~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~ CHRIST ON A CRACKER was this book good. Like seriously, SO f-cking good! The writing was fantastic. It was very well paced. The plot was super engaging. It was told in a dual POV format. There were twists and turns. Secrets. Intrigue. Mystery. Danger. It was smokin' hot. I LOVED the setting (New Orleans). Last, it ended in a shocking twist of a cliffhanger that I thought I saw coming (and I am STILL a little convinced...

MY REVIEW can also be found on my blog: KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS Once upon a time, in a far, far away land, when I'd first found myself alone and scared, I'd pictured my saviour, I'd imagined my Prince Charming as the requisite blond with the blue eyes and the tall physique-to say nothing of the fact that he'd be sweet and gentlemanly and oh-so-handsome. Lincoln Asher failed on every front-aside from his Haint blue eyes. SWORN: A full le...

Good Lord people!! The minute I read the blurb to Sworn I knew I needed to read it. And honestly? This story blew.my.mind!!! This was so well written. Lincoln and Avery were fantastic. They were so sexy and this story was raw, gripping and so intense. I never wanted it to end!!On the run with secrets so deep, Avery Washington had no intentions of getting involved with a man, let alone a mysterious and broody Police Sergeant who had pain and shado...

Oh Wow!!! I Love This Book!!!! I could hardly put this book down and was actually pretty upset when I had to stop to answer questions my family kept asking (like are you going to come eat dinner? Uh no, can't you see I'm too busy swooning over Lincoln and trying to solve a mystery in N'Orleans' shadows). The lead female is such a perfect balance of a badass woman and a lonely little girl. Then, the lead male, Lincoln; just holy hot damn, I mean, ...

Not sure what I want to say other than OMG! Having New Orleans as the setting is almost always a win in my book as I have family in the near area. But the story has to be intriguing and interesting and “Sworn” is both. Both Avery and Lincoln aren’t who we think that they are, especially considering how they grew up. I’m not always thrilled with continuing stories, mainly because I don’t like to wait to see what happens next. But when th...

I would love to give this more than 5 Stars because this book, as with all of Ms Luis’ books, is 10 Stars worthy! This story is suspenseful, thrilling, sexy, thoughtful and funny. Our two main characters, Avery Washington (Laurel) and Lincoln Asher, drive the plot and ride out the twists and turns of this out of control roller coaster ride. It starts out with Ms Luis introducing us to them in all of their imperfections and quirks and some of the...

I'm mostly a romcom reader, so Sworn was a bit of a stretch for me. I love Maria Luis's work, though, so I was curious exactly how this would go. I thought I would read one chapter, get a taste of it, and then read more the next day. An hour flew by before I realized it! I was hooked, and I took it with me to my daughter's soccer practice to sneak in some more time. The chemistry between Avery and Lincoln is off the charts from the very first sce...

By Maria LuisHow do I review this book? Well, Maria hit it out of the ball park with this one. Avery is a girl with secrets and just as they say opposited attract—in this case it is two people with similar backgrounds that attract. Lincoln is a mystery to most everyone. Is he good? Is he bad? Does it even matter because the sparks that fly from Avery and Lincoln are going to set your heart on fire for them to make it.Secrets are the back drop o...

Cliffhanger you've been warned! Wow the end was not what I was expecting but will know more when I read book 2.Avery has been running for years but hidden in plain sight in New Orleans. She wants answers to her mother's murder so disguising herself with different names is the way for her to do it. Then she meets Sergeant Lincoln Asher.Sergeant Lincoln Asher leads a double life and there's no room for a relationship, but then he meets Avery and th...

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:D-A-M-N this is the DARKEST book Maria Luis has EVER written! ITS INTENSE, ITS DELICIOUSLY DIRTY, ITS COMPLETELY CAPTIVATING! I didn't know what to expect when I heard Miss Luis was writing a darker story than we are used to from her. I was nervous, anxious, and excited all at once. And after reading the first book, Sworn, I can say with my whole heart this book was JAW-DROPPING AMAZING! Sworn was really freaking...

OMG! I have read and thoroughly enjoyed every book by Maria Luis. So, when I read that this book was going to be a dark story, I was apprehensive, but reminded myself that she has never disappointed me.From the start, the story was very compelling. WOW, what a fabulous new book from Maria Luis! We know she can write about sexy hockey players if you’ve read her Blades series and then of course she has her sexy Nola series. This is something totally different! It is still some smoking scenes, but you can tell how much she has grown as a writer with this book and all it’s twists and turns. Everyone, you will fall in love with the sexy Sergeant Lincoln Asher. You will be cheering for Avery....

I have been thinking how I can write this review that 1. Will express how amazing this book was and 2. Doing it without giving anything away because you do not want spoilers when you are taken on this brilliant ride. Now I must warn that this book is significantly darker, dirtier and sexier than Maria's other books and I loved every single word of it. Right from the very beginning I was enthralled. Now it does end on a cliffhanger but it was a pr...

Dark and delicious, Lincoln is the best kind of bad boy!We start with a horrific, tragic scene that scars young Avery and forces her to disappear into the shadows of New Orleans. Years later, she's making ends meet, keeping a low profile, and pretty much staying off everyone's radar, all the while collecting information in her pursuit of justice. Meanwhile, Lincoln has clawed his way from his own unfortunate childhood to a respectable position wi...

Baah I wasn't expecting this story at all. Its sit on the edge of your seat and guessing everything that's going on! Absolutely brilliant so far i love Averys character. She comes across quiet yet she's been threw a hell of a lot so she's tough. Maria has done a great job getting both characters to shine in the book. Can't wait for book 2 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I received a book from the author and willingly left this review

Maria Luis takes readers on an entirely different journey then her other books but Sworn does not disappoint! Hot, steamy, dark- I was so full of angst while reading- wondering where these characters were going! Lincoln and Avery both have dark pasts but when they collide together- wow!! And yes thankfully it is a duet because I’m counting the days to get to read Defied!

This book has lifetimes of darkness, struggle to survive, hot as sin sex, andenough mystery it is coming out your ears. This smoking hot story keeps on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going to happen next. The characters are well written and you truly feel like you are in each person’s shoes when reading from their point of view. VERY glad I went in to the story knowing it was a duet because it leaves you hanging at the edge ...
