I'm a huge Lisa Unger fan, but this one just wasn't my favorite of her novels to date. I found myself a little confused in the first half; I had to go back to sections and double check what I had read which became tedious. It's quite possible I'm over the psychological thrillers that have a dream sequence plot, and that's on me. Not a bad read, but left me feeling underwhelmed in comparison to all the other novels by Unger that I've read. Full re...

"I wonder if anyone notices that I am a ghost in my life."Poppy's husband, Jack, was murdered one year ago during his morning run in the park. After his funeral, Poppy disappeared. Her best friend and Mother were concerned and even more worried when Poppy showed up wearing a red dress, confused and with no memory as to where she was during those missing three days. Hospitalized with a "nervous breakdown", Poppy recovers but still does not have an...

I have enjoyed a few of Lisa Unger's novels and I was really looking forward to this one. This one is about Poppy, who is searching for her husband's killer. It has been a year since her husband was murdered while on his morning jog, and Poppy is struggling to make sense of it. She is determined to get answers. As she dreams/has nightmares she can't seem to reconcile if they are actually "memories" of events that could be helpful in solving his mu...

It has been explained thoroughly. All options have been explored and dismissed. The outcome is inevitable. Yet when this anticipated death arrives, we are stunned and shaken. If prior warning of deaths arrival stuns us, imagine the effect of a sudden violent murder can be to the loving wife of the victim.Poppy Lang, the heroine of Under My Skin, waved goodby to her husband, Jack, as he sets off on an early morning jog through Riverside Park. Really fantastic!! I've read Lisa Unger before and she never disappoints!! The characters in this book feel so real and believable. I felt their struggles and frustrations. The ending was a complete surprise, as all good mysteries should be. I highly recommend this book for all psychological thriller book lovers! Special thanks to NegGalley for the advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review.

Under my Skin by Lisa Unger is a psychological thriller about Poppy who's husband Jack is murdered one morning while he is out running.Poppy is determined to find out who the killer is and why this has happened. Unfortunately she is having nightmares and is taking a lot of pills. She thinks someone is stalking her and she is having blackouts and losing time. I found this book really confusing and this affected my enjoyment of the book.I would lik...

Under My Skin is my first read by Lisa Unger, and I'm hesitant to pick up any other of her works, even though I heard that her writing is fabulous. Under My Skin is written beautifully, but falls under the trap of going around in circles until the climax of the story. By that point in time, do I really even care? Poppy's husband Jack was murdered during his run in the Upper West Side last year, and there's been absolutely no leads on who could...

So, I've heard nothing but fantastic things about Lisa Unger. I was ecstatic to get my hands on an early arc of Lisa's newest book.I found myself a tad bit confused in the beginning and had to check couple of times that the characters matched up etc. This became a tad annoying for me and tad tedious. It's a high probability that I may just be a little over psychological thrillers?? haha Poppy's husband was murdered to a random event as the police...

Lisa Unger is a new favorite author for me. This is the third book I've read by her and all of them have been really good! Poppy was a good character who was dealing with the fact that her husband was murdered and the case hasn't been solved. Poppy had a breakdown and had to get help from a counsellor as well as medication to help her sleep which she is mixing with pills her friend Layla gave her and alcohol. Poppy thinks someone is following her...

3.5 ⭐‘s. Haunting suspense with a touch of paranormal! Poppy narrates the story, alternating between past, present, dreams and memories—sometimes unexpectedly. At times I wasn’t sure which of these I was reading, and felt as confused as Poppy! I would have given it a higher rating if some of the transitions were easier to follow. However, when I wasn’t confused, I was totally enthralled by Lisa’s storytelling.Poppy tells us about her ...

How do we know the difference between memories and nightmares? Under My Skin is a twisty, captivating psychological thriller that explores the lingering toll of grief and the enduring power of love and loyalty. This is Lisa Unger at the top of her game.

