See my FULL review of this book on my blog along with others at: shesgoingbookcrazy.comOut today! “Was it not also me who warned you that a queen is only as good as her advisers?” “Yes.” She crooked her mouth at him. “But you were wrong. That may be true of other queens, but an oracle queen is only as good as her gift.”I've been anticipating this novella for quite. The Oracle Queen, mentioned several times throughout the Three Dark Cr...

SO MANY FEELINGS!This novella was freaking awesome. If you enjoy the TDC series, you will surely enjoy this one. This is the true story of the infamous Oracle Queen, who foresaw visions of an usurping and killed three houses of Fennbirn. - or so, that is what we are told... I loved this so much. Any backstory, rumored or true, I just eat up. The lore of the Queens past and the island are my favorite part of this series. I hope we get more novellas...

This was such a good back story on some of the historical elements of the Three Dark Crowns saga but WOW am I SO mad at some of these characters. A testament to good writing, in my books (excuse the pun).

2.5 stars. This novella’s only redeeming qualities are that it is set in my current favorite fantasy world of Fennbirn, and that it gets a little fast paced and backstabby in places which is always fun. Probably not worth your time though!

Dear god, what is this thing ? I have a hard time believing Kendare Blake wrote this because it honestly reads like a fanfic. It has a smidge of her awesome sass in the beginning, but 1/4th of this book is about a painting and what the queen thinks of everyone's hairstyles. The plot is predictable. The ending is super dramatic in a bad way. This was fast read and it took me two evenings to get through because I just didn't want to pick it up. Do y...

Because this is a novella, a plot that really needs to play out in a full-length novel suffers terribly. It is awkward and overly-condensed. Nothing valuable is really added to the ongoing Fennbirn mythos, either. Characters enter and exit far too quickly for anyone to form an emotional attachment to them. And the "big twist" is a flimsy super-villain scheme at best. Definitely a bit of a let down.

PredictableKendare Blake has created a magnificent world in this series. It is a well-written book, but lacks the suspense and surprise of the other stories. However, the story did provide background that was good to know.

I am one of many people that have fallen in love with this series. It isn’t often that I will go out and buy all the novellas that are associated with a book, but when it comes to Three Dark Crowns I can never get enough. Once an email came through from Amazon asking me if I wanted to pre-order, I was as quick as lightning to buy it and then proceeded to read it in a whole day.Throughout the series we have heard mentions of The Oracle Queen, a ...

After finishing "One Dark Throne" I was planned not to continue reading this series anymore. However, I was interested in the story behind the oracle queen, and after some contemplating I decided to give this one a go.And guys, Kendare does not disappoint. When reading the TDC series I always felt that there was more to the Oracle Queen's story. That something wasn't quite right. Turns out I was correct. This is one to match the "Red Wedding" epi...

First, I love Kendare Blake and the Three Dark Crowns series. They are fantastic, riveting stories with interesting characters that I grew to care about very quickly. The regular novels follow three sisters and weave together the story lines of their struggles and a battle that they must face to be the only queen and to rule all of the land in their mythical world. This novella, while thematically similar, is not that type of Three Dark Crowns st...

I was wondering about the oracle queen while reading the first and the second books in the series. Was she truly mad or did someone else commit those atrocious deeds? Well, the answer is here, in this novella.(view spoiler)[The backstabbing bitch is an Arron. (hide spoiler)] No surprise there.I can't even imagine what Elsabet was feeling, being confined to the tower she has built for the rest of her life, being raped and made to bear the next tri...

Really good small and quick book to read. I was very excited to find out about the famous mad oracle queen. The storyline is nothing special and pretty predictable because the scheming and backstabbing seemed frustratingly obvious. Still was nice to read the story and its very sad to think she was always remembered as a mad queen even though she could have been the best queen had they just let her. I hope in one of kendares new books perhaps the ...

Going in to this short story I knew it wasn't going to end well for the title character. Based on the myths and the treatment of any Oracle Queen by the inhabitants of Fennbern Island since her time, it was easy to see that she wasn't a happily ever after sort. What I didn't expect was to feel so much for her or her loyal friends in such a short period of time. Well worth a few hours reading.

I wish this was out before I read the first book - I really enjoyed reading about The Oracle Queen and it was awful what happened to her - I would love to actually see a whole book on it. I also just got the Queens of Fennbirn - Looking forward to reading that next!
