My reviews can also be seen at: https://deesradreadsandreviews.wordpr...This was my first read from Michele Campbell and I really enjoyed it.The book opens with a young girl locked in a boarding school infirmary. She has a big lump on the back of her head but she can’t remember what caused it. She doesn’t want to turn off the lights or close her eyes because then the horrible images will come to her…bloody hands, the long hair fanned out, t...

A dark and twisted book about the complexities of sisterhood and the scandals that can rock a small community! This is my first book I’ve read by Michele Campbell, though I have been wanting to read her first book, It’s Always the Husband, and I really loved it! I read a Q&A with Campbell where she talks about the inspiration behind her first book being her fascination with the concept of frenemies and what the implications are for that type ...

Back to boarding school again complete with privileged, bratty teens and the good twin/bad twin trope. Lots of angst about fitting in and falling out combined with misunderstandings and murder. It’s not bad but it is too long with characters’ inner turmoil on sensory overload. I certainly could have done without the epilogue.

4 intriguing and scandalous stars to She Was the Quiet One! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Somehow there is always a fascinating story to be told about a boarding school, and She Was the Quiet One is set at The Odell School in New Hampshire.Rose and Bel Enright are twins who have recently lost their parents. They are enrolling at Odell, and soon after, they develop a fierce rivalry. One sister is known for her beauty, while for the other it is her intelligence....

She Was the Quiet One is the second thrilling novel by Michele Campbell and having read It’s Always the Husband last year I was rather curious about this one. You see, I was completely torn with It’s Always the Husband in the fact that I just didn’t care for the characters and a few details here and there but found the writing absolutely compelling anyway. Needless to say that I wanted to know if this new story would match up with her writi...

4.5-stars! She Was the Quiet One is an Adult Thriller that takes place at a private school for very wealthy kids. Let's get this out of the way real quick - I am absolute TRASH for any story that takes place in a private school or prep school. I went into this book blind and had no idea that this was the type of story this was, so yeah, elated at that. The plot centers around twins, Bel & Rose Enright, who after losing both parents get sent to Ode...

3.5 Stars!Thank you to St. Martin's Press for the advanced Finished copy of this book! That Thing. Her Sister. Her Twin. This was my first Michele Campbell books. I've heard awesome things about It's Always The Husband (it's also sitting on my TBR shelf) so I was really excited when I heard she was coming out with a new one. This book has been receiving a ton of hype as a best book of the summer.Bel and Rose are fraternal twins. They've had a tou...

3.5 STARS Bel and Rose are orphaned twins and rivals, one is wild, one is quiet, but is one a murderer? The twins wealthy Grandmother sends them off to The Odell elite boarding school for their high dollar education. Bel seeks to "fit in" and be accepted by the cool group on day one, while Rose is studious and interested in her education. (OK, they are pretty much opposites). Family is family though, and these two sisters do care about each other...

Betrayal, deception, and lies! What a killer prep school slash mean girls murder mystery. And I mean that both literally and figuratively. At the beginning of the story, we have Rose and Bel, twins who have recently enrolled in Odell prep school - we know that one of the twins has been murdered, but we don’t know which one, why, or by whom. The reader has to unravel the story along with the characters in a mixed narrative as well as with police ...

Boarding schools, much like summer camp, usually make great settings for mysteries. I think it's the lack of parental supervision that keeps things interesting because those darn kids are always able to sneak stuff past the adults in charge. In this book, twin sisters Rose and Bel Enright are sent by their grandmother to a boarding school in New Hampshire after the death of their mother. After arriving at The Odell School, the girls soon realize ...

Thanks you to St. Martin’s for the gifted copy that was sent to me. She Was the Quiet One by Michele Campbell was quite addicting. This one is told in multiple POVs which is always fun.Orphaned fraternal twins, Bel and Rose, go to live with their estranged Grandmother after their mother passes. Immediately, Grandmother ships them off to the Odell high school, an elite boarding school. The girls are very different from each other and on day one ...

3.5 do we really know those closest to us starsIf you have grown up with siblings, you are probably acutely aware of the rivalry that oftentimes occurs in a family. There is always that competition, be it for parent's accolades, a school's praise, or even being judged on attractiveness. It crops up in one's daily life that look for and need for acceptance, for love, for knowing out of all the rest, you are the best. Such was the need for twins Ro...

I received a free e-copy of She Was the Quiet One by Michele Campbell from NetGalley for my honest review. This book is about fraternal twin girls. Their father died when they were young and then their mother passed away when they were teenagers. They then went to their their paternal Grandmother's who lived in a big, beautiful home in Connecticut. The Grandmother, being very wealthy purchases all new clothing for the girls and then sends them to ...

After the death of their mother, twins Rose and Bel Enright wind up at Odell Academy in New Hampshire. They are sent by their wealthy grandmother, who has no idea what to do with the teenagers now foisted upon her. Rose is the good twin--good grades, good friends, good behavior. Bel, on the other hand, is known for going a bit wild. But it was Bel their mother favored--much to Rose's consternation. Floundering after the loss of their mother, Bel ...

