{February 5th, 2016} INTITAL THOUGHTS5 nostalgic stars.Since this is an on-going serialization, I have to do this differently primarily because I HAVE FEELINGS. While the intital reports had mentioned that Fruits Basket Another was a sequel, there was no mention of how far in the timeline it meant. It does not take place a couple years after Tohru, Yuki, Kyou, and the others graduated; it features their children. The surprise was startling as we ...

Well. I was thrilled to see that a sequel of Fruits Basket had been published. However, I was extremely disappointed to realise when I finished reading it that :1) The sequel was not completed (and I have no idea if it ever will be);2) This sort of brought back the little things that I couldn't stand in Fruits Basket, rather than reminding me of all the things that I loved about this series.Let me expand on my 2) point. I absolutely adored the Fr...

Welcome to a review I never expected to have to write because who thought Furuba/Fruits Basket would get a continuation/sequel series?I'm not gonna bother marking this as spoilers - if you read Furuba then nothing in this volume will spoil you for who got with who. If you didn't read Furuba, why are you reading this and second you won't likely understand the references that are spoilers so it doesn't matter.Furubana is...confusing. At least if yo...

Rating 3.5 stars (rounded up) for this intro volume. There's so much potential given how lovely the original series was. I'm curious to see where the author takes this.

I really hate when in sequels the next generation are carbon copies of all their parents. Whether that's because the author is unoriginal and can only write the same sets of characters or if it's the audience's inability to let go of their favorites, it seems to be really prevalent right now with anime/manga sequels. This series shows promise with their main heroine, Sawa Mitoma. In many ways, I can see how relatable and important she can grow to...

I'm interested to see where this story will go. It doesn't have the added wildness of characters becoming animals (as the original story) but it does have how the next generation after the curse is dealing with how life is now (while those surrounding them still remember the curse, etc.). Also, I won't mind if this is more of an emotional slice-of-life, I always enjoyed that aspect of the original series more than the curse plotline anyway - even...

Fruits Basket the original manga practically raised me and made me who I am today, but... this story is just kind of fanfiction. Definitely gives me nostalgia and inspires me to go reread the series though.

Way to go!!I cannot wait for the next book. I did feel a little deja vu from the original series but hey this is a continuation/spinoff of the first series so to be expected. All in all I'm in this for the long haul.

Fruits Basket was one of my first manga series and I always felt like it ended abruptly. This was a nice tie-in to see how the end of the curse would go on to affect the Sohmas. When a young Hajime is compared to his father and he notices his father's tension, it shows how deep the trauma of Kyo's youth affected him even as an adult. I look forward to the next volume!

This neither added nor subtracted from the original series, but as Fruits Basket is my greatest manga love of all time. I was disappointed and just plain confused as to why this even exists. So I went in biased and because of that, one should not trust this review. LOL. I wont be reading volume 2.

The Return of the SohmasWith this new entry into the Sohma Saga, a lot here is familiar. You have the adoring High School fangirls of the Sohma boys, the wayward girl who's pulled in by them, and the interesting family politics. But there's also a new element of what life is like for this family presumably post-curse. Looking forward to reading the next installment!

I'm really enjoying this. Maybe it's because I identify with the main character so much

Tämä on aivan ihana! Samaan aikaan koskettava ja hauska, aivan kuten alkuperäinen sarja. Huvittavaa, miten ilman tarkempiakin esittelyjä osaa yhdistää lapsen ja vanhemmat. :D

This manga volume makes me feel very nostalgic, very similar to the original work. Could be a hit or miss.

Natsuki Takaya stays the master of emotions and Fruit Basket Another is a welcomed back return into the Furuba universe.

As someone who read the original Fruits Basket manga when it came out, I was tormented for a long time that this series wasn't translated. Now, at last, I can read it.And I'm not disappointed. It was so much fun seeing the next generation of Sohmas and trying too figure out who their parents were. It also taught me I need to re-read Fruits Basket as there were some secondary characters I'd forgotten about!I immediately empathise with Mitoma. One ...

I wasn't sure what to make of this...I had warm fuzzies just opening it up. Fruits Basket is probably hands down my favorite manga and anime (in that order). It's so sweet and always lifts me up when I'm feeling down. It's my go to cheer up. That feel is here too. BUT...It's different. I get that, there are Sohmas that aren't the Sohmas that I know. I want to try and tie them back to Sohmas I know, but while there may be some hints there's no dir...

What unmistakable, shameless fluff! (And I mean this in the best possible sense.) Ah, what to say? I adore the main heroine already, as I find myself empathizing with her on almost every page— perpetually unsure of herself, always second-guessing, always over-analyzing the situation & assuming she's bothering people/that she isn't wanted... To the point that it becomes almost sadly funny whenever she learns the contrary. RELATABLE, MY FELLOW AN...

I loved the original Fruits Basket, so I had to pick this one up. I did really like this, and Takaya's art style has improved a ton from the original series, but in other areas it was lacking. I felt as though we were introduced to a load of characters all at once and it was hard to keep track of them all. The first series had a huge cast but they were introduced much more gradually. Also, it's kind of odd that a lot of the main characters are ne...

9 cups of tea out of 11I was nervous going into this but I'm so glad I gave this a try. A scene with the main character even made me cry. I will proceed with cautious optimism. There are references to characters in the first series but this volume firmly focuses on their descendants. The main character is not part of the Sohma clan though. For more of my thoughts check out my blog post https://thegreentealibrarian.wordpres...

A very solid 3.5 stars. This is the first manga I’ve bought in almost 10 years. As soon as I saw the title I knew I had to have it. Fruits Basket was my absolute favorite series. This sequel brought me right back to why I love manga. I’m still not sure exactly where the plot is going, but I’m excited to find out.

Volume Review: 5/5Okay, getting back into the Fruits Basket world took a bit for me but I was so happy. And it's mysterious to me who everyone's parents are. I love it. The main character is a bit dopey as usual. However, it looks promising and I'm excited to keep reading this series! So glad it was picked up!I own this volume.Series Review: tbd (not complete yet)

I'm so excited to revisit the fruits basket world and not only as a re-read. I've only had speculation to which kids belong to the original fruits baskets characters but I could be wrong. I hadn't realized that there was only one volume out so I may wait to read the others. I dislike waiting so long for other volumes considering how fast I read them.

Natsuki won me over with Fruits Basket. She knows how to write a story that's philosophical and emotionally driven. Fruits Basket Another is a success as it pulls at my heart strings and made me fall head over heels in love with the characters. It's hard to read this and not feel joy at Sara's triumphs and tear up through her emotional moments. I'm a fan and can't wait for the next book!

I don't want to spoil...but if you ever wanted to read about the Sohma clan growing up and having kids...this is it. Not sure how plot is going to go. But just having all the fan moments is wonderful.
