Reviews The Lord Meets His Lady (Midnight Meetings, #3)

  • Sissy's Romance Book Review
The Lord Meets His Lady by Gina Conkle is book Three in the "Midnight Meetings" series. This is the story of Lord Marcus Bowles and Genevieve Turner. I have read the other books in this series but feel this can easily be a standalone book. Genevieve is a illegitimate daughter of a light skirt / whore and she doesn't know who her father is. Genevieve is on her own and had to sell her body some. Genevieve was even tricked into signing an indenture ...

3.5 Stars rounded up to 4Series: Midnight Meetings #3Publication Date: 12/5/17This is my first book by Gina Conkle and I liked the story. It is very, very loosely based on Red Riding hood because there is a red cloak and hood featured in the story as well as a Wulf, who is NOT in sheep’s clothing. To me, this story is more about one man’s journey to finding himself, maturing, and realizing the kind of life he really wants to lead. Lord Marcus ...

I am torn about this review - I liked the idea of the book, but the execution didn't work for me.Genevieve Turner is a woman on the run, she has set out under an assumed name to take a position as a housekeeper. She desperately wants to start anew and hopes this position will be the first step in her new independent life.Lord Marcus Bowles is a man with no direction, after causing one too many scandals, his brother, the Marquess Northampton, has ...

Spicier than many historicals. I loved the maid/employer storyline, but got a little bogged down toward the end with a villain that just wouldn't quit. 4 stars

This is a story of Marcus and Genevieve. Neither have a pristine past. Both want to start fresh and become better people. That is what this story is all about. One low born, the other quality. Both with a checkered past and both made bad decisions that paint their daily lives. As the story goes this is a nice story about second chances. Sure there is lust and sex written into the pages and sure it is on the steamy side. My problem with the book i...

Interesting! It's not often that you find a romance set in the Georgian period and this one is particularly good. Great characterization, a decent story and amazing period details. On another note, it's obvious, too, that Conkle has done her research; she doesn't gloss over what living then was really like-machinery to turn roasts and chamber pots and all. I consider myself pretty educated and even I had a little trouble keeping up. Plus, there w...

Lord Marcus Bowles had been banished from his elder brother the Marquis of Northampton because Marcus’ drinking and gambling was impeding the Marquis in his search for a suitable bride. Until he returns home, Marcus is to spend the winter at Pallinsburn cottage, and it was on his way that he saw what appeared like a coach being held up by highwaymen. It was not the case, still there was a damsel in distress to be rescued. Not precisely a helple...

The Lord Meets His Lady, Gina ConkleMidnight Meetings #3I have mixed feelings about this book. It is the first book I have read by this author and though it is well written I found it difficult to believe. In some ways I found Marcus’s friend – Samuel – more interesting than Marcus and would like to know what happens to Samuel and his brothers in the future more than I want to know about Marcus and his brothers. Also, I have trouble believi...

Lord Marcus Bowles, a well-born man who turned his life into a sea of shame for the family until, weary, the family banished him to a country house. He would have to stay a year free-scandal and, who knows, that would clear his image to the society. Not to mention that his brother, Marquess of Northampton, was trying to find a wealthy wife, and his brother's scandals could upset him.On his way to Northumberland, Marcus meets Genevieve Turner. A be...

I was delighted to be asked to participate in the release tour for Gina Conkle's The Lord Meets His Lady. This is a gorgeous historical romance, full of lush prose and evocative imagery, not to mention an extremely unusual pair of protagonists.Lord Marcus Bowles is the epitome of the scoundrel second son, banished to his forebears' cottage in Northumberland until gossip about his latest scandalous episode can die down. Scandal doesn't stay far fr...
Aah! What a love couple. Lord Marcus Bowles is mysteriously drawn towards his gorgeous housekeeper Genevieve Turner and what follows is a full-fledged romance, full of passion and drama. But Genevieve has her own secrets and Marcus must save her from the ‘wolf’A fairy tale kinda romance, with a hero and a villain, the book takes us through the country lanes and gives us a glimpse of the life of the life of a royal, abandoned by his family. I ...

Marcus likes to protect what's his, “She wants to stay.” Lord Bowles’s smile was a cold slash of white in the dark. “Your first clue should’ve been her screaming and running away from you. Always a bad sign when a woman does that.” Marcus drives a mean bargain, "his hazel stare bore into her, all traces of humor gone despite the silly apron. “If you’re adamant about seeing my bits and pieces again, you’ll have to sleep with me....

