Marquita Valentine once again hooks her readers to fall for her characters as she sweeps readers away with this charming love story that puts a fun twist on older brother’s best friend romance.Aiden McHugh has always had feeling for his best friend’s younger sister. *ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review*4.5 Stars! If there's one thing I know for sure, it's that Marquita will definitely bring the laughs. And she definitely did not disappoint with Sidelined. From the moment Layton was a little girl, she had her whole future planned out. She knew she was going to marry Joe, her friend since they were little kids. She knew how old she was going to be when said wedding happened. Nothing could go wr...

Aiden surprises you at every turn in this most anticipated book of mine. Geeze, who wouldn't want the cocky QB from South Boston? I would be his Hoodsie at anytime. Layton was dealt a whopping one two blow but a little tough love and push from friends had her leaving the past there in less time than she thought. I enjoyed her growth and chase of Aiden from beginning to end. As for Joe, Bless His Heart for knowing how to swim...

Man, oh man, have I been dying to get my hands-on Aiden and Layton’s story since Scored! I knew their story would be one for the ages—and it is!!Hello, Aiden is a grumpy, growly, hot AF, star quarterback. He’s got women fawning and falling all over him. Except for the one he really wants. But she’s taken . . . or is she?Layton would have been better off left at the altar by that bastard husband of hers, Joe. But no, he left her—for the ...

**3.5 Stars** Pining away for your best friend's little sister was torture for Aiden, but longing for another man's wife? It was another hell altogether. Aiden has always loved Layton but his honor of not caving into the McHugh gene has him stayed far away. When Layton's husband confessed to cheating the fourth day into their marriage, Layton's self-confidence took a brutal hit and left her wondering what the hell she did wrong. She needed a rebo...

~3.5 starsSidelined was the first book by Marquita that I have read. The story was cute and a nice quick read for my free afternoon. Aiden and Layton have known each other since they were kids. We're told Aiden has had a crush on her for a while but never acted on it because Layton had this thing for the guy she thought was her HEA and it followed her plan. In the blurb we are lead to believe that she fights for Aiden and then he turns the table...

4.5 starsSo here's the deal: I was angry, annoyed, and even a little stabby towards Aiden in Scored. Like I legit wanted to hurt him for what I thought was a major wrong. I knew, you knew, and even Layton knew Joe was a piece of sh..shoe. I was livid when it all went down. I was going to start a petition and possible hire a hitman. Not for Joe, that piece of trash will get his but for Aiden. Because the bachelor party wasn't even the beginning, c...

I have been reading Marquita Valentine’s books since she started out. Her first series, about the Romanov family, is priceless. Her style is Southern sweet and sassy, so her books are light fare with a little bite and a lot of fun. This book is about this boy who studied under a scholarship in Raleigh University and later went into pro football in the NFL. He’s Layton’s big brother’s best friend and has been a frequent guest at her house ...

Gimme books... The more I have the more I want... It's a vicious cycle that I can't, and won't, get out of. When an author that I've read previous books has a new one coming out I'm on the front row cheering and waiting for it. Marquita Valentine is the one today. Her previous books made me smile, cry, curse and so much more and I can't get enough. Her writting is sassy, strong, funny, sexy and Dayum... Hot as hell too. Sideline is her latest rel...

2.5 StarsI struggled with this title, which I was a little bummed about, as I loved the premise, the cover and the blurb. The premise was good. The idea of using a friend, the guy you have known since you were a young girl as a way to get over your ex and move on. We have all been there, recovering from a heartbreak makes you assess the other options you have in your life. But, for me, there was not enough time for the "recovery". And this is where...

Layton Price had her life planned out since middle school. Then she married her high school sweetheart and he told her it was not going to work out…during the honeymoon. Completely humiliated, she’ll seek refuge with her brother instead of going back to her small town life.Aiden McHugh is a pro football player and has been Layton’s brother’s best friend since they met in college. He’s know Layton most of her life, but now she has her si...

Love has a way of knocking you flat before it lifts you up. Marquita Valentine has an innate talent for merging the good with the bad and keeping you laughing as she's breaking your heart. Sidelined is one woman's quest to heal her broken heart in the most wicked way possible. He helped break her heart, perhaps he can help put it back together again. Aiden and Layton can be each other's worst nightmares, but behind the bickering, the frustration ...

2.5 starsThis one was a struggle for me to get through. I liked the idea of the book, but it dragged for me. There were parts of the story that I didn't quite understand. And my biggest thing that I struggled with, is how Aiden was this character from Boston. Being from there, when someone writes a character based on being from there, they wither hot the mark, or miss. For me, this was a miss.

I truly enjoyed this book. I was happy to see that the it was the guy that had to convince the girl to come around. I loved the banter between these two, it was down right funny at times and other times I wanted to hit one of them. This was a really good book even at the times I just had to roll my eyes at them. I can't wait for more.

Aiden is brash, aggressive, a tad bit of a pig, and I loved every minute of this book. This book make me laugh, made me want to stab someone in the eye, and also root for Layton to get her life together. She is quite the hot mess. This was a great book, with memorable characters.

