Reviews Chilling Adventures of Sabrina #6

Alternative Salem Witch storyThe familiars tell their stories. Salem the cat tells about his past and the curse from the Salem Witches that made him a cat. Interesting and non-gory volume for once.

I usually don't read single issues but since my local library jumped on the bandwagon with Hoopla, I've taken advantage of not having to wait until some of my favorite series publish volume collections. Issue #6, That Damned Cat, tells the story of how Salem became to be a familiar. In addition, we also get the side story of Sabrina's cousin's familiars, two King Cobras, which being afraid of snakes as I am, I was not a real fan of. However, even...

While this issue focused less on Sabrina and more on the familiars, this was by far the most compelling of this spectacular series to date.
  • Hope (HopelessBookAddict)
AwesomeI loved getting these characters backstories! I’ve always wondered Salem’s and the snakes had a good one too! I liked how it brought historical like elements into it too!

Salem tells his storyIn this issue we get a chance to find out how Salem ended up in his cat form. Turns out he was a typical guy and made an enemy of the wrong woman who found a novel way to punish. We also got another story of transformation that was interesting. This was a nice way to segue into the next stage of the story that is sure to bring even more trouble for our young witch.

Can't get over the mouse being eaten.

Pretty stoked these are on prime reading. Love the art and the writing. This references quite a few folk tales.
  • Alyssa (Books Take You Places)
Very cool to learn of Salem’s origins...
  • Dylan
    3 stars.I just don't care about backstories.
  • Alex Salmeron
  • Megan
Loved getting this Salem's backstory, plus all the fun references to other things

4.5★Salem sin duda es mi personaje favorito, conocer su origen, porque fue convertido en gato y la misión que tiene ha sido muy interesante y le dio un poco de “calma” a lo que se viene el próximo volumen.
  • Priya
What an interesting and dark take on Salem's origin story! Damn, this series keeps getting better!
  • Mel
This was my least favourite so far. After the resurection at the end of the last issue I really wanted to know what happened! I didn't want a whole issue about the snakes and the cat! Especially when it turned out they were kinda horrible. I think my only real criticism of this series is despite having her name in the title Sabrina is hardly the main character at all!
  • Serena
Great story of the cobras telling Salem how they became cobras and Salem telling them his story of how he was turned into a cat. He was definitely a douch as a human and I didn't feel bad for him but still love me some Salem.

This one is all about the familiars in this series. The history behind these characters is fabulous even though they did bad things to become what they are now. This volume just might be my favorite one.
  • Mathew Carruthers
Unholy cow! This title just keeps getting better - every issue brings more nuance and color to the characters and story. This one ties in some literary history to the the support characters - pretty cool.

Enjoyed Salem’s Story It was interesting after so many years of being a fan of the tv sitcom to learn the more darker version of events that lead Salem to his downfall as a familiar.
  • Tony Boyles
Fun side story, doesn't advance the core plot much.
  • Kayla (onthefritz)
A little side-step issue about Salem and how he became a cat.
  • Daniela
    Salem’s story is fantastic.
  • Emilio
3.5 Great insight towards a favorite character.

It was interesting to hear Salem's side of the story. Btw the Cobra twins give me the chill.
  • David Hanna
MUCH better than the first 5 issues. Hopeful the story picks up and works better. And the art cleans up well.
  • Val Cuellar
Honestly, I prefer the Salem that wanted to conquer the world instead of the womanizer Salem.
  • Rainey
    Love the backstories.
  • Erin Tuzuner
An interlude about familiars between story arcs.
  • Amara
Witch: Abigail WilliamsNot a witch: John ProctorPossibly a witch: Kipling This combined both Salem witches with Rikki Tikki Tavi. How could I not love it?
