Defenseless (Somerton Security #1) by Elizabeth Dyer

Defenseless (Somerton Security #1)

How far will she go to protect the sexiest guy in tech? When ex-marine Georgia Bennett left the military for high-end private security, it was supposed to soften her snarky attitude. Instead, her short fuse just earned her a punishment of an assignment: protect smart-ass tech genius and Department of Defense contractor Parker Livingston. It should have been easy—only no one warned Georgia that Parker was one seriously drop-dead-gorgeous geek.Th...

I love man on the run books. Since I am such a romance geek I love man on the run with woman even more. The twist here is the woman, Georgia Bennet, is the close protection agent and the man, Parker Livingston is the client. Even twistier, Parker, is a member of a covert Special Forces group, albeit as a computer nerd. In fact it is his program that determines go/no go status for special operations. But someone is misusing the program for persona...

I love a good romantic suspense. If the plot is twisted enough I’ll get my brains picked at while having the promise and satisfaction of an HEA. These days I’m all about romance, I’m craving that connection between my fictional characters but I’m not against some mystery or suspense added to the blend. Now, throw into this mix a sexy nerd with an eight pack and the mandatory glasses in the role of the damsel in distress and a badass ex-mar...

Thrilling suspense mixed with humor. Defenseless kicks off a new series about a covert black ops team who also work for Somerton Security lead by Ethan Somerton. Georgia Bennett works for Ethan on his security team. She is a former marine who is still grieving for her brother who died on a mission. Ethan, who served with Will, feels a sense of responsibility to make sure Georgia is ok She isn't adapting well to being a body guard to spoiled rich ...

I absolutely loved this book!!!!! As a reader of military romances, I am used to the ALPHA man being the military hero, but, Defenseless has opened my eyes to an ALPHA female being the hero of the story!! And I loved it!!!!Georgia was such an amazingly strong woman and her role in the book was absolute perfection!!!! Parker, oh Parker!!! He may be a genius, but he is perfect book boyfriend material!!!!I can not wait to read the rest of the books ...

***ARC received in order to provide an honest review***2.5 starsGAHHHHHH! I wanted to love this book! If wishes were ponies I'd have a damn fine stable...We have a bad ass chick and a techie genius and things going boom. Pretty much everything I need in life. But we spend more than half the book in Georgia and Parker's heads - not a place I want to be in an action-romance. When these two were moving and shaking I was in heaven, but there just was...

***4.5 Stars*** A kickass female bodyguard falls in love with the smexy techy geek she is supposed to be protecting?I say...Uuummm YES Please! I mean, I love kickass women and have a soft spot for techy geeks (even when I may not understand half of what comes out of their mouths...but their minds…) And I must say that Defenseless hit all the right buttons for me. Characters that all peaked my interest in one way or another, a good balance of hu...

I loved the surprising moments of humor, heart touching moments and high action this book is the complete package for any Romantic Suspense readers.Elizabeth Dyer is able to take what seems a little over the stop synopsis and bring readers into a world where two people find out about one an...

2.5 The author was kind enough to suggest this book might be up ROMANCE NOVELS FOR FEMINISTS' alley, given its inversion of the typical protective hero/damsel-in-distress romantic suspense paradigm, and so I picked up a copy from Netgalley.Fresh out of the Marine Corps, Georgia Bennet is struggling to keep the job given to her by Ethan, a friend of her dead brother, who runs a security agency in the DC area. As a woman, she's supposed to be a ben...

I hit the jackpot with this ARC. Where has this author been all my life? This book is exquisitely delicious. It crackles with energy, snaps with danger and intrigue and pops with passion. This book checked all the boxes in terms of delivering a kick ass female character, Georgia Bennett. Georgia works for Somerton Security where she was sent on a mission to guard a tech programming geek Parker Livingston. I will be honest, when I read the descrip...

A good romantic, on the run, plot twisting, humorous, and suspenseful book! What more can you ask for?? Elizabeth Dyer gives us all these things and much more in Defenseless. Georgia goes to work for Ethan at Somerton Security after her stint in the military. Ethan is her brother's best friend and feels a need to watch over Georgia since her brother died. She's having a hard time adjusting to the work, and even more to the clientele. Cow-towing t...

