Review by Brandon (my husband): Many people have a place they love to go where imagination runs wild and reality is forgotten, the Fablehaven universe is that place for me, I’m so glad Dragowatch continues the adventure. This is a middle grade fantasy adventure series.Seth is back along with his humor; his interactions with other characters are pure entertainment. Kendra helps balance Seth with her thoughtful nature and if I had a journey throu...

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS5/5 StarsI have been following Kendra and Seth's adventures for almost ten years, I'm now twenty, and yet I never seem to outgrow these characters or stop finding them interesting. This series holds such a special place in my heart. I was weary going into both this book and it's predecessor because spin off series in general make me nervous, I was terrified I wasn't going to like it as much as I did the original serie...

Oh my god. OH MY GOD. OOOOOOHHHHHH MYYYYY GAWD! The cliffhanger in this book was as bad/good (depending how you look at it) as the one in the Mark of Athena. I never thought I would see a cliffhanger match up to that one. Why? Why Brandon Mull? Why do you have to do this to me? I don’t even know when the next one will come out. As for the rest of the book, I found the first two thirds kind of boring. There was little to no action from that part...

EARC from Edelweiss PlusIt's hard to believe that Fablehaven came out in 2006-- I still want Shadow Mountain to reissue hardcovers of the first series so I can replace my well-worn ones! While I like this series, it's not quite intense enough for some of my hard-core fantasy fans when they get into 8th grade, but Dragonwatch definitely steps things up a bit. Seth and Kendra, newly minted caretakers of the Dragon Sanctuary, are in an impossible po...

My name is Seth, and Celebrant continues to test the defenses at Wyrmroost. Surprisingly, the Dragon King invited Kendra and I to a feast, and there would be terrible consequences if we didn't go. The event began with Celebrant killing one of his guards who had challenged him for the crown. Then, as food was served, the king declared war on anyone opposing him! Our griffins were killed in the royal stables, and we now have two days to trek home. ...

Plot:Kendra knew there would be trouble when she stood up to Celebrate. But how could she not? Celebrant wanted to destroy the world, and her brother and her were there to stop him; so why play nice? When they were invited to the dragon’s Feast of Welcome, Kendra wanted to turn it down. Yet after already insulting Celebrant once, turning down an invite, might invoke real trouble, one that Kendra was trying to avoid. At the feast she met Ronodin...

Note: I did not read the first book in the series, which was a mistake. The story in book two takes off from where book one left off, and without reading book one, there is too much missing information to easily slide into the second one. In other words, read this one as a series. Also, I only received the first 100 or so pages of this title to review. So, I can only review this first section. Whether or not the rest of the book holds up to these ...

War between the dragons seems inevitable after Kendra and Seth narrowly thwarted Celebrant in Dragonwatch, the first book in the series (definitely read these books in order). Now they are trapped into going to a feast with the dragons, knowing Celebrant will attempt something sneaky. He does and they barely escape. For me, this book really hooked me after Celebrant forces them to walk back to the keep after the feast. However, the introduction of...

If you're a fantasy fan like I am, the first Dragonwatch book left you yelling at the pages, demanding more. That moment has arrived. Wrath of the Dragon King wastes no time in throwing readers right into the action, as Celebrant, King of Dragons, puts a terrible plan into motion that will put Seth and Kendra's lives at risk. Celebrant first invites the siblings to his palace, insinuating that it would be an insult if they didn't attend. Once the...

Seth and Kendra managed to hold onto their stewardship. Kendra personally held off the Dragon King, Celebrant. The dragons, in turn, invite Seth and Kendra to a feast. A feast where supposedly they'll be kept safe and renew alliances. Unfortunately this feast draws them out of Blackwell Keep. And Bracken's cousin, Ronodin, the dark unicorn has shown up as well.I have to say, I kept on waiting for the exciting-holy-crap part of the story to kick i...

I loved the book and I'm so excited for the rest of the series! At first I wasn't excited about the introduction of the new kid characters (in the last book, the cousins arrival to Fablehaven) - but they won me over. Knox is pretty similar to Seth, maybe ruder and hasn't had as much time to grow as a character. Tess is not like Kendra though and Knox and Tess have a different dynamic. Tess isn't responsible like Kendra but is young and innocent a...

I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher.3.5 stars. I thought this was an exciting and entertaining sequel to Dragonwatch. There was a high stakes plot, a compelling setting, and intriguing new characters and character development. As I was reading I was thinking how it must be empowering for kids to read about other kids in such positions of leadership and significance. The story doesn't villainize all the adults or make them du...

I just finished this book. I am absolutely blown away. The entirety of this book was fun, extremely creative and thrilling, just like any other fablehaven book. But the ending of this book has me astonished. This doesn’t feel like it’s in the same boundaries of a normal fablehaven book. The ending is so mysterious, thrilling and horrifying and it answers none of your questions, but gives you just enough information to be astonished and horrif...

I received this book as an advanced reader's copy and our patrons are fans of the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull so we had to give this one a try. Like Fablehaven, it was thrilling, adventurous, captivating, and sometimes violent but the book still leaves you in wonder and your interest will be so invested that you will never ever want to stop reading the book. I am curious to see the direction Brandon Mull takes with the rest of the series an...

Brandon Mull is still one of my favorite fantasy writers for younger children. While I'm engaged in the series, this book lacked some of the punch that others have had, hence the 3 stars. However, 5 stars to the reader of the audio version! He was fantastic. In a book with so many characters, he was able to give distinct voice to each one. Truly, one of the best. This is the first audio book I've done for a book like this, and I'm tempted to go ba...

Here is another exciting adventure with Kendra and Seth as they protect the world from dragon dominion. The ending is quite unsettling and I am interested to see how the Sorensens and company get out of this one.Brandon Mull is doing a good job keeping the Fablehaven world and its characters fresh. He has a vivid imagination and I think that contributes to these exciting stories that are sure to attract young readers and adult readers like me who...

Another strong installment in this world, but I was juuuuuuust starting to see some thin spots in the stretches of its fabric. Plenty of great moments, though. And of course, a bombshell ending. The ultimate value of this book in the Fablehaven mythos will be determined by the next book.I love this series, I picked up the first one 12 years ago, and I would be thrilled to see it not only end strong, but thrive the whole way. I hope it keeps doing...

It's a fun page-turner. It has a variety of new types of challenges, but still feels just like a Brandon Mull book. This series, like Fablehaven, features so many characters in shades of gray, plots, traitors, and sneaky twists. It's great. The ending really sets up a fabulous problem to be dealt with in book 3.

You’ve got to be kidding me. I cannot express my frustration in the ending. Why? Why? Whyyyyy? I’m really invested in this story. And very angry. I want to know what happens next and I want to know now. I’m not going to be able to wait for the next book. I love this book so much but I really hate it. Wow.

War with the dragons is looming and it's up to Kendra and Seth, along with their allies, to save the world. This second installment of Dragonwatch does not disappoint! Adventure, excitement, and danger. What's not to love? And that ending!! My only problem is having to wait for book 3!
  • Sherita

Appropriate for: age 12+I won this book from Goodreads!!!I love everything Mr. Mull writes; he is so engaging. The book took a turn I never would've seen coming and that's awesome. I love not being able to predict a book.

Seth still hasn't grown up and now with Knox, you have to deal with two immature boys who don't think beyond themselves. The storyline follows the same pattern as the previous book and it's getting old. The cliffhanger ending is truly awful!
  • Crystylyn
Suspense! Ah, I need book 3 already! At least we know where the barrel is!
