Isn't it great to find a book you just want to read all day! Well, This Is Me describes that book. Fortunately, I started it on a weekend and was able to read it all I wanted and wanted I did! It is a well written memoir of Chrissy Metz, one of the stars of the wonderful TV show, This Is Us. She tells the story of how she was able to overcome a difficult childhood by hard work and by believing in herself. She knows her worth and wants to share wi...

Critically-acclaimed actress Chrissy Metz, who rose to fame playing Kate Pearson in the NBC hit drama series This Is Us, has penned a compelling debut memoir. Metz writes with the candor and immediacy of a good friend who has come over for a chat. A witty, poignant and engaging read, the groundbreaking actress presents a touchingly-human account of her childhood, early struggles, rise to fame and journey to find her place in the world. The book g...

Chrissy Metz was an unknown actress until the TV show "This is Us" became a popular show and made her a successful actress. She writes of her childhood. Her father abandoned the family. Her mother struggled to make ends meet. She endures an abusive step-father who shames her for being overweight. She grew up poor and going to many different schools. She also writes about coming to California to try and make it as a singer or actress. She shares h...

Chrissy goes way more into her personal life than just about any other celebrity memoir I've read, which is actually pretty admirable. She really bares her inner life. Some elements could have been shorter (her sections on dating kind of dragged) but her optimism and positivity can't be beat.

So, I fricken' love This is Us. It's my favorite thing that's been on TV in a long time. So I was always going to be interested in picking up Chrissy Metz's book. But I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It was funny, witty, and totally page-turny. I loved the combination of both personal memoir and creative/life advice that were interspersed throughout. It was both raw, and unflinching in its relatability, while at the same time b...

    This book!!! So amazing

This is an absorbing and riveting memoir by Chrissy Metz who plays Kate on the show This is Us, one of my current favorites. The story of Chrissy’s life is amazing...she experienced many challenges as she grew up in Florida, and her journey from her difficult childhood to her status as one of the most recognized actresses is absolutely incredible. In addition to relaying the details of her life, Chrissy shares many words of wisdom and advice to...

As a "This is us" watcher, I enjoyed the book for the background on Krissy as an actor. My biggest struggle with this book was the acceptance of the physical and emotional abuse she endured as a child, and the book chalked it up to the abuse being something that made her stronger. The book condoned the abuse, and her mother's actions, to know her daughter was being abused and let it go on anyway. I hope she continues to be a successful actor and ...

I love Chrissy. She’s inspiring, funny, and gorgeous. I really enjoyed her backstory and getting to know more about her. However, this book, while enjoyable, was nothing mind blowing. Very good memoir. Solid 3.5 stars.

She had a really rough childhood... Geez. She came out on top though, she's resilient and I enjoy her confidence. Interesting peek into the Hollywood world, auditioning and being an agent. Satisfying read.

I definitely enjoyed this book! I am obviously a Chrissy fan, as she is such an emotional powerhouse on This Is Us, and her existence in Hollywood is so important and essential. I love that a plus size woman can be an icon of a #1 show. The book made me slightly nervous at first- Chrissy seemed to switch gears from talking about her childhood, which was fascinating, to talking about dating, which was less interesting. I didn’t want a book about...

Several people at the library put this on hold and I was surprised it's release fell under my radar. I found it while looking through the audiobooks available on Hoopla and decided to listen. It took a little while to get adjusted to her voice and cadence, but overall I enjoyed this book more than most memoirs. At first I was afraid it was going to be a lot of what you put out into the world, Oprah inspired posititivity, but it was refreshing tha...

While it is written in the typical celebrity book style, it is also a sweet book. I did the audiobook so you can hear Chrissy's honest voice about the life events that shaped who she is. You hear the gratitude in her voice...which makes it different than the typical celebrity book. There was heart here. I also felt her belief in God which makes my heart happy :)She talks about her mistakes, her successes and her dreams and tries to help you fulfi...

I already knew I liked Chrissy, but now I respect and root for her even more. She is so full of light, and I love that this book is designed to be like her talking to the reader as a friend, imparting life lessons she’s learned. I had no idea she had such a tough childhood, although I did know about her acting struggles. All of her current success is so well-deserved, and I can’t wait to see her in something else besides This Is Us.

I LOVED this book! I actually finished it within 24 hours and was sad when I got to the end. Chrissy is great as Kate on This is Us, but she is also a dynamic, authentic, beautiful, inspiring person as herself. The book reads like a dialog with a friend. She had a challenging childhood (to say the least) and struggled/struggles with self-worth and being good enough (don't we all??) but she has such a positive energy & attitude, I couldn't help bu...

I love her character on This is Us and it was interesting reading about the connections to her own life. There is definitely a Hollywood vibe. Mentions of life coaches, Reiki, shamans, essential oils etc. Some of her real personality seems muted by these efforts to be a kind, generous, forgiving, zen-like human being. I enjoyed reading about her life in Florida and her complicated relationship with her family. She has a lot of grit. Her advice ab...

4.5 Thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook version. Read by Chrissy Metz herself, It felt like we were just sitting in a coffee shop having a conversation. Her story is inspiring. She’s smart and funny. I don’t tend to get invested in the celebrity world and their stories, but I love This Is Us, so I was interested. Totally worth it.

Finished this book in a day because I loved it so much. Also, because I listened to the audio version read by the author, which I think added so much to it. Chrissy Metz, you’re my Oprah. Someday we will meet and have lunch.
