Kudos to Kerry Lonsdale for breaking out into something new; while this story holds true to her previous themes that fall heavily in the women’s fiction genre, this story had an entirely different feel to it. I’ll be honest, I didn’t realize based on the description that this book had a paranormal element to it, but the author played it off well and gave it more of a magical realism projection than anything too heavily supernatural. While E...

I've read amazing things about newer author, Kerry Lonsdale's, books, and this was my first one written by her. While there is a strong paranormal element (some of the women are "gifted" with insights of different types), the themes of the book are family secrets, mother-daughter relationships, grief, and loss. Lonsdale has a great writing style with impeccable pacing. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from her!

Molly Brennan is a single mother raising an eight year old daughter Cassie in California. Cassie is plagued with daily nightmares. These nightmares are horrible visions of life-threatening events that will happen to her friends at school. Molly grew up with these psychic abilities as did the generations of women before her.Cassie has warned a friend at school about a future event and saves the child’s life. This is the second time Cassie has pr...

Kerry Lonsdale continues with another heartfelt tale, following her debut, Everything We Keep, with her latest upcoming, ALL THE BREAKING WAVES —an emotional family domestic suspense saga of dark secrets, mystery, and magical realism. Lonsdale paints a vivid portrait of a contemporary family filled with secrets, strife and ultimately—love.ALL THE BREAKING WAVES is a mystery suspense with strong twists of romantic, historical, and paranorm...

I was in the middle of a bunch of heavy books so this was just the ticket. It is lighter but still explores serious issues like control and alcoholism, with strong psychic women who make jewelry out of sea glass. (I'm a sucker for psychics.) This is probably classified as chick lit or romance and would make the perfect beach read. Thanks to the publisher for letting me read it early!

Update @ 10%Okay, I’ve given it a full hour of audio time, or 10% of the total book, which is more than double my minimum 20 minutes that I usually give before DNF’ing a book. It’s just not well-written. The narrative gives details from a first person point of view that normally belong to a 3rd person POV, even sometimes making observations that would be belong to 3rd person omniscient. It’s just not plausible that someone is going to be ...

All of my reviews can be found on www.novelgossip.comI absolutely loved Lonsdale’s debut novel Everything We Keep and after reading her follow up All The Breaking Waves I am now an even bigger fan. This book had all the same wonderful elements that shone so beautifully in EWK; polished writing, a gripping plot and characters that leave a lasting impression.Molly was a character that I could relate to on all levels. She’s a mom who loves her e...

This book was the worst kind of ridiculous!I had hopes for it based on the premise that it started out with but the author seemed not to know if the ‘abilities’ were believable or something out of a fantasy novel. Premonitions I can get behind… the part where she starts alluding to her ‘abilities’ being able to compel people to do things against their will was a bit misplaced. The author is not talented enough for the way that she’s ch...

All the Breaking Waves was an enjoyable read that had an interesting and unique plot I wasn't expecting. After fleeing from her home in Pacific Grove twelve years ago, Molly has avoided returning as much as possible. Instead she has made a life for herself and her eight year old daughter Cassie teaching art history and crafting jewelry made from sea glass. When Cassie begins experiencing horrific visions and nightmares, Molly knows she has to retu...

Blending elements of magic and mystery, ALL THE BREAKING WAVES, is a compelling portrayal of one mother’s journey as she grapples with her small daughter’s horrific visions that force her to confront a haunting secret from her past. Examining issues of love, loss and the often-fragile ground of relationships and forgiveness, this tenderly told story will have you turning the pages long past midnight.

Thanks to the author who provided me with a copy of this novel, through a giveaway. There was no requirement to do a review, however, I will do one all the same! Haunted by a tragic accident, Molly Brennan left her past behind and moved to a new city, hoping to raise her young daughter and forget about the mistakes in her past. When her daughter, Cassie, starts having horrible night terrors and psychic visions, Molly must return to the town she ...

