This Is Me Letting You Go

Letting go is not a process that comes naturally to us. In a world that teaches us to cling to what we love at all costs, there is an undeniable art to moving on – and it’s one that we are constantly relearning. In this series of honest and poignant essays, Heidi Priebe explores the harsh reality of what it means to let go of the people and situations we love most - often before we are ready to – and how to embrace what comes next.

I had no clue before reading that this was the mastermind behind one of my favorite sayings: the people we meet at the wrong time are actually just the wrong people. Which I shared last year in my review for Rania Naim's All The Words I Should Have Said. I don't talk about book recommendations here very much.. but I've read this recently. This book is not "deep" nor is it going to tell you things you don't already know. It isn't at all what I expected. It's perfect for the broken hearted, the newly broken-up, the world-weary, the lonely. Helps move you through the wide range of emotions while dealing with heartbreak of any kind. It's written in such that you view the index and turn to the page yo...

this was a fast and easy read; the forgiveness, being tired, wanting to be alone and the 14 things we should forgive ourselves chapters/sections made my heart ache because I related so much. I guess I just didn’t connect with relationships and love part as of yet but still a good read. I love books like these because I can slowly see myself growing everyday and becoming more stronger just by reading these words. The past doesn’t define you an...

“After all, we never know how much time’s left. Maybe anyone worth knowing is worth knowing for only a short while. Maybe anyone worth loving is worth loving inconclusively.”What a loving, tender, truly amazing book. Now that I’ve finished, I’m sure I’ll come back every now and then to reread something that I need to hear, but probably am too afraid to tell myself. This is the kind of book you never let go of.

I really loved this book. I used it in an attempt to recover from losing my best friend and I've got to tell you, even though a lot of this book was about romantic love, it really, really helped. There's so much self-love in this book and so much logic and there was so much I needed to hear. I very much appreciate this title and might come back to it again soon.

I will keep this book closeReading the words that describe my heartache, confusion, fear and loneliness at the end of my 32 year marriage was somehow liberating. The chapters were easy to read and thought provoking. I was left feeling while not better but more hopeful.

Warning a little personal here ... but today one of my best friends departed for Africa and I will not see or speak to her for most likely 2 years and a few weeks before losing her I had to face the exit of a person who was in my life extensively for about a year so, needless to say, this book was exactly what I needed. It is really short, yet it was great for me to find closure amidst sudden changes taking place in my life in such a short time f...
