Consort of Secrets (The Witch's Consorts #1) by Eva Chase

Consort of Secrets (The Witch's Consorts #1)

Every witch knows the rules: Stick to your own kind. Never reveal your powers to outsiders. Take a consort from the witching families or kiss your magic good-bye forever. For years I've been quiet, obedient Rose Hallowell. I accepted the man my stepmother chose for me. But I never stopped missing my long-ago friends. Now we're back on my childhood estate to arrange my marriage. The boys I grew up with? They're still in town—and they haven't forg...

Ever since Reverse Harem Month, I've been keeping an eye on the subgenre. There's something extra delightfully naughty about not having to choose between your favourite types of heroes. You can have the bad boy, the nice guy, the dark and handsome figure... It may not be common in real life, but romance allows us to explore our fantasies, and having a group to give you the love you desire (physically and emotionally) is actually a rather nice one...

Wow. Just wow. The fact that I read this book in no time at all says plenty already. Pretty sure I read this book faster than I normally do just because of the writing - and that's something I rarely say / admit! It's been a while since I read a fantasy novel with witches that I actually loved reading. Consort of Secrets is now easily at the top of my list. Ea-si-ly.So, obviously, our main character Rose is a witch, but she hasn't gotten into h...

**Review on https://smadasbooksmack.blogspot.com/ **Rose and her boys were inseparable as kids, so much so that her father took her away because those with "the spark" can't commingle with those without. Now, 11 years later, Rose and her parents have returned to the estate abandoned so long ago so that Rose can come into adulthood and marry. But Rose has not forgotten her boys, nor they her. Reverse Harems are my most current reading obsession. T...

On the cover we see Rose Hallowell holding her hips. She must never have revealed that she is a witch. Her fiancé is her beautiful mother who chose her for her. His childhood friends remain in his thoughts, even if they are not of the same world. She will discover family secrets she had never imagined. We lied to him, we betrayed him, to get revenge, she's going to do that to her head.A first volume with engaging characters, a story to take. Eag...

I received an advance review copy in exchange for an honest review. This is a really different and interesting story line by Eva Chase.I have been very into reverse harem fiction lately and while this is not the best of what I have read recently in that genre it is still quite enjoyable and a fun escape. Looking forward to the second book.

4.5. I got sucked right in to this one. The writing was solid, I loved the magic system, Rose, her guys, and her best friend Philomena, who literally came from the pages of a book. Will definitely read more in this series.

Great!Great story. Hopefully they reveal why it worked with her unsparked guys and why they are hiding it. The new arrival hopefully won’t cause too many problems.

Title: Consort Of SecretsAuthor: Eva ChaseGenre: Adult, ParanormalFormat: Ebook - NetGalleyPages: 212Rating: 5Heat: 5Thoughts: Holy crap that was intense! Waiting for the next book is going to leave me antsy. There are so many twists and turns, with a huge shocker near the end that I ended up getting trapped in the book. Couldn’t put it down if my life depended on it, and thankfully I didn’t have to. But I ended up with a huge book hang...

I have been very into reverse harem fiction lately and while this is not the best of what I have read recently in that genre it is still quite enjoyable and a fun escape. I really like the characters and I feel like they are fairly well fleshed out and he story holds my interest. I think this series is stronger than the other books I have read by Eva Chase. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest...

Oh my god, this book was so good! An entirely different universe than her Dragon Mate series, but just as good! Rose and her boys are all characters that you just have to love and root for! There is some mystery and plenty of intrigue. I read it straight through in one sitting! And the end seriously make me desperate for the rest of the story!!

Felt more about the magic than the love... I . Did. Not. Enjoy. Myself. This felt more about the magic then anything else, especially the love...Rose had an almost desperate need for her magic, and seemed willing to do almost anything to get it....This book soooo DID NOT go the way I expected, I read most of “Rose’s boys” and almost immediately felt their connect,it felt strong and beautiful and potent and when I got to the point where the big...

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and this doesn't in any way influence my opinion on it.Warning: Slight spoilers of Rose's BoysLately I have been curious about reverse harems (RH) and since they are currently trending plenty of them have popped-up. I have been looking on amazon for reverse harem ebooks, I ended up purchasing a few (or several ;) ) I haven't read any yet. While in my pursuit for RH books I found Eva Chase, ...

Check out the super-giveaway along with this review and more about the book on my blog, Book-o-Craze!I have to admit that it had been positively ages since the last time I read a reverse harem novel. And, Consort of Secrets is just the kind of book that if you are even a little bit interested in that genre, your interest is sparked right away. In a major way.First things first, what amazed me more about this book was the fact that the pages were f...