Lord Marcus Bowles has been living reckless life, gambling, fast horses and fast women flitting from woman to woman. He been banished to the isolated country so his brother can find a wife before Marcus creates another scandal. This is the first book I've read by Ms. Conkle and I'm not sure I'll read anymore of them. While this book was well-written overall, this book was not for me. It was a bit wordy in spots and I found myself skipping paragraphs at a time. I did enjoy the witty banter between Marcus and Gen, but the graphic sex scenes were a bit much. This book is loosely connected with the fairytale "Little Red Riding Hood," except this book does end in the typical...

Slow moving but good read. I even liked the “villain” and would like to see him get his HEA with a suitably feisty lady
  • Tabby Shiflett
A witty historical romance loosely based on Red Riding Hood that includes a feisty and resourceful leading lady with a unusual past and a lord who is having trouble deciding on a future. This is the third book in the series (Book 1 is a Beauty and the Beast adaptation while Book 2 is a retelling of Cinderella), but the novel can be read as a stand-alone. The setting, the characters (both the MCs and the supporting ones), and the plot are intrigui...

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book number 3 in the Midnight meetings series. We have the wild brother Marcus that needs to settle down and by settle down they mean being scandal free. Everything was okay until he meets his lady. The story was pretty great. I enjoyed it a great deal.

Gina conkle does it again. This is a good read, good story. Very well written. Marcus and Genevieve were endearing characters. Him born in high society and her coming from a lower class. They both had their own issues. I have received this book from Netgalley for an honest opinion.

Marcus Bowles is the brother of the Marquis of Northampton he’s been banished to the country to ponder on his life, his excessive drinking, gambiling and women. His reputation a black mark on the family name and that needed to stop especially when his brother was on the market for a rich bride.Genevieve Turner was running away from a situation she wanted nothing to do with, the daughter of an actress (with somewhat loose morals) and no idea who...

I loved this book! Two lost souls, who truly needed one thing! Love! One, Lord March is born into the Aristocracy. The Second, Miss Turner, Miss Abbott, also known as Gen. born on the wrong side of the blanket. Lord Marcus has been punished, and sent to his Mother's late, humble parents home, Pallisburn. He has gambled, and drank to the point, that he is now an alcoholic! Miss Turner, is running from a big Wolff, no joke, he is extremely dangerou...

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest reviewThe suspense of will they fall in love will drive you mad! I was hooked from the start with her red cloak and the mystery surrounding her. The instant connection and fun flirting between them throughout the story was perfect and a favorite part of the whole story. I was on the edge of my seat about her past and wondering what was going to happen. There is so much going on in this ...

Northumberland - 1768Lord Marcus Bowles has been banished by his brother, the Marquis Northampton, for his excessive drinking and gambling. This is dramatic, suspenseful and romantic. Marcus is a rakehell who drinks and gambles to excess. When he's banished from London he decides to turn his life around, and meeting Genevieve makes it easier. He becomes a very charming, amusing and responsible person. Genevieve is a tough but vulnerable woman who was raised in a bawdy theater and has left London to better her life. When she finds herself attracted to Marcus, she steels herself agains...

This is a great series (based on fairytales) and Little Red Riding Hood is the featured one in this story. At first Genevieve was a bit forward for me but the more you get to know her the more you realize she wants to do what she feels is best not only for herself (by not letting people roll over her) but also for others. Oh, and she loves mechanical devices and is good at fixing them. Marcus, bless his heart, is the brother that is sent off to c...

❤❤❤❤❤💋💋💋A slow moving romance but full of feeling and emotions, this was a book I never found boring . It was carefully and thoughtfully written ,and ,as my first from this author , I loved it .Genevieve is running from her old life and from her old master Heir Wolf .Marcus is the second son of a lord , and an ex soldier, with a passion for gambling, whiskey and horses . The two meet when she becomes his housekeeper, and a rela...

I throughly loved the other books in this series, but this one just didn't appeal to me. The "hero" of the story, Marcus, just came off as to smarmy to me. He is attracted to Genevieve, so he talks his friend into letting her come back to his place to be his housekeeper...I almost didn't finish it, but I stuck it out. Since I loved the other books in the series, I'm still looking forward to the next one that comes out late next year.