It's been a year since Poppy lost her husband, Jack, who was brutally murdered during a run through Manhattan's Riverside Park. She has never truly gotten over his death. And stranger still is the fact that Poppy disappeared after the funeral and later shows up in a tight red dress before collapsing. Poppy doesn't have a clue to what happened to her during those days, and the murder of Jack is still unsolved. Poppy is having nightmares and blacko...

Under My Skin is about a woman who has lost her husband in a horrific crime one early morning while he was jogging. The story goes back and forth between the real time and her dreams but she can’t figure out what was real, what was a dream. I found myself getting confused many times during this book but I wanted to find out if they found the killer(s). I enjoyed this book and will look for more books written by Lisa Unger. Thanks to the publish...

A year ago, Poppy’s husband was brutally murdered while out for an early-morning jog. Poppy can’t remember what happened to her in the days following his death. She hasn’t been the same ever since.  At night, she’s having terrible nightmares, and during the day, she keeps seeing a hooded man who follows her everywhere. But how much of this is real? Are the nightmares memories? Does the hooded man even exist? But, most importantly, does P...

This is a story about Poppy and her journey after her husband Jack is brutally beaten to death while out for an early morning run. A run that they usually do together, except that morning, Poppy was ill and opted to stay in bed. Think how guilty you would feel that you weren't there with Jack. That maybe your extra presence could have prevented it. Is that what is going on with Poppy? We are taken for a wild ride inside Poppy's head a year after t...

*4.5 stars*Another stunning book by Lisa Unger! A year has gone by, but Poppy is still reeling from the unsolved murder of her husband, Jack. It doesn’t help that she lost time shortly after his funeral, or that her reality is being peppered with hallucinations of places she’s certain she’s never been, and people she’s never met. What happened to Jack? And is someone stalking Poppy, or is she slowly losing her mind?I loved this thriller. ...

The books is written in 2 parts. Part one is slow, confusing and repetitive. It’s confusing and hard to figure out what is real and what is a dream. Part 2 is better and the who and the why of the murder is revealed almost at the end. It’s guessable but I still didn’t guess it right. Poppy is an unreliable narrator. She’s the epitome of being unreliable actually! I don’t understand her character well. It’s hard to imagine that she con...

I'm a big fan of Lisa Unger and normally her books keep me reading late into the night. This one, however, took me longer to read. I wasn't immediately grabbed into the story line. The first half we meet Poppy, whose husband was murdered. She has spent a year basically having a nervous breakdown. She is seeing things including her dead bloodied husband, a person following her. She doesn't know if these are dreams or for real. She is taking meds wi...

Some might be confused about the sequences in this story as they slip from dreamlike fatigue, questionable memories and medically induced fogs but it makes for a unique way of story telling. I really enjoyed this one and the ending was exciting and left me content.

I was pulled into this book from page 1 and didn't want to put it down. The Main character, Poppy, was a very complex character. Poppy's husband Jack is murdered and Poppy has a breakdown where she loses memory of several days. Poppy is trying to find answers about why Jack was murdered and what happened to her during her breakdown. I was intrigued from the start and did not want to put the book down. Although I had my suspicions the ending was v...

I love this Author's writing and have read all her books. I was totally immersed in this story from the beginning. Poppy suffers a breakdown after the funeral of her husband who was murdered while on his morning run. No one was arrested or charged. Poppy loses a few days of her life and is not sure if she is dreaming or remembering pieces of what happened. Her best friend was keeping a huge secret from her. To say the ending had me gasping out lo...

To say that I'm a fan of Lisa Unger would be an understatement; I've read everything she's written and loved all of it. To say I consumed this book would be a lie; IT literally consumed ME! I was breathless the entire time I was reading. Who knows which are nightmares and which are memories? Certainly not Poppy whose husband, Jack was murdered a year ago and there have been no leads. Poppy is devastated and can't move on with her life, even "losi...