In a world where only the women have magic and their consorts refuel said magic by being intimate, we meet Rose Hallowell, a witch soon turning the critical age of 25. If she hasn't taken a consort from one of the other witching families by then, she will lose her magic spark forever.Returning home after a forced 11 years absence fills Rose with joy, even if it is to fulfil an arranged marriage. It also brings back memories of her 5 childhood fri...

In my recent foray into the work of Reverse Harem, I haven’t come across many that I haven’t enjoyed. Most do a wonderful job of building up HUGE amounts of angst and romance, that get the reader almost desperate for the promised “love connection” that these books promise. And when I mean love connection, I mean love with 3+ men. In Chase’s CONSORT OF SECRETS the promise is five men. The main character Rose is a witch, in a world that k...

4 Stars for Rose and Her BoysConsort of Secrets is an intriguing and steamy read, and I'd encourage fans of paranormal (witches, specifically) with an open mind about romance (hello, reverse harem) to give this book a shot! Eva Chase does a nice job building the magical elements of the plot with enough backstory to make me buy into the lore of this specific series, all while splitting the focus between the fantasy and the steam. It's a bit of a s...

Wow this book was so much better than I was expecting... and I was already expecting it to be great.I just finished it and don't even know what to say right now other than I want to read it again and I NEED the next book so bad I don't know how I'm gonna wait a few weeks for it to be released. One of the saddest things to me is that you can never experience something for the first time again. I received an advance review copy in exchange for an honest review. The premise of Eva Chase's new series intrigued me. There's a thousand books about magic out there, so I was interested to see what made this one different. And I was not disappointed. I like the whole idea of the 'spark' and how only females can actually use their spark, but they need males to actually keep their spark lit. It sort of plays into the whole idea of how both males a...

A little bit of everything I enjoy. This book goes back to my original roots of reading, in which I love magick and all it entails. But not only has Eva Chase managed to bring me back to romance with the twist of magick but she has added a whole new layer in ramping up the heat along with the magick. For me this starts off rather passive and mild and builds to much more adult levels of heat. Four sexy men who were part of Rose's past growing up to...

Witches are brought up to know that they cannot have a consort from any family other than one that is in the witching community and that they should keep their powers secret from the ordinary people. Rose Hallowell has been compliant with everything her stepmother has demanded but she still misses her childhood friends. When she returns to her family's estate to prepare for her consort ceremony she ties up with her friends again as they have neve...

This was a romance subgenre I wasn't too familiar with before I picked up this book, but it was a fun introduction! There were times it felt a little closer to a YA/coming-of-age novel (apart from the obvious sexytimes). Rose is supposed to be in her mid-twenties but sometimes felt younger than that, and a lot of it probably had to do with my least favorite part of the novel: her imaginary best friend, Phil (though as I write this, I'm wondering ...

https://thememoryrune.wordpress.com/2...Consort of Secrets is a story about witches with some influences from our beloved fairy tales, but Eva Chase managed to create a unique world from that and enthralls the readers into falling deeper into it.This story is written in a way that gives one such a smooth read, and by the time you realized it you’re nearly done with the book. I received a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. The main reason why I requested a copy of this title was my newfound obsession with everything reverse harem. I didn’t even stop to consider my previous experiences with the author writing, her style. The thing is that if I purely look at the story from the technical parts then it’s pretty great. The writing is so much neater than it was in Dragon’s guard (the other book I read f...

I really enjoyed this book, the story was something different to what I've read before and I liked that it was different. Yes, there are several books out there about Witches, but this take on Witches, how their power works and how they use it was unique and I like the way the author created it.Rose as a main character was strong and determined, although a little naive at times. There were quite a few twists and turns throughout the book but part...

I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is really a different type of reverse harem romance. We have Rose a twenty-four years old and at twenty-five she is suppose to get married or in witch life become consorted to a witching man. Her Stepmother Celestine has consorted with Rose's fiancé Derek to control her powers after the ceremony. Little did they know Rose was little by little becoming aw...

Wow! Another great start to a series by Eva! The prequel "Rose's Boys" gave you background on the developing relationship from childhood of Rose, Jin (mm), Kyler (mmm) , Seth(mmm), Damon (yum), and Gabriel (yummier). Everyone's lives were altered when they were separated. Now this reverse harem story begins with Rose grown up, coming back home and coming into her powers. And Rose isn't the only one who grew up - those boys turned into sexy men! T...

This is a really different and interesting story line by Eva Chase. I really enjoyed reading about Rose and her guys! Rose is a very Interesting character but I think she is quite naive and takes a lot of stuff at face value. I enjoyed her connection to the four guys but I would have liked some more one on one with some of them! I would also love to learn a bit more about them all in the next book and would like to read some more POV from the guy...
