Self-Knowledge

In Ancient Greece, when the philosopher Socrates was asked to sum up what all philosophical commandments could be reduced to, he replied: 'Know yourself'. Self-knowledge matters so much because it is only on the basis of an accurate sense of who we are that we can make reliable decisions – particularly around love and work. This book takes us on a journey into our deepest, most elusive selves and arms us with a set of tools to understand our ch...

A quick & insightful read. For those familiar with TSOL, there is much in here you will probably have read elsewhere but as an introductory book I’d highly recommend it! Even for those who claim to have strong self awareness (puts her hand up), the transitions of life can still get us down. This was a timely & helpful reminder that who we are & what we feel is within our control, totally normal and - more than that - totally okay to experience....

This is a brief essay in the form of a book. It's been a while since I last read about EQ and this worked like an ice bucket for me to remember some things about myself.

Fantastic introduction with helpful exercises for how to start knowing yourself–and your faulty mind–better. Like all books of this nature, it is likely not for everyone, but fans of School of Life's Youtube channel (of which I am one) will surely appreciate this little volume. It's one I will likely go back to every now and again to remember to ask myself certain probing questions that might help me to clarify my thoughts and actions. It's a...

I liked these essays because they touch the most important topic for this period of my life - self knowledge.I especially enjoyed the chapter - honesty and denial. We lie to ourselves about a lots of various reasons and it is for each one of us to look deeply into our souls and minds, and to answer, at least briefly, who we really are.

This is a nice read. Whether you already know what they are discussing or not, it can be an enjoyable book to (re)visit the concepts highlighted in it.I also liked the easy to follow style, which diverges from usual didactic or scientific styles that can accompany these kind of topics.

This will take no more than an hour to read, but its impact may be long-lasting.

A brief book I would recommend to everyone interested in getting a little more known to themselves. The book also contains some helpful exercises along the way.
