This is my third Kate Moretti novel and I am a big fan of her writing style. This one has a dark and twisted theme. I reads just like a true crime story . I recently (today actually) saw a Dr. Phil episode where he interviewed a woman whose father is a notorious serial killer. In the novel, Edie is the daughter of a woman who is a convicted serial killer. Well, it gets even more twisted when Edie gets too close to someone connected to one of her ...

I really enjoyed “The Vanishing Year” by this author and was anxious to read her newest book, I was a bit disappointed.30 year old Edie Beckett is trying to get her life together. Fifteen years previously her mother, Lilith, was arrested for the deaths of six women. She was obviously very traumatized by this event and the media frenzy. Now there is an unauthorized biography of her mother and she is just trying to stay out of the limelight. Sh...

This book had some real potential. It could have been more condensed or maybe had another twist or piece of the plot added. It seemed to drag at times or that the author was just trying to fill up space with some unnecessary information. All in all the plot was good and you were a bit blindsided at the ending. I would rate it 3.5 stars.

Since The Vanishing Year, I have had to get my hands on all of Moretti's books as soon as I can and I have found them to get better and better with each one I read! In Her Bones has an incredibly interesting premise (you can read it yourself in the description, I'm not big on summarizing in my reviews, which you all know) and asks some thought provoking questions around family and nature vs. nurture - all throughout understanding a serial killer ...

Kate Moretti's IN HER BONES is a suspenseful, whirling spiral of mysteries within mysteries, plot twists you won't see coming, and characters linked by deadly fates that stretch across the years. Moretti's prose is crisp and masterful, her people rich and real. Don't miss this haunting, wild thrill ride.

4.5 StarsLilith Wade is sitting on death row. She brutally murdered six women ... all of them wives of the men she had affairs with.Edie Beckett is her daughter. She flies low hoping no one will determine who she really is. An anonymously written book detailing their lives has made her and her brother infamous.Gil Brandt is the detective who caught and arrested Lilith Wade. He's also made Edie a 'cause'. For some reason, he has taken an interest ...

When Edie, the daughter of a serial killer, becomes the prime suspect in a murder investigation, she abandons her carefully constructed life and becomes a fugitive. Edie is constantly looking for cracks in her veneer which might allow the legacy of her mother to leak through, so her internal torment amplifies the very real dangers surrounding her. Edie is a fascinating heroine and as her history and that of her mother unfolded, I flipped the page...

I received In Her Bones by Kate Moretti in a giveaway sponsored by the publisher. Review is unbiased. This is the second book I have read by this author. Something about both her books sound familiar to me. I feel like the stories are not original. I found the book to be a tad slow for my liking. Don't let me review deter you. Others seem to really enjoy her writing style. It is just not preference. 3.5 stars

IN HER BONES takes the serial killer genre and adds an interesting twist: Instead of chronicling the murders of the serial killer Lilith Wade or the terror she wreaked on her victims, it gives us the life of someone who loved Lilith, someone who saw her as something other than a monster. That person is Lilith's daughter Edie, now an adult and shuffling through life under the shadow of her mother's crimes. When Edie is linked to a murder victim, s...

Thanks to the publisher, via Edelweiss, for an advance e-galley of this book for an honest review.Of the three Kate Moretti books I've read thus far, In Her Bones stands out as my favorite. Diving into the world of Edie Becket, daughter of a notorious serial killer, was really intriguing. Edie is tormented by her fear that she could inherited her mother's murderous traits, and is dedicated to secretly easing the lives of the victims' families. Wh...

This book was really good until it wasn't. The ending was disjointed and sudden. There are two mysteries. One, who is the murderer and Two, who is the ghostwriter of the true crime book. Neither answer was satisfactory. The build up was well widen and then it just fell apart.Copy provided by the Publisher and NetGalley

In Her Bones by author Kate Moretti is a suspenseful psychological thriller. Edie Beckett has secrets, but her secrets are not harmful. Edie has lived since childhood with the overshadowing horror of her mother, Lilith being arrested and imprisoned for killing six women. The way Edie dealt with the trauma of the media circus surrounding her family and trying to live her life, she journaled every day. She kept notebooks of her thoughts and the con...

