3.5 "was she mad crazy or just mad angry ?" stars !!!Ok the 15 year old girl in me insisted that I read this. I really enjoyed Three Dark Crowns by the same author and I am pumped to move forward in the series but first I decided to take a step back and read this prequel by 500 years !!Queen Elsabet was the last Oracle Queen and the legend was that she was stark raving mad and murderous! How did this come to be and is this why every Oracle prince...

See my FULL review of this book on my blog along with others at: shesgoingbookcrazy.comOut today! “Was it not also me who warned you that a queen is only as good as her advisers?” “Yes.” She crooked her mouth at him. “But you were wrong. That may be true of other queens, but an oracle queen is only as good as her gift.”I've been anticipating this novella for quite. The Oracle Queen, mentioned several times throughout the Three Dark Cr...

“No Sight, no sound, no fault was found, no treason to be had.Yet every one would die that day for Elsabet the mad.” I must say I am pleasantly surprised. It's not necessary to read this novella to understand the main story, but it's a nice addition. Queen Elsabet was such an interesting character to read about. It also reminded me how everyone can be deceived and it's not always the truth that is being told. To be honest, I would rather have...

SO MANY FEELINGS!This novella was freaking awesome. If you enjoy the TDC series, you will surely enjoy this one. This is the true story of the infamous Oracle Queen, who foresaw visions of an usurping and killed three houses of Fennbirn. - or so, that is what we are told... I loved this so much. Any backstory, rumored or true, I just eat up. The lore of the Queens past and the island are my favorite part of this series. I hope we get more novellas...

This was such a good back story on some of the historical elements of the Three Dark Crowns saga but WOW am I SO mad at some of these characters. A testament to good writing, in my books (excuse the pun).

Salve lettori!

2.5 stars. This novella’s only redeeming qualities are that it is set in my current favorite fantasy world of Fennbirn, and that it gets a little fast paced and backstabby in places which is always fun. Probably not worth your time though!

The sight gift proved to be more divers then I expected. The end was a bit depressing tho. But loved it either way!!! 🔆

#1 Three Dark Crowns: ★★1/2*3 stars.* “I want greatness.” The Oracle Queen is a fast and entertaining read. It gives insight into the world of Queens and develops the series’s world-building, all with a tale filled with betrayals, secrets, and lots of scheming. The fantasy aspect is set aside in favor of politics, but still makes for a nice novella.Kendare Blake’s writing is great and easy to follow, although the shifts in POV can ...

Dear god, what is this thing ? I have a hard time believing Kendare Blake wrote this because it honestly reads like a fanfic. It has a smidge of her awesome sass in the beginning, but 1/4th of this book is about a painting and what the queen thinks of everyone's hairstyles. The plot is predictable. The ending is super dramatic in a bad way. This was fast read and it took me two evenings to get through because I just didn't want to pick it up. Do y...

WOW!!!!!!! WHAT A BOOK, PEOPLEWhat. a. book. Gotta be honest with you guys: I thought this one would turn out to be really boring for me, because it wasn’t about our three beloved triplets. But I was excited to read anyway.Boy... how wrong I was. Here we get to know some new and very interesting characters, that lived when Queen Elsabet reigned, 500 years in the past. And it’s... incredible. I just love this story. Get ready to love and hate p...

Of the 3 novels/novella's that I have read , so far this is my favorite. I really felt bad for Elsabet who they have labeled The Mad Queen They wanted to slay her but feared the consequences, she would not be a good little queen and follow blindly , so The Black Council had to do something. Her cheating husband ( The King Consort ) William wanted her out of the way, so did his mistress She was drugged, so her gift would be muted, so she did not s...

Because this is a novella, a plot that really needs to play out in a full-length novel suffers terribly. It is awkward and overly-condensed. Nothing valuable is really added to the ongoing Fennbirn mythos, either. Characters enter and exit far too quickly for anyone to form an emotional attachment to them. And the "big twist" is a flimsy super-villain scheme at best. Definitely a bit of a let down.
  • Dee Price
OK, my only problem with this novella is (view spoiler)[ if Elsa was truly gifted with the sight, why didn't she foresee the betrayal coming??!! (hide spoiler)] Other than that, I enjoyed this short story about the last oracle queen of Fennbirn.

Rating 6 of 7Guys, if anyone was expecting something different I would be pretty concerned. It was so obvious! But that doesn't make the novella worse. I just wish there was more new information you know.

PredictableKendare Blake has created a magnificent world in this series. It is a well-written book, but lacks the suspense and surprise of the other stories. However, the story did provide background that was good to know.

    Woooow the Arron's suuuuuuck.
