I really loved this retelling of King Midas.I think it's best to go into this book without knowing too much.  I knew a little of the King Midas story, but not very much.  I had read the synopsis awhile ago, but I didn't reread it before starting the book and I'm glad I didn't.  I was just able to read and really enjoy the story. This is mostly Kora's story.  Her father, King Midas, turned her into gold by accident when she was young.  He was ...

*4.5 stars*I can count on one hand the number of books that I’ve read that are written so beautifully that you end up being completely enchanted and immersed into the world to the point that you don’t even notice how much time has passed by and this book manages to do it within the first few pages of the prologue. “A Touch of Gold” follows Kora, the daughter to the infamous King Midas as she struggles to come to terms with her curse that ...

I received an e-ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. The story is a very, very well written kind-of sequel to the ancient Greek myth of King Midas, who wanted the power to turn anything he touched into gold. His greed had cost him his daughter and after praying to the gods, he was able to repent and get his daughter back."A Touch of gold" takes this myth places it into a different setting and continues with Kora, the daughter of M...

I received this book as an advanced reader's copy because the patrons in my library and myself included are die hard fans of modern versions of classic fairy tales. Sullivan examines a whole new range of conflict of the classic tale of King Midas battling his curse of the golden touch and how he turned his daughter into gold. Now with a whole new twist and a new story line added, Sullivan does a tremendous job taking the reader away to a side of ...

I really enjoyed this book. I had no expectations, but what I found was a creative spin on the Midas story. It started with the myth but then expanded quickly from there, focusing on Midas' daughter who was turned to gold and now has mysterious powers because of the curse. The book ended up being reminiscent of the daughter of the pirate king with its own spin. I enjoyed all the characters and the twists. While I called the twists early on, I sti...

Official Comments: Utterly charming! This fresh take on a classic tale will be treasured by fans of myth and romance alike. Unofficial Comments: Annie's writing is gorgeous! WOW. This story is such a treat!

This was a fun YA fable reimagining and adventure story. Think Frozen with gold instead of ice.

4/5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | I loved this book! It was refreshingly different! I am a big fantasy reader and this was a nice break from what I have been reading lately. This is a retelling of King Midas and his golden touch. We have all heard this story growing up but Annie takes a fun and interesting approach to this story by following the cursed King’s daughter, Princess Kora. Kora has been locked up and hidden in her kingdom for years after suff...

Excellent book. I love that the main character, who is female, grows as a character throughout the book and in the end is able to gain confidence to save herself.

Thank You Edelweiss for providing me a free review copy in exchange for an honest reviewThe Midas Touch has always been super interesting to me, so when I found out A Touch of Gold was going to not only center around the idea of The Touch, but follow Midas' once golden daughter as she tracks down missing gold stolen by a band of pirates, it rocketed towards the top of my TBR pile. However, the finished product was...well...let's just say it left ...

I received an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.I've always been a sucker for myth and fairytale retellings, so obviously I was excited to get my hands on this version of the Midas story. Princess Kora has been haunted by her father's touch ever since he accidentally transformed her into a gold statue. Thankfully, she's now a living, breathing human, but her skin has always held onto the golden sheen it once acquired. P...

4.5 Stars! I really enjoyed this book! There is a great balance of action, romance with out overpowering Kora's strong feminine character! There was a plot twist I was not expecting and that never happens! I would recommend this book but keep in mind this is following mostly King Midas' daughter so it is not technically a retelling of King Midas but it gives off the same vibes!

You can see my full review here!*I received an eArc of this book from the Publishers through Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review*I had some issues with the story for the first 50%. The instalove aspect of the romance, Kora’s cousin Hettie and the format in the sequence of events were flowing… but then everything flipped on it’s head. Plot twist, different aliases… new love interest… and it was great. Kora as the main character too...

The premise entirely captivated me. The concept of a girl who was turned to gold because of her father who also has secret powers? Count me in. And the premise really delivers in a fun and unique way. It’s not only about Kora and her powers, but also about Kora learning to accept herself, of her realizing that she doesn’t need to push people away. She cannot remain an island, afraid of touch.full review: https://utopia-state-of-mind.com/revi....

When King Midas turned his daughter Kora into gold and the god told them how to reverse it, everyone thought the gold curse was over. They were wrong - Midas messed up one of the rules. Now Kora has permanently golden skin, although she can still move, and she has other abilities. Unfortunately, her appearance makes people flee in terror and her abilities make her a target for fortune hunters...A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan was a pretty inter...

I'll start by telling you I'm giving this one FIVE gold stars because any book that has me wishing for more five days later is worth every star I can give it. If you're familiar with the story of King Midas and his golden touch, then you'll love this part two almost. We know he turns his daughter gold but what happens after that is where this book comes in. Kora is still golden, but she hasn't ever left the palace but she has to now because only ...

I am going to state an unpopular opinion here. I always have at least two books going at once, one in physical form and one on my kindle. I thought "A Touch of Gold" sounded good but I was really excited to read "To Kill A Kingdom" which has received a lot more buzz. Both books have pirate themes and also Midas themes (much lesser extent in To Kill A Kingdom). I enjoyed both books, but I enjoyed "Touch of Gold" more. The story was so unique and I...

3.5 stars “Once upon a time, a little girl helplessly watched as liquid gold spun a web across her tiny frame, racing to wrap her up in an icy cocoon.” And with that opening line, I was captured. A Touch of Gold is a lighter fantasy with familiar elements that readers will recognize, but it’s still enjoyable and an adventure to read. Kora displays great character growth and I can’t wait to see the next adventure that Sullivan has in store...

I really enjoyed this one!Kora is fun. Yes, she's a bit teen-angsty and I did think she had bigger problems than 'he likes me he really likes me!', but she's got a cool power, some attitude, and she's a good person. She's also pretty darned brave. And I loved her cousin (favorite character alert). At heart, the book is an adventure. You've got dangerous civilians, awesome pirates, love, betrayal, murder and even a few dangerous mythical creatures.P...

I loved this!Adventure, pirates, curses, romance, and gold.I was completely hooked after the prologue. This story is about the daughter that King Midas turned to gold and the after-effects the gold has left on her after she is brought back to life. The writing is beautiful and it’s a very original story. I couldn’t put it down and ended up finishing it that same day. Definitely recommend reading this fun, adventurous story when it comes out i...

I received an egalley of this title via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. Thank you publisher! 1 out of 5 starsWhat did I just read? When I first heard of The Touch of Gold, having just finished Circe by Madeline Miller, I was extremely excited. However, this book fell short, so short. *I received this book for free, in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own!*I was immensely excited when I got approved for this one because I've had my eye on it for a while because, even though the myth of King Midas is quite popular in Greek Mythology, I don't think there are that many novels based off of it! Before I move on to the review itself, I'd like to provide you guys with some general information on the leg...

I am not one who likes to give negative reviews, because I feel that each book holds something different for every reader. Just because I don't like a book, it doesn't mean that somebody else won't love it. Book reviews, like most other product reviews, are just opinions. However, since I was asked for my personal opinion of the book, I have to be honest about my thoughts. Keeping in mind that other readers may feel differently, here is my honest...

E ARC from Edelweiss PlusKora is the daughter of King Midas who was famously turned into gold. Dionysus took a little bit of pity on her father and allowed him to reverse the curse and bring Kora back to life, but he promised to wash ALL of the items he turned into gold with water from the sea, but he missed 12 items. In return, Dionysus left Kora with skin and hair of gold. Fearing for her safety, her father has kept her hidden in the palace wit...
