I really enjoyed this first book in the series! The Napa Valley setting was great and I’d love to eat at Mimi’s bistro and have the French onion soup! The characters were likeable and relatable. We were just flirting with the line of there being to many that it got confusing and I think if this was a later book in the series where you already knew all the main characters this wouldn’t have been a problem. I really liked Mimi’s detective s...

Reviewed at The Power of Words: http://bit.ly/2znysOnSetting, characterization and plot all come together beautifully in A Deadly Éclair, book #1 in Daryl Wood Gerber’s entertaining new French Bistro series. The stage is superbly set for future stories as the cast of characters is introduced and fleshed out, but not in an overwhelming way. Supporting characters, some a little quirky, add richness and depth. Through the fictional setting of Nou...

I feel I should explain my 3 star rating on this book. It wasn't a bad book, but it lacked the things I look for in a cozy mystery. The small town charm and the endearing characters. The mystery was well done, but I just never felt fully invested in either the story line or the characters' lives. And for me, that's what cozy mysteries are all about. If you're looking for a good mystery, it might be your thing. Heck, it might even be your cozy myst...
