NOW LIVE!Amazon * Barnes & Noble Mary Burton never fails me and The Last Move gives me yet another example of why I will forever be a fan of hers. She has this ability to sort of make you think you know what's going to happen, yet still keep you in suspense throughout the whole story. I love it and that's the whole reason I fell in love with mystery novels. There wasn't a dull page in this book and I was extremely happy I started this book on my ...

The characterization is well done. And the plot is a captivating police procedural ...

3-1/2 stars.Pretty decent romantic suspense from Mary Burton. I liked the dynamic between Kate and Theo, and the fact that there wasn't this super-fast, full blown romance between two people over the course of a few days, but rather a realistic mutual attraction and respect of each other that could lead to more. The suspense part of the book kept me invested in the story and moved along at a good pace. I didn't round up to 4 stars because I did fe...

3.5 Stars. I like Burton’s thrillers; but they are very formulaic, and have to be spaced out. Honestly, they are all pretty similar in tone. Still, it was a good read, if rather unrealistic. If Burton could ever break her formula, she’d be doing herself and her readers a huge favor. She’s got the writing talent...she just needs to reinvent her style.

3.5/5I was in the mood for some romantic suspense and The Last Move did the trick. I liked that the romance didn't overtake the suspense. There were some predictable moments, but other than that it was a good read.

The Last Move is a new standalone novel from popular romantic suspense author Mary Burton featuring a prickly but pragmatic FBI Forensic linguistics expert who is frequently called in to consult on complicated cases that need to make use of her skills to analyse the language employed by murderers, kidnappers and other unsavoury characters in order to effect rescues and arrests.  It’s a very readable, well-plotted story that seems to be headin...

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.Serial killers are just not my thing. I have to be in a really off mood to enjoy those books. Just not there right now. Anyway, I have read and enjoyed other books by Mary Burton, but this one just isn't for me. I found both the hero and heroine to be distant, and the writing was disengaged. Neither the plot or the characters fo...

This Mary Burton novel is a new standalone and I did enjoy the main characters. You have Kate, who is a prickly FBI Forensic linguistics expert teamed up with detective Theo Mazur, from Chicago PD, who moved to San Antonio when his ex-wife moved there with their teenage daughter. They are brought together to solve a serial killer case that Kate thought she had brought to justice. I thought this was a strong plotted novel though I still had a few ...

I'm so disappointed. The first 18% of this story was so good. Then, it turned R rated withuntasteful content and language. The murder mystery itself was ok.Narrator Teri Schnaubelt did a nice job.Skipped over embarrassing parts. Not Clean. Crude and Foul language.

Mary Burton writes such great books about serial killers, and this was no exception.I really liked Mazur and Kate. He was new to San Antonio and she was brought in when a killing happened that resembled a killer’s work that she had put in jail. Then, when a killer got away that she was tracking got away in Utah, she had to leave it up to her partner to catch him while she went to San Antonio, only to have that same killer, Drexler, show up in S...

Engrossing. This book grabs your attention from the first page and soon shows itself as a well thought-out thriller. The police procedural nature of the plot flows realistically without any superhero nonsense and, thankfully, the romance is limited. The characterisation I thought was well developed and was kept guessing to the end. An enjoyable read by an author I will definitely be reading more of.

Kate Hayden is an FBI profiler specializing in forensic linguistics. She is blunt, direct, speaks her thoughts, struggles with small talk, doesn’t socialize, and doesn’t get close to people. I had a really hard time relating to Kate’s character. Theo Mazur is a detective with the San Antonio police. He is a transplant from Chicago, moving to Texas when his ex-wife does so he can still be actively involved in his teenage daughter’s life. A...

The Last Move is the latest book from author, Mary Burton. Ms. Burton shows that she is not slowing down anytime soon. The team of FBI agent Kate Hayden and Homicide Detective Theo Mazur is a great pairing. They work well together. Both are detail orientated and professional. There were a few tense moments where both could have lost their cool but they remained focused at the task at hand. Which paid off in the end game. Although, there was some ...

I liked Kate and Mazur they made a good detective team. I really enjoyed Kate's personality and character. She was different, in a good way. The story line and plot was good. Reviewed by GeminiI have read several romantic suspense novels by Mary Burton. They generally involve a lot of twists and turns. The Last Move is no different. Just when you think things can’t get any worse, they do. This story was an exciting romantic suspense title with two intriguing main characters. Kate Hayden is an FBI agent who is a profiler and a specialist in linguistics. Kate rescues his latest victim Sara and promises to find the man. However, she is called back to San Antonio because there has been a crime c...

As an FBI agent, Kate's past has helped her solve the most disturbing of cases, mainly with serial killers. The Last Move is a nail biting suspense where the smartest FBI agent is working to find a serial killer that is from her past. Kate Hayden is a smart, strong female character that works hard for respect but works harder for the victims of the killers she puts behind bars. Mary Burton made Kate likable strong, and willing to face her fears even when it comes from her nightmares. The story is strong with twist and turns readers of mystery and thril...
