Spies, Lies, and Allies by Lisa Brown Roberts

Spies, Lies, and Allies

Summers are supposed to be fun, right? Not mine. I’ve got a job at my dad’s company, which is sponsoring a college scholarship competition. I just found out that, in addition to my job assisting the competing interns, I’m supposed to vote for the winner. Totally not what I signed up for.My boss is running the competition like it’s an episode of Survivor. Then there’s Carlos, who is, well, very distracting––in a good way. But I can...

4.25 Totally Adorable Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.25I’ve read quite a few books this week that were dark and had very unlikable characters, so I needed a pallet cleanser and this was perfect... fun, filled with lovely characters, a positive message, romance, and friendship.... nothing makes me smile quite like a good contemporary YA even though I am no longer part of that target audience... nor have I been for a very long long time.... but I am stil...

RATING: 4.3/5*I recieved an e-ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own*I've been on a huge contemporary kick ever since April started (read about 6 so far) and this is definitely one of my favorites!😍❤High school senior Laurel Kristoff doesn’t want to spend her summer working for her father at his evil empire, but if she doesn’t, he’s yanking her future college tuition. Once on the job, Laurel is thr...

Mini review:I received this E-ARC via Entangled Publishing and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. When I had initially head about Spies, Lies, and Allies there was a completely different synopsis. That synopsis drew me in. Naturally when I spotted Spies, Lies, and Allies on Netgalley I didn't hesitate to request it. I'm glad that I read it!When I had first start reading, I was positive that I was going to DNF it. Laurel was utterly annoy...

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.Like with all the other Entangled books I’ve read before, this one did not disappoint, and was a really fun contemporary story. In Spies, Lies, and Allies, Laurel is desperate to spend more time with her workaholic father, and the only way she can do, is by begging to be allowed to join the internships taking place at his company, Emergent Ent...

This was a pretty cute book! There were many things I enjoyed, but on the whole, I think it was just a bit "young" for me.On the upside, there were some great relationships exhibited here. Usually, I'm all about the main couple in a YA contemporary - give me more! - but i the case of "Spies, Lies, and Allies", there were two, more secondary, relationships that I really enjoyed. The first was between Laurel and her father. It was obvious that Laur...

***4.5/5 Stars***Spies, Lies, and Allies had me a laughing, sighing swooning mess! This was such an adorable book and it almost had a Breakfast Club feel to it at times, which I absolutely loved! When I finished that last page, I realized that Lisa Brown Roberts has become one of my favorite authors. Each time I pick up a book by her, I not only fall in love with the characters and story line, but I always have the hugest smile on my face while ...

Spies, Lies, and Allies is the perfect summer romance book! This book was fast-paced, witty, romantic, and full of Star Wars references! My nerdy little heart was filled with joy! There were so many lovable characters in this book, which is what made it such a fun book to read. Each character was unique and memorable in their own way. All of the characters were thrown together in the workplace, which meant their friendship was off to a rocky start...

This was such a fun and light-hearted read and I really enjoyed it. I had been meaning to read other books by Lisa Brown Roberts, but just hadn’t, but I’m going to make sure I get her backlist books right away! Laurel’s father is busy… he started his company from nothing and after 15 years it’s super successful and growing. This year he’s sponsoring a college scholarship competition for a handful of interns, and Laurel suggests she sp...

This book could be described using many of my favorite adjectives: fun, cute, adorable, heartwarming, but what stood out for me, was the focus on family and friendship.Laurel wanted a position at her father's firm, because she missed him. She thought, if they worked together, they would have the drive into the city and back, and perhaps a lunch date here and there, to reconnect. She was looking to renew the bond between them, and that just tugged...

I love this book! Seriously, freaking LOVE! I’m a huge Lisa Brown Roberts fan and had the distinct pleasure of being her “seat filler” for all of five minutes at the RWA conference in San Diego a few years back; coincidentally, just a few days before San Diego Comic-Con. And though I’m sure she’s quite a bit younger than me, I still say I want to be LBR when I grow up. And SPIES, LIES, AND ALLIES is the reason why. The banter, the chara...

4.5*Although I’m no longer the demographic for them, (at least age-wise!), I’m a total sucker for sweet contemporary young adult novels like Spies, Lies, and Allies. Maybe because I can vicariously relive my youth through them? Maybe because I wish my teen years were as fun and entertaining as they’re made out to be in books? Maybe because I wish the hot jock had fallen for me??? All of the above could quite possibly be true! But I think it...

Laurel wants to spend more time with her dad, so she convinces him to allow her to work at his business, Emergent Enterprises, for the summer.  She wants to help out with the new intern program.  There are multiple candidates all fighting to win a $100, 000 scholarship for college.Laurel is a big nerd and loves Star Wars.  There are a lot of references and since I'm not a big fan, I honestly didn't get them all.  But I think Star Wars lovers ...

Visit me at https://smadasbooksmack.blogspot.com/Wanting to spend more time with her workaholic father, Laurel comes up with a plan (and a lot of begging to get it approved!) to work with him at the office. I received a copy of this title to read and review for Wicked Reads 5 Stars Young Adult age-range: 12+, includes kissing and cussing. Laurel wants to spend time with her workaholic father, the geeky dad who used to spend a ton of time with her. She's willing to do anything, even be the assistant/spy to the new set of interns. In this young adult novel, not only is the connection between a daughter and father explored, but also that between friend...

I received Spies, Lies, and Allies by Lisa Brown Roberts from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, but that has no impact on my thoughts. As a whole, I thought Spies, Lies, and Allies was a strong 3 and a half stars which means I did like the book, but it didn't quite have the REALLY liked it star rating. I stuck around with the book because I appreciated all of the Star Wars references in the book, and some of the Harry Potter ones that w...

This is the first book I have read by Lisa Brown Roberts. The story is filled with "geeky references" from Star Wars to Harry Potter that readers will either love for hate. At times the reference were just a bit too much and started to bog down the story. With the one liners that bogged down the story it didn't really start to pick up until half way though. Which is why Spies, Lies, and Allies by Lisa Brown Roberts gets 4 stars instead of 3.The c...

When thinking about Spies, Lies and Allies, I think survivor, The Apprentice and a sprinkling of The Bachelor.Laurel was a fascinating character to read about and had a realistic voice.
