I knew I would love this book when I saw it on Netgally. And I was so right! This book is the beginning of an offshoot series from Christi Caldwell’s Sinful Brides series. Our hero has clawed his way up from the streets of London with his ‘brothers.’ Although not related by blood they worked together to become successful. Now all of his brothers have married into the aristocracy and Adair just wants to keep running his gaming hell. But the...

A New Series BeginsChristi Caldwell can tell a story like no other. As her Regency universe expands upon itself, she has taken her readers from the glittering world of the Ton with its incessant concern with propriety and scandal to Upper Ten Thousand house parties where ruin lurks in the next hallway to the agonies of wounded warriors returning home to deal with shattered bodies and shattered minds. But this multifaceted author does not stop the...

I received this ARC from NetGalley and voluntarily chose to write a review. This is the first book in a series, but it didn't feel like it. It felt as if I was reading a book in the middle of a series. I'll confess it was hard to orient myself because there are so many characters and there's so much history between the two rival families. I was lost in the beginning and it took me a while to get a strong grasp on who was who. Even after I was abl...

I was so excited to get to read my first Christi Caldwell book and after reading the blurb I thought that this would be just up my street but unfortunately for me this was nothing like I was expecting. I really had high hopes for this book but what I found was that it was very hard and slow to get into with too many characters in the first few chapters that caused me a lot of confusion. As this is the first in a series it felt like that I was mis...

Series: Wicked Wallflowers #1Publication Date: 4/3/18I love Christi Caldwell’s writing and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. That said, I really believe that this book should have been the final book in the Sinful Brides series rather than the first book in the Wicked Wallflowers series. It wraps up all of the loose ends for the previous series – including the final unmarried brother and it introduces the characters for the Wicked Wallflowers s...
  • Amy ~ Love At 1st Read
Romeo and Juliet, Heathcliff and Catherine, and now Adair and Cleopatra can be added to my list of favorite star crossed lovers. I love stories of seemingly insurmountable conflicts between families. Like love, feuds create a parallel universe where normal rules don’t apply. And when love defies the conflict, it makes for some very compelling reading. Adair Thorne had been orphaned by fire as a child and now his home, his livelihood, The Hell ...

I want to start this review by stating that I requested this book because it was touted as the first book in a new series. I would disagree - I did not read the previous Sinful Brides series, but every single person in this book (save one very minor character) is a character from that series - the hero in this book is a "brother" to the previous series heroes and the heroine is the "sister" to the villain in that series. I am all about authors br...

I share a love of historical romance with my sister-in-law so when she told me I had to push everything aside to read The Hellion, I wasn't sure what to make of it. But I trusted her and read it over the weekend. WOW! What a terrific historical romance. I love the combative dialogue and sizzling chemistry between the characters. There's so much to this story than just romance, though. Pacing was fast but gave me time to savor the time period. Pss...

Two rival familiesOne bargainOne world destroyedAdair Thorne, the last single owner of the Hell & Sin Club, is certain of few things in life. The top of the list – the Killoran’s will forever be the enemy. The second – he will never, ever, give his heart to another.Cleopatra Killoran will 1) never trust a member of the Black family, they will be bitter rivals to the end; 2) do anything to protect her family; even if it means sacrificing her...

This reader prefers a short review, and that is what was intended, short and sweet. Hmmm, not this time. ☺Previously, in Christi Caldwell’s Sinful Brides Series readers met a family unlike any other. A band of street brothers who owned and operated one of St. Giles biggest gaming establishments, the Hell and Sin Club. The bigger than life, Ryker Black, was the leader and head of that family, and what an awesome world filled with unforgettable...

(Audiobook Review)This is sort of a new series by Christi Caldwell spinning off one of the characters in the Sinful Brides Series. The author is reuniting the Black Family proprietors of the Hell and Sin and the Killoran Family, their arch enemy. It introduces the story of Adair Thorn who is the brother of Ryker Black. The plot of the story is about the truce or pact made between the two families in the last book of the Sinful Bride Series where t...

This is such a great first book to kick off the Wicked Wallflowers series! I enjoyed this tremendously! One of the things that I especially enjoyed was that while it is set in the popular Regency period, the hero and heroine are unique in that they both grew up on the rough streets of the worst part of London. They have each adopted a street "family" and the two families are declared enemies. The circumstances which bring them together are also u...

Another amazing read. Great to see much loved characters from the Sinful Brides series again, and to enjoy the journey to happily ever after of the final Hell and Sin brother. Saying that, however, the story comfortably stands alone. The story is an enemies to lovers one, with both the hero and heroine staunchly belonging to opposing sides. There are several twists and turns which take the reader on an exciting journey and make The Hellion incred...