A thrilling story filled with twist and turns. Can the actions of your parents lead you to the same path they took? Edie is the daughter of a serial killer. She runs obsesses with the surviving children of the victims her mom killed. Can daughter turn out to be just like mother? Of course Edie doesn't call her mom, but Lillith Wade is how she calls her throughout the book. I think calling her by her name and not her mother she can feel like a vic...

Kate Moretti's superpower is writing dynamic female protagonists who lean towards unlikable, which is totally my sweet spot. IN HER BONES had a lot going for it: a potentially genetic and sociopathic legacy, a murder mystery, and second-tier mystery about who wrote a book about said genetic, sociopathic legacy. Edie's obsessive nature and conscious decision to walk in the grey area of morality made her fascinating to watch, and the descriptive pr...

Kate Moretti is able to bring readers into her dark and twisted world where readers will never see what is coming until they read it. The story has more twist and turns than this reader expected. While the story is more of a physiological thriller than mystery as readers follow Edie on her quest to understand those effected by her mothers choices. In her Bones is slow moving for the first half of the book but slowly picks up as Edie struggles with...

This is a fascinating, well written book! Imagine growing up in a seriously dysfunctional family and having your mother arrested for serial murder. The looks, the questions from everyone, asking "how did you not know?" Questioning yourself, "do I have the murder gene?" and looking inside yourself asking "how did I not know?"Beautifully, beautifully done! I loved this book.I received a copy from Goodreads for my review.

Kate Moretti has done it again. she has created a novel that demands to be read. her strong characters and compelling story line make the reader want to continue the novel and not put the book down. The author advises that the idea of this novel came from the fascination with true crime stories. i am also addicted to these wanting to know what makes the killer tick and yes what happens to not only the victims families but how are those close to th...

Moretti writes a forward to In Her Bones that really resonated with me. I, too, am so curious about the family of killers. The daughter of The Happy Face Killer had a show on investigation Discovery (my favorite channel) where she had the family of a killer meet with the family of the victims. It was fascinating! I knew going into this book I would be intrigued. The story is told in 1st person from the daughter (Edie) of a female serial killer (L...

In Her Bones by Kate Moretti is a gripping read exploring the life of Edie Beckett, the thirty year old daughter of a serial killer. Edie has spent the past 15 years trying to stay under the radar avoiding the backlash of her mother's crimes. Edie documents their lives and movements and loses all sense of boundaries when she becomes too cl...

I received on ARC of this novel as a Goodreads giveaway, and boy am I glad I did!! This is my FAVORITE novel Kate Moretti has written so far! Edie is a fabulous character, and I was intrigued by her the whole time. She is different from most main characters, which is what I liked most about her. It was a great ride, and I was kept guessing up until the very end! I definitely recommend reading this when it is released!

I wanted to rate five stars. The book was extremely interesting throughout most of it, but it took a while to hook me. I like my murder mysteries all sewn up in a nice neat package. I read the ending chapters three times and still can't figure out one main component, so I'm disappointed in the ending. The protagonist was extremely intelligent and wowed me with her strategies. I received an advanced uncorrected proof as part of an online giveaway.

Story is a psychological thriller, emphasis on the psychological, with well-fleshed, empathetic characters. There are a couple of lines of mystery, which kept me guessing until the end. There is a bit of romance. What there is not is graphic sex or violence. Book has a satisfying ending, always a plus. I received this book through goodreads

This was interesting because it was pretty unique and not the usual, expected suspense novel. The protagonist is different, not entirely likeable, but clearly a product of her upbringing. Even more than the thriller part is the complexity of the character, her motivations, and the influence of her mother's terrible acts.

Fast paced, dramatic rush to figure this story out. I love this idea for a book. The point of view from a family member of a serial killer. I was hooked from the start because of the concept and the complex characters that you know just enough about that keeps you wanting to learn more about them. Every day was a new piece of the puzzle to this mystery and I loved it.
