3,5- 4 stars I haven't read a book from Jamie McGuire in years so I didn't know what to expect from this. This was definitely an interesting and unique story!I find myself captivate in the story!I was hooked from the first pages.Catherine and Elliot are both unique characters.Their relationship was sweet.I don't want to give anything away from the story.I think it's better to go in this one blind, it will make it more enjoyable!I enjoyed the premi...

I knew it in my heart that for as long as I live, I would love this author's work. That was 7 years ago. I love McGuire's stories. They are always so entertaining as well as heartfelt, with characters that are unbelievably hard to forget. Which is why when I saw her latest release I picked it up without hesitation. And while I did enjoy this and it will definitely be one that I won't be forgetting anytime soon I'm finding it very hard to review. It was good, I liked it but it was also very..strange. The story dragged a bit at times and while the big "...

This was unusual, a ya that had a romance holding everything together, but the romance wasn't the most interesting part of this story for me. Let me explain. The story had a dark, creepy vibe to it and for the longest time, I couldn't figure out if it was a pnr or a thriller or....idk. It was most intriguing.I won't spoil it, but finally the penny dropped at around half way in and then it all began to make more sense. Guessing the big central myst...

I received this eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review. Elliott's parents fight. A lot. So much, that when summer comes, Elliott goes to his aunt and uncle's house in Oklahoma to get away from the yelling and screaming and things breaking. And Elliott loves going to her aunt and uncles place - so much so that he almost wishes that he lives there full time. Though his mother won't allow that, since she got bullied a lot about being Na...

All the Little Lights is a novel where most people would keep guessing throughout what exactly is going on. Catherine, one of our main characters, has a secret she’s desperate to hide and even though we’re seeing things from her POV, she doesn’t let us know what it is. Which is exactly why a lot of people would be hooked, trying to figure out her secret - as did I, for some time.Since she’s trying to hide her secret for everyone, Catherin...

This book started out a little slow but really picked up about half way through or so. It held my attention because the story is super interesting and I love both the main characters but until Elliott comes back for good, it is kind of slow. Elliott falls in love with Catherine when he is like 8 and sees her through his camera lens. He sees her every summer but never talks to her until the summer after their freshman year. Catherine lives in a bi...

OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OH MY GOD WHAT WAS THAT!!This book took a whole 180 on me and now my emotions are all over the place. I'm writing this review hours after reading this book but I still cannot process what happened. For some people this book might start slow but believe me, you will not be disappointed. I actually liked the starting because I found it cute how Elliott and Catherine met each other when they were young and all- those parts wer...

I’ve been given an advanced reading copy of this book by Montlake Romance via Netgalley but it had no influence on my willing and always honest review. 5 “I've been tricked” stars!   When I learned that Jamie McGuire would publish a new book I requested this one immediately and …crossed my fingers. I was really overjoyed when I learned I could read it because: The cover is so pretty :-D ; I had a good feeling and so far my intuition nev...

Wow. This book was a huge surprise. I've never had the chance to pick up any of this author's other books, even though I have heard good things about them. This book has made me consider picking up her other works, as I really enjoyed this book. This book essentially follows two characters, Elliott and Catherine as they fall madly in love with each other during the summer after their freshman year. Unfortunately, a tragedy occurs in Catherine's f...

To say I’m stunned is an understatement comparable to watching a meteor fall from the sky and slam into the ground right in front of you. The book started off slowly almost dreamily from the first moment a young Elliott Youngblood spots Catherine Calhoun from his perch in a tree. Sweetly he wins her over though it takes him two summers before he racks up the courage to approach her. When tragedy strikes, the best friends are separated. Two years...

Every Summer Elliott Youngblood would come and stay with his Aunt Leigh and Uncle John in the small town where his mother grew up. He would come to get a break from his arguing parents. One summer, he was climbing a tree and spotted a young girl named Catherine. From that Summer, they would hang out and became the best of friends. The pair were inseparable, and Elliott found a friend with Catherine despite the growing rumors of her odd family. On...

Note: I received an eARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review! So. I really, really wanted to like this book. The truth is I don't now how I feel about it at all, and that bothers me. It had all the makings of being something really, really good but it was both slow at times and a little to ambitious at others, and that just made it fall very short for me.The beginning of the story was cute, about how they met when they wer...

4.5 Stars - .5 Flames I've been sitting at my computer desk trying to figure out how to start this review? It's not that I didn't like the book, it's that it actually hits extremely close to home. Maybe that's why I liked it so much. Maybe that's why I'm ranking it so high. Maybe. But, it's also because this was beautifully told story. One that I can actually see becoming a movie. Elliott isn't your typical kid. From a very young age he's had to ...

What a lovely story covering first love and high school teen drama, as well as being sweet, it also had some, in my mind, angsty chapters, it definitely kept me on my toes. The story follows Elliott Youngblood and Catherine Calhoun who bond as youngsters when Elliott spends summers at his Aunt’s home in Catherine’s hometown of Oak Creek. A town full of small minded people with chips on their shoulders. That aside they bond and become lifelong...

Now that I've finished ATLL I've glanced over some reviews. I understand that this book is quite different from a lot of Ms. McGuire's other novels. I myself feel that it shows the diversity of her writing skills and that if I wanted the same regurgitated story then I'd just reread something I know I already love. I've seen a lot of reviews that say it was "Strange" and you know what it totally was and that's what really drew me in. I'm kinda str...

I absolutely LOVED this book. I’m still reeling from what I’ve just read. All The Little Lights is haunting, and heartbreakingly astounding. My heart aches for Catherine with every word I read. I wanted so much for her as I was reading, she felt like a good friend who was in trouble and needed help. Jamie McGuire Captured the essence of the characters perfectly creating a profoundly dark and heartbreaking story. Extremely well written and det...

2.5 starsThis is the first book I've read by McGuire. I've heard good things about her books, but this wasn't quite what I was expecting. It dragged a bit too much for me, though it did pick up by the end. However, it was a bit too late, in my opinion. The mystery wasn't as compelling as I had hoped. This book deals with topics that could be a trigger for some readers (such as mental illness, racism, bullying, and domestic abuse). Longtime fans o...

All the little lights of this book did not make a big star of it. It was emotional and lovely, heart aching and sad, mysterious as a starting point but with a secret interwoven that it came to be predictable for me. The buildup of the story to the intriguing parts was a little slow, missing maybe a better hook when the action turned. It wasn’t a bad story per se, just not leaving a mark on me.Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley! I received an arc. And I cannot even begin. This book had me hooked from page 1. Super super good. The story sucks you in and makes you think you know what’s about to happen until well you’ll have to read to find that out!!

An intriguing YA story that grips you from the start. Great character development and a hidden element that keeps you hooked until the end. Highly recommend this book.