I see I'm in the minority here with my three stars, but that's okay. I did enjoy it, but I had some issues with it. Most of them would be spoilers, however. I'll just say I didn't find the characters quite as likeable as I should have. That would have been the day I would have dared to tell my grandmother she couldn't drink in her own house! I didn't really find Molly as charming as others. Also, if the age of the child hadn't been mentioned, I w...

Kerry managed another page turner that delves into the paranormal along with family matters. A lil different from something I'd normally read but good!

I am currently doing research for my second book and trying to figure out a good plot. I discovered this book while exploring the Amazon US bestsellers list. I had a plot in mind, and the book blurb seemed to be a bit similar to it. And the fact that this was in the bestsellers list prompted me to read this book. However, I later came to realize that the book had so many layers that my plot seemed contrived and too one-dimensional, so I finally d...

All the Breaking Waves is a mesmerizing, heartfelt book about family secrets, lost love, and the sacrifices we all make for the people that we love. Molly Brennan's young daughter, Cassie, has been plagued by horrifying nightmares; nightmares which are preceded by premonitions about her friends at school. Seeking help from her grandmother, Molly reluctantly returns home, a place filled with tragic memories for Molly; a place where Molly must lear...

In All the Breaking Waves, author Kerry Lonsdale blends a masterful tale of magic realism and family saga. With its heartfelt characters and relationships—generational, maternal, and a long-ago romance—we are drawn into Molly’s world. While her intuitive gifts may be ethereal, her fears, hopes for her daughter, and personal desires are extraordinarily relatable. Woven with a thread of pure magic, Lonsdale crafts an intriguing story of love,...

I'm so thrilled that I received an early copy of this book to read and review. I loved this book! Devoured it in one weekend because I had a hard time putting it down. It covers so many themes, such as regret, fear, loss, forgiveness, acceptance, family and hope. I don't want to give too much away but it is a little genre bending. It combines mystery, romance, and a touch of magical realism all at once. I really enjoyed the mother-daughter bond, ...

I finished this book in 24 hours, which is something I can only say of one other book I've ever read. It's gripping page-turner that combines women's fiction and magical realism (which I don't usually like, but didn't bother me in this book) in a story of love, loss, relationships and fierce protective parental instincts. I've honestly never read anything like this story. The reason I took off one star is that something felt off in this book to me...

I feel bad giving this a 2 star review because clearly I am in the minority. I'm afraid that this story line is just not my cup of tea. I guess I was expecting more of a mystery / thriller type book but it wasn't. I'm not really into all that psychic babble.I do have a copy of her other novel Everything We Keep. I'm hoping that one is better.

Salve readers.

This book was riveting from the beginning to the very last page. Molly, eight-year-old Cassie, Nana Mary, and Owen are delightful and believable characters. Molly's daughter, plagued by visions and terrible nightmares that always seem to come to light, has a frightening nightmare about Molly. Molly and her Nana Mary both have psychic abilities as well so after this last horrifying nightmare, she decides to take Cassie to visit Nana Mary in her ch...

I was swept away to a magical place with this beautiful story, All The Breaking Waves! From the first descriptions of Molly's treasured sea glass, I felt like I was on the beach with her sensing the incredible feeling of finding these wonderful colorful pieces. Molly's keen talent for designing jewelry from sea glass was like her innate ability, the incredible gift she had for sensing premonitions. She feared this surreal ability that she and her...

Another riveting book from Kerry Lonsdale! If you think your family has secrets, you've got nothing on the family in this book. Molly and her daughter, Cassie, are damaged but real characters. I found their journey home and the results to be gut-wrenching, heart breaking and heart melting. This is a book you have to finish quickly as you cannot stop reading.Kudos to Lonsdale on her sophomore book!

Loved All The Breaking Waves! What an intriguing, unique story. I was engrossed with all of the characters and the many mysteries. The love between Molly, Cassie, Owen and Nana is palpable. I found the premise of the story imaginative, thoughtful, suspenseful and heartbreaking all at once. Kerry Lonsdale has become a favorite author of mine and I cannot wait to read her future novels!