OMG!!! This book was fantastic!!! I always love Marquita Valentine's heroines because they are such quintessential Southern belles. Layton Price was no different. I fell in love with her in Scored and knew I wanted to read her and Aiden's story. I'm so happy Ms. Valentine decided to give her readers what they were clamoring for.And what a story it is. This story has all the feels. And Aiden, oh my, he has WORDS!!! WOW!!! He words made me melt!!! ...

A beautifully sweet and crazily sexy sports romance that'll have you begging for more...Do you remember that film, The Wedding Planner with J.Lo and Matthew "whatshisname" McConaughey? Well, this is kind of what I would've wished happened to Fran (his ditched bride-to-be) if she'd actually been a nice person. I say that because unlike Layton she's a twatwaffle. Anywho, I was a little unsure about Sidelined. I loved the blurb, that thing had me sq...

Layton thought she had her future all planned out, she's about to marry the man of her dreams, just purchased the home of her dreams, and about to have the wedding and honeymoon of her dreams... then the man who promised her forever decided he wanted a forever with someone else. Now her world is turned upside down, they had plans to start their life together, so she gave up the one she had before, and was ready for her new adventure, but now that...

Holy moly! This story was freakin' fantastic! Full disclosure: When I first read the blurb for Sidelined, I knew the characters sounded familiar, but I didn't remember that they were secondary characters in Scored until I dove into Sidelined. Then it all clicked. In Scored, I really didn't like Aiden. He was a moody, miserable, mean ass for no apparent reason other than he was an NFL star and could be a big old jerk to his best friend's little sis...

I really enjoyed Sidelined by Marquita Valentine, picturing this gorgeous cover model through out the read made the storyline that much sweeter. This is a story that is a falling for your best friends sister, friends to lovers romance. This story is funny, sexy and has a bit of drama. This story had me wanting to reread Scored so that I can reacquaint myself with some of the other characters. In Sidelined, Aiden McHugh who is the NFL's hottest qua...

From the moment we met Aiden and Layton in Scored, I knew I wanted them to find a way to be together. It didn't matter to me that Layton was engaged to someone else, I knew she and Aiden were perfect for each other and am so glad Ms. Valentine gave us their story.I love when two characters have a history together and the fact that Aiden and Layton had known each other since she was 11 gave me all the feels. I love they had a friendship, as he is ...

Posted on What I'm ReadingOkay, I'm going to have to say I liked Sidelined more than Scored. A suggestion would be to read Scored, because it kind of shows Layton's wedding planning and why she asked Aiden to do her bidding. However, shows the aftermath of Layton's quick marriage, and she comes to terms of it crumble before it even started. We see a lot of Layton trying to pick up the pieces. We also have Aiden trying to make it through his last ...

I loved this story, it was just so warm and light-hearted, even if it did have a little bit of drama. It was cute and funny, with a big hearted hero and a sassy heroine. Aiden McHugh is the star quarterback for the Raleigh Renegades, he’s known Layton Tallulah Price since she was 11 years old, when her big brother and his best friend brought him home for the holidays. Cute as she was then, L.T as Aiden called her, somehow got under his skin, an...

I have read many Marquita Valentine books before, and one thing that draws me to her books, is that realism, mixed with humor approach, and Sideline is no different, in fact because it was down to earth, it made me fall in love with it that bit more.Sidelined is the semi-typical best friend's sibling romance, with a huge twist, just to keep you on your toes! Aiden is a 19-year-old kid from South Boston when he meets Layton (LT), his best friend's...

I was totally moved while reading Sidelined by Marquita Valentine book two in her sports romance series. Layton Price had her life all planned out by age eleven; who she would marry, where they would live, what she would do, etc. However, life doesn’t always follow the path you believe it will. When her husband leaves her during their honeymoon for the wedding planner Layton is out for retaliation sex with the one man she shouldn’t, but he’...

I knew going into this book I was going to have some moments of anger. Things were set up pretty well in Scored that I knew Joe was a complete a hole. And I kind of thought that I would also be mad at Aiden for not telling Layton the truth about Joe and helping her avoid heartache. But once you get into Sidelined you realize that Joe is such a slime ball & super shady that Aiden never really had concrete proof for Layton and that he didn't want t...

Marquita Valentine certainly knows how to tell a fantastic story. Her quick with, strong characters and combustible chemistry is the perfect combination in her newest release Sidelined. I first met Layton and Aiden in Scored and I was delighted to read more about them in this sexy standalone. Unlike traditional sports romance, or romance of any kind, Layton actually ends up with the with the wrong guy. Unfortunately, she finds out four days after...

I am happy to admit that in the beginning Payton scared me. When an 11-year-old has a binder filled with details of her future life, including names – like a 13-year-old Joe destined to be her husband – I am not entirely sure I would have pandered to her to the extent her family did. That kind of single-mindedness can go south. And 15 years later it does when Joe decides he’s more into the wedding planner than he is his wife of four days.It...
