is interesting and brings depth to him. Deku! is still De...

This volume takes us through the end of the U.A. Sports Festival, which was a fun and interesting story arc. I'm really enjoying experiencing this story again in a different format. I like the extra background information that is compiled in between each issue within the manga volume.

I really loved this volume it was so action packed and intense I kind of didn't want the tournament to end. I'm still surprised by who won the whole thing. I loved seeing Todoroki coming to terms with his fathers side of him and I love Izuku helped to do that.

This volume contained some super awesome fight scenes that just reiterate how much I adore this series. Midoriya's positivity could be related to Naruto, and I see a lot of similarities especially to Naruto's younger years.