5 Stars + Bestselling author, Michele Campbell returns following (2017) It's Always the Husband with her latest "unputdownable" edgy suspense thriller SHE WAS THE QUIET ONE—Cleverly crafted, twisty and dark, this cat-and-mouse tale will grab you and never let go until its grisly, gratifying, and jaw-dropping conclusion. Dirty little secrets. “The only quiet woman is a dead one.” —Sylvia PlathTwin sisters Rose and Bel find themselves p...

As is the case with most thriller/suspense novels that I read, my review will be relatively short, since I believe it’s always best to go into these types of books knowing as little as possible. I will admit that I was a little put off at first from reading this book, as I read in the summary that the story revolves around a murder mystery at a boarding school and quite honestly, this past year, I had already read more than 1 book with this sam...

Oh, man this was so good! I thoroughly enjoyed Campbell's previous book entitled "It's Always the Husband" so I was eager to get my hands on this one and it didn't disappoint! "She Was the Quiet One" follows the lives of twins Rose and Bel who are very different to one another. When their mother passes away, they move to New England to live with their grandmother and are both enrolled in Odell academy, a school attended by rich, privileged kids. ...

4.5! Michele Campbell's debut, It's Always the Husband was a book I very much enjoyed in 2017 and since this one was announced, I had been looking forward and am pleased to announce it did not disappoint. There is something about books set at boarding schools that immediately intrigues me, I'm not sure why, but usually this is a breeding ground for salacious drama (my favorite kind)! One other thing I love - TWINS! and twin drama! Read this book ...

3 starsMany thanks to Goodreads Giveaways and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC!Twin sisters + haughty boarding school + murder= A book full of characters oozing with petulance and malice. It’s like Mean Girls meets Cruel Intentions in this psychological thriller, full of immorality and wicked cliques. While I felt there was much to be desired in terms of shocks and twists, nonetheless, this book kept me reading and hanging in there until the v...

4 StarsThis thriller earned 4 very chilly, twisty stars from me! SUMMARYBel and Rose, land at the prestigious New Hampshire boarding school, Odell, when their mother dies and they are sent to live with their long lost, very wealthy grandmother. Although the girls are twins, they couldn’t be any more different. Rose is a responsible, quiet, studious rule follower while Bel is a bit of a reckless wild child in the making. Despite their difference...

Do you ever finish reading a book and feel like you've just watched a movie? I can picture every single character and scene from "She Was the Quiet One" by Michele Campbell like it unfolded right before my eyes. Campbell had me hooked from the very beginning. A twisted story of 2 orphan twins who attend a new boarding school which results in one ending up dead and the other being accused of murder. "She Was the Quiet One" is worded so well yet so...

This is a fun, twisted read that is easy to devour quickly. I probably would have read it in two sittings if I'd had the time. Sadly, it ended up stretched out a bit more. The good thing is that the characters stayed in my mind, so I had no problem jumping right back in where I left off and didn't have to go back and re-orientate myself with the story or characters. I love books featuring twins, it usually makes for an interesting story. These tw...

I have a bit of a thing about mysteries set in schools, so I couldn’t resist giving this a try. The novel opens with a girl locked in the infirmary, a large lump on her head, and an accusation of killing her twin. Of course, we do not know who, or which one, indeed. We then go back from the events in February, to the previous September, when two twins – Rose and Bel (Isabel) Enright – arrive at Odell Academy, a prestigious, private school. ...

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review. When Bel and Rose Enright are sent to The Odell School, a prestigious private school, after the death of their mother, they quickly begin to drift apart. Bel falls in with the “wrong crowd” and is soon pulling pranks and risking suspension while Rose is towing the line and following the rules, almost too compulsively. The ...

I have to point out how much I love Campbell’s titles, It’s Always the Husband is so clever and this one is pretty smart as well! In an over saturated market things like a strong title always stand out from the crowd and after reading both of her books I can now say that there’s much more to her books than an eye catching title. They’re of the slow building, character driven variety but they sure pack a punch in the end. This is told from ...

When we break a good resolution, we usually tell ourselves that it is only this one time and for a good reason. In my case, asking She Was the Quiet One from NetGalley after swearing only to request review copies of new books by authors I had previously read and liked was the specious attraction of the setting—Odell, a boarding school in New Hampshire. I had just completed a novel of my own set at a boarding school in New England that I thought...

You would think that twins sisters would have a bond like no other. Especially if they had lost both parents and all they had were each other. Are Bel and Rose Enright an exception to this rule? Bel is outgoing, a fashion trend setter, artsy, makes friends easily. Rose is quiet, polite, studious, the rule follower. They are twins but they couldn't be more different.Bel and Rose lose their mother leaving them no other family except for their grand...

Rose and Bel Enright are twin sisters. After their mother dies, their grandmother becomes their guardian, and enrolls them in a prestigious boarding school. Rose is excited about the opportunity, but Bel is not looking forward to the new changes. Once at the school, the sisters drift apa...
