A Gift of Bones by Carolyn Haines is the 19th book in the Sarah Booth Delaney series, and I loved it!! I love the whole series, please keep them coming. Not only is this book really funny at times, it can also be emotional because I feel like I know Sarah Booth and the other main characters. I like to enter the world of Zinnia and the Delta where time has stood still in many ways. Although crime and murder have come to the small town, it is still a place where people know one another, and even your immediate ancestors. So it isn't a stretch to believe that someone would contact a stranger and not only know that person's secrets, but those of the family as well. In this genteel society there are those that have always had the public e...

Ebook/Mystery: This is book 19 in the series and I have only read three others. I do like the series and I am planning to reread book #1 and catch up. Since I read this on two sittings over a weekend, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I like Sarah Booth and her sidekick Tinkie. Living in the south, I can relate to much of what Sarah Booth goes through. It is currently autumn, so I enjoyed all the Christmas feel in the novel. I did get this...

A Gift of Bones is a good small town private investigator cozy mystery.Eve is days away from giving birth when she disappears. A ransom demand is sent to her cousin. In this edition of the the Sarah Booth Delaney series , Cece asks for Sarah Booth help in locating her cousin, Eve, who has been taken. Christmas is coming up and Sarah Booth, Tinkie and everyone else are excited and getting ready to celebrate the holiday. Coleman and Sarah Booth are finally together and will be celebrating the holiday as a couple for the first time. Cece asks Sarah Booth to help her find her pregnant cousin who has been abducted, and not tell Coleman. Why was she abducted? Twists and turns that keep you guessing, humor, and characters so well developed that I ha...

A Gift of Bones revisits the denizens of Zinnia with a poignancy I particularly enjoyed. Perhaps that was due in part to the spirit of Christmas that permeates the antics of Sarah Booth and her sleuthing partner, Tinkie. But perhaps the greater part was due to the self-forgiveness that both Sarah Booth and CeCe discover as the mystery unfolds. And a mystery it is, well-crafted and solidly delivered. Carolyn Haines makes every moment of action and...

I eagerly opened this book to find out what happened with the personal cliffhanger I remembered from the previous book. Nothing, nothing until 45%. Perhaps I mis-remembered and Tinkie's personal craziness from the last story had been resolved. This was the sole reason I was so interested in getting a copy of this book. Tinkie has new craziness in this book which is sort of understandable, but odd. She needs good therapist and despite it mentioned...

This story is a great blend of mystery, romance and Christmas magic. This time the case is personal for private eyes Sarah Booth and Tinkie when their good friend Cece has received a message demanding ransom for her pregnant cousin. Sarah Booth is conflicted since Cece insists that no authorities are brought in to help yet Sarah Booth's boyfriend, Coleman, is the county sheriff. Sarah now has to walk the tightrope between honoring her friend's wi...

A Gift of Bones is part of the Sarah Booth Delaney mystery series by Carolyn Haines. You don't need to have read any others as this book stands alone just fine. The usual mystery, romance, the Christmas season, and a bit of the paranormal can all be found here. Sarah Booth Delaney is romantically involved Sheriff Peters, lives in a haunted home with a humorous ghost, and is ready for the holiday. That is when her friend, Cee Cee, shows up and the...

With this book the events hit a bit too close to home for Sarah Booth. Cece, one of her best friends, needs Sarah Booth and Tinkie's help. The two women followed the small trail of info Cece had. Each new fact bringing about more info that muddied the waters. Of course it didn't help that Cece didn't want Sarah Booth to get Coleman's help, which tied Sarah Booth's hands at time.Tinkie was funny in this one, at times particularly viscous when some...

The book was a short at times fun tale set at Christmas. Sarah Booth is ready to spend Christmas with Coleman when she gets a call from CeCe Dee Falcon who needs her help. Eve Falcon has been kidnapped and the ransom is being demanded from CeCe who is Eve's aunt. CeCe has lost touch with Eve over the years. Sarah Booth and Tinkie of course agree to help but CeCe demands they do not tell Coleman about what is happening. In the end, Eve is found an...

Another suspenseful mystery by Carolyn Haines. Sarah Booth and Tinkie are asked to help Cece find her cousin Eve. Eve has been kidnapped and is being held for ransom. The major problem is Eve is ready to deliver her baby at any moment and the partners have no idea where to start their search for her. Sarah Booth is just getting comfortable in her relationship with sheriff Coleman Peters and she wants to include him in the search, but Cece is adam...

It's amazing what all happens in Zinnia, Mississippi! Sarah Booth and Tinkie help their friend Cece when Cece's cousin's daughter is, she thinks, kidnapped. There are some secrets in Cece's background and family strife. Rest assured, there's humor and hijinks and a little romance between Sarah and Coleman. This is a long running series and for those of us who haven't read them it's fair to say we might occasionally miss an inside angle but that's...

I can’t quit Sarah Booth, but I also get sick of her antics. Each book is so similar to the last one; I feel like she never progresses. This book wasn’t a favorite, which is a shame because I enjoyed the previous one. If something doesn’t actually happen to Sarah soon, (marriage, baby for her, baby for Tinkie...?!) I might give up on the series. It grates on my nerves that she can’t just grow up.

A Gift of Bones is a Christmas edition of Sarah Booth and her cohorts Tinkie and Cece. Since it’s Christmas the mystery involves a baby. An estranged relative of Cece’s is missing and she’s very pregnant. Cece has very little background on her cousin, just a ransom note. This story is the best of Sarah Booth with Christmas tossed in.

Love the Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery series. In this installment, we got romance, suspense, mystery, a kidnapping, all in the frame of Christmas time. The author focuses on the reminiscence of traditions, family values and believing on the magic of this season. Note: I received an ARC for review purposes and an honest and unbiased opinion.

Always Satisfies!!Carolyn Haines knows her stuff. Everyone of her books gives you something to think about. This time it was family and the intricate ways families affect each other. Friendship and it's responsibilities are also highlighted. I love Jitty and her wisdom as well as her wardrobe! This is one of Carolyn Haines' best and thought-provoking work.

Cece Dee Falcon is one of Sarah Booth's dearest friends. So, when her cousin is kidnapped, Sarah's willing to do anything, even hide her involvement from Coleman. Their relationship is pretty strong right now and she doesn't want to mess it up... but it's Cece. And her pregnant cousin.I really enjoyed that Christmas was woven into the story but not super in your face. A nice addition to the series.

I love Carolyn Haines stories.