The Hellion is the uniting of the Black family owners of the Hell an Sin Gaming Hell and the Killoran family of the Devils Den Gaming Hell. Two rival gangs that hate each other are untied in a cause to make the Killoran's expectable in the eyes of the Ton. The Black family has already made this transition so to make a peaceful truce they will help the Killoran's. They will bring out Cleopatra Killoran and help her find a proper Lord to marry. Oh ...

Sucked me in and I stayed! The sparks between the two main protagonists are fiery. The fiercely denied attraction flares between them growing into a love tangible.Cleopatra Killoran is going to have a season and marry a lord if she can survive the ton in general and Adair Thorn in particular. Being thrown into the lair of the enemy, into Thorn's family stronghold, arch enemies of the Killoran's is a choice Cleopatra makes to protect her siblings. ...

The Hellion by Christi Caldwell is the first in the Wicked Wallflowers series. Christi has a wonderful way of telling a story. This book was fantastic. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. This book has fires, paternity, miss trust, family feuding, romance, acceptance and much more. All things to find in a Regency Romance. I highly recommend this book.

The end of a great Series leads right into a new Series. We have met the Hero and Heroine in The Sinful Brides Series and now The Wicked Wallflowers begins with Adair Thorne and Cleopatra Killoran.Adair and Cleo's families have always been enemies. They both run gaming hells in St. Giles. They both grew up in the dangerous streets in the worst neighborhood in London. They learned that to survive you will do anything, beg, steal and even kill if t...

I received The Hellion by Christi Caldwell from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This is the first book in Caldwell's Wicked Wallflowers series but is a continuation of her Sinful Brides series.Adair Thorne is the last of the family from the streets to fall. His passion is their club, Hell and Sin Club. Watching it burn to ashes brings back not only bad memories of his true family but also, a knowledge that their sworn enemy destroyed his...

The Hellion by Christi Caldwell is the First book in the Wicked Wallflowers series. This is the story of Adair Thorne and Cleopatra Killoran.Although this is the first book in a new series this does tie in with the Sinful Brides series. Most of the main characters from the previous books are in this one. But this still can easily be a standalone book, I just wanted to mention that in case you would like to continue catching up with that series. T...

This is the first book in Christi's new series Wicked Wallflowers and it follows on from The Sinful Brides. In this book we are following Adair Thorne and Cleopatra Killoran. For me this was a fantastic book, even though this is a love story, it was more than that. The story was more about trust and honesty. At first Adair and Cleopatra are enemies well they do come from rival families, at first I thought I wouldn't like either Cleo or Adair, but ...

I haven't read Christi Caldwell in years so when I had the chance to win an advance copy of her latest book The Hellion, I grabbed it right away. It did not disappoint. Christi is a fantastic writer and I like that her characters are not the typical members of the ton. Hate-to-love is one of my most favorite tropes and The Hellion delivered in slowly turning the antipathy between Adair and Cleo into reluctant attraction, respect, and finally love...

Another average offering from Caldwell. Either I've become more choosy since first reading CC's books a few years ago or her standard has dropped, but I have not been too impressed by her recent books. The premise is just not convincing here and they fell into lust way too quickly from being mortal enemies. At least let 24 hours pass, before trying to dry hump one another! Jeez.

I love revisiting the family from the Hell and Sin club. Adair's story did not disappoint. This Romeo and Juliet story of warring families is a deep emotional journey as Adair and Cleo have suffered through the same abuses. Cleo is put in a position that any woman would wilt under, but she is a survivor. The story was frought with tension on many levels that made you hold you breath until the very end. Once again we are delivered heartfelt charac...

What an intense Journey Christi took us on!!Cleopatra Killoran was born on the streets and marked forever by the struggles she had to deal with. Mac Diggory certainly left a lifetime of bad impressions on her. Adair Thorne was brought up on the streets but pulled himself out along with his brothers - not blood, but street brothers. They all worked hard and married above themselves, except Adair. Adair is put in a position to help Cleopatra, the s...

❤❤❤❤❤💋💋A very special book .What makes it so special? Adair Thorne?Cleopatra Killoran ?It’s both those and so much more .It’s the fact that Christi has created these two characters.Characters that are hard , unrelenting, unreachable, and she developed them .That evolution is not easy , these people were born , raised and live in St.Giles , it’s a rough relentless, environment. But by putting the two together she’s created s...

Christi Caldwell is an ‘auto buy’ author for me. Trust me when I say that her’s are books that can be bought without reading the blurb, a review or a recommendation. It has to be because of the whole ‘world’ she creates in each book, introducing characters that grow and evolve and are so intriguing that we want to know more about them or want them to have their own story. It’s like a vortex (in the nicest possible way!) that you get c...

Christi Caldwell does not merely pen stories, she creates worlds. Saying that I got sucked into this book would be an understatement. I got yanked into this world. Closing the book at the end was like a punch in the gut. It jarred me back to the present, and made me long for the next book in this series so that I could return.Cleopatra is one of my absolute favorite regency heroines to date. She is bold, daring, completely refreshing and unpredic...
