Gaudete et Exsultate--Rejoice and be glad

Pope Francis' Apostolic Exhoration " Gaudete et Exsultate" (Rejoice and be glad) involves the call to hoilness in the modern world, a topic the pope has explained in this way. "it means letting Christ work in our actions. That His thoughts may be our thoughts, His feelings our feelings, His choices our choices. This is holiness, doing as Christ did is Christian holiness."

O chamado a Santidade é simples e universal.

Rejoice and be glad! The point of this exhortation is to reiterate the universal call to holiness. Francis states, “certainly the most decisive turning points in world history are substantially co-determined by souls whom no history book ever mentions.” YES! In a world (and a church) that seeks honor and success (admit it, this is the goal of so many people...the Church is not exempt), Francis brings us back to the fundamentals, encouraging u...

I enjoyed this a lot. I'm going to have to read through it again and spend some more time reflecting on it. There's a whole lot to take in here. I didn't really get where he was going on gnosticism and pelegianism; I definitely see the influences in our culture but I think it could have used some more detail to explain what exactly he's referring to. The focus on holiness was really good and I think his suggestions on how to deal with the modern ...

Pretty good. Nothing new, but a few things worth pondering about. Please, do not rely on external commentary prior to reading this: when he talks about holiness outside the Church, he limits himself to cases of martyrdom which presuppose a Christian background, becausse martyrdom is dying for Christ. Secondly, finding time for contemplative moments and right discernment among the noise is as important as finding silence to pray.

Inspiring...meant for "middle class of holiness". And sobering as well, has sort of retuning effect.

Genial.

Beautifully simple yet complex, this book filled me with incomparable joy. I hope to live my life this way and hopefully, through God's grace, I can help others.
