Cute illustrations, funny lines, and adorable moments in a classroom - what's not to like. One of the few children's books that made me laugh out loud. Nicely done! '

When in doubt, choose a Ryan T. Higgins book to read. They never disappoint.

I have read this book with my 4 year old every night since it arrived. I love when a picture book can make both of us laugh and this one certainly does. It's hilarious! He loves it because it makes him giggle and so do I. I also love the diversity depicted within Penelope's classmates and how it subtly addresses starting school jitters. This one made it to the favorites shelf right away. I highly recommend it!

AAAAHHHHHHHH I love this author. I really do. This one was super adorable, full of food, and utterly humorous. I also want Penelope’s backpack that can hold 300 sandwiches. I need that to carry my books.

Oh. My. Goodness. Such a funny book. Absolutely hilarious. I love it. Immediately recommended it to a couple co-workers and friends and family members.I love not only the illustrations and the story, but how it teaches empathy. Many young kids have trouble understanding that other people feel things, and how your actions can affect how they feel. Such a fun book to teach a deep concept!

This is a hilarious book on how a T Rex feels out of place at school and how to fit in.

Another hilarious picture book by Ryan T. Higgins! Penelope is a T-Rex starting school. She’s looking forward to making friends with her classmates, but that doesn’t go as planned because they taste delicious! It’s not until the class pet takes a liking to Penelope’s finger that she realizes being eaten is no fun. Loved the diverse children represented in this book, and I think students will pick up on theme (treat others the way you want...

Laugh out loud funny, Higgin’s latest is about a T-Rex named Penelope trying to make friends on the first day of school - except she can’t help but eat them! She quickly learns after being bitten on the finger by the class goldfish that being eaten is not fun. The class Penelope is in had a diverse group and the pictures cute and hilarious.

What does it mean to be eaten in the context of stories for children? Ever since the mythical Cronus ate his children, wolves gobbled up two out of three little pigs, Red Riding Hood and her grandma, and a little old lady swallowed a fly, protagonists have been eaten or do the eating themselves. Max’s Wild Things famously threaten to eat him up, so much is their love for him. Klassen toyed with implied character consumption in two of his hat bo...

This book is hilarious! Seriously! What else can you do when you are a T- Rex and your classmates are children. Oh, my heavens! I can’t stop laughing about this children’s book. I love it when Penelope Rex arrives home from school and her father questions her about her day and then comments, “You see, Penelope, children are the same as us on the inside, Just tastier.”Penelope is nervous to start school but with her 300 tuna fish sandwiche...

Penelope T. Rex is starting her first day of school. She is beyond nervous and wants to know how many teeth her classmates will have. Dad packs her lunch, 300 tuna sandwiches and one apple juice. She’s expecting dinosaurs like herself but instead discovers that her classmates are children. Since children are delicious, she eats them. Until, her teacher demands she spit them out. She tries to make friends but can’t because they’re all scared...

It's Penelope Rex's first day at school and she desperately wants to make friends. Unfortunately, her classmates are delicious, and soon she is yelled at by the teacher to spit them out. She tries and tries, but she just can't help herself, until one day Walter the goldfish takes a bite out of her! Excellent and humorous way to explain to children how to replace their inappropriate behavior with empathy to make friends.

There is so much to learn about going to school and making friends with your classmates. But when Penelope eats her classmates they don't want to be her friend. She must learn what it feels like to be eaten and then she will be able to make friends. Funny illustrations and watching Penelope and her frustration. From the author of the Mother Bruce series. Another good story.

"I didn't make any friends!" Penelope cried. "None of the children wanted to play with me!""Penelope Rex," her father asked, "did you eat your classmates?""Well...maybe sort of just a little bit."I laughed out loud at this hilarious and heartwarming story of first day of school jitters. When Penelope shows up to school to realize that she's the only dinosaur, the reader realizes trouble is on its way. The expressive illustrations paired with spar...

I was lucky enough to read an advance copy of this book and WOW! I laughed the whole way through and can't wait to pick the kids up from school so I can share it with them. A very funny read that has a great (well hidden) message. Definitely check it out when you can!

Penelope Rex is just like any other kid starting school. She's anxious, excited, and has her bookbag packed and ready to go. On her very first day of school, she discovers there is something hugely different between her and her classmates. You see, she's a little tyrannosaurus-rex and everyone else is...*gulp*...a child. Everyone knows that children make for such tasty little snacks! Penelope can't help herself; she starts eating her classmates (...

Being a huge fan of the Mother Bruce series, I missed seeing grumpy Bruce the bear with his geese in this book. That feeling immediately evaporated when I learned this about Penelope the main character, a young T-Rex. "Ponies were Penelope's favorite. Because ponies are delicious." The shock of her first day of school occurred when Penelope, entered her classroom and realized all of her classmates were HUMANS! "So she ate them. Because children a...

I can't with this book. It is so stinkin' cute. I read a lot of chapter books and picture books but swore that I wouldn't add them here because it might "skew" my reading challenge. I.don't.care.First, let me tell you...I LOVE BRUCE!!! I have all his books and can't wait for the others to come out. As soon as I saw this cover, and before I saw the authors name, I knew it was related to the Bruce books somehow. Here's the quick story: we have a li...

The first day of school can be tough, especially when you eat your classmates! This funny book about a little girl T-Rex learning how to get along with others at school would be terrific to share with kids that are getting ready to start school themselves or maybe just need a reminder about how to treat others. Penelope Rex is all excited about starting school, but things don't go well for her after she eats her classmates. No one wants to be fri...