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, so here goes:I was hooked by the description of this story and hoped that it wouldn't be another letdown (I've had quite a few of those lately!). I'm pleased to say that this is one of the best romantic suspense books I've read this year. And apparently it's the debut novel of this author, which is awe-inspiring. I was sucked into the story from the first page and stayed riveted th...

Georgia Bennett is an ex-marine who is now in private security and is tasked with protecting a tech genius named Parker. When someone attempts to assassinate Parker it's up to Georgia to protect him at all costs. Tension is strong and emotions are high. Can they survive to find out who's out to get them? This was a good book very deep. (view spoiler)[I liked Georgia she was so complex because of her past and her brother and she's really good at s...

This is undoubtedly the worst book I have read this year. I can't believe the number of gushing reviews. To start with, the idea of a female bodyguard is far from original - Zoe Sharpe's Charlie Fox has been going for years, and is infinitely superior both as a character and in terms of the writing quality. Secondly, the dialogue here is reminiscent of a string of third rate TV detective series where two opposites supposedly spark off each other. ...

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads. I enjoyed this book. The fast paced, high energy heroine who's tasked with protecting the geeky guy. Except, he's not all that geeky and when push comes to shove, Parker shows what he's made of.Both Parker and Georgia had rough childhoods and neither one of them wants to revisit the past. Except that Georgia has no choice when it comes to protecting Parker but to take them b...

I was intrigued by the summary and secured this via NetGalley. I love badass heroines and life and death on-the-run action-suspense with romance. But, from lots of NetGalley reading, this sort of story could go bad. I'm pleased to say I liked Defenseless. The chemistry was there between our couple and some of the off-beat moments (PITA on a Roomba) were intriguing enough to make me smile. While I remained fairly addicted to reading this, what did...

DNFIt’s not that DEFENSELESS is bad-- in fact, I quite enjoyed Georgia (it’s always refreshing to have the heroine be the kick-ass one and the hero be the one needing saving!) and the humorous, witty banter-- it just didn’t grab my interest from the outset (or at any point, TBH). When I’m 50% through a romantic suspense book and I still have no problem putting it down to do something as inane as looking at cat videos, it’s time to move ...

DEFENSELESS by Elizabeth Dyer. Book 1 "Somerton Security "Ex Marine Georgia left to do security work. Her boss tells her it's isn't enough to keep her clients alive and well. She needed to make a personal connection with her next assignment. Parker didn't want a bodyguard, let allow one like her. Sparks fly between them, and with an assassin, they are now running. A fast gripping story, that readers will enjoy, looking forward to more in this ser...

I really enjoyed this one! The writing is fantastic with a perfect mix of action, suspense, and romance. A touch of humor and moments of great passion kept me glued to this one. One super sexy geek and a sassy spitfire bodyguard combine to make a powerful duo that will track down the people responsible for using Parker's technology against him and the rest of the team he works with putting them all in danger. Definitely a book I recommend.

Excellent A great action book with romance added in. The idea of a female bodyguard protecting a big strong male is different but works. Georgia is sassy and confident in her job but not so sure in her private life. Parker also breaks the stereotype, he's a genius with a fit body and delightfully unworried about having a woman protecting him. The sex scenes are pretty graphic but don't interfere with the main story. I'm looking forward to the nex...

Enjoyable I picked this book from the kindle firsts list as a free download. I was not sure it was going to be my type of book. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was very well written the characters were likeable and interesting and the storyline was great. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Well done Elizabeth Dyer on the first book in this series.

I really loved Georgia and Parker’s Story! I devoured this book in one setting. It had everything for me that I desire in a book. I am looking forward to more books by this author. I am a grammar nazi and I couldn’t find nothing. The writing style was perfect and the grammar was spot on. This book is totally worth a try!

I really enjoyed the characters in this one :) They are the opposite of what you expect and blow stereotypes out of the water. Loving the characters really helps move the story along at a quick pace as you try to figure out who is causing the issues and could it be someone they trust with their lives?

Griping storylinesNot my usual choice of storylines, but glad I took that plunge as have really enjoyed it from start to finish. The characters I felt connected to from the beginning. Now looking for more of Elizabeth's books. Humor and some truly scary bits are a sure way to keep me reading late in to the night!

Romantic action that deliversLoved this, a romantic action that actually delivers on the action, as well as romance.Well written, with a nice kick a** heroine who neither swoons, not relies on a man when the action happens. Here's hoping that more books swiftly follow.
