Billed as a "contemporary novel with a strong suspense element," I must first and foremost warn those who, like me, aren't into "bodice-rippers" that this book is littered with the stuff. "He was envious of the strands of [her] hair for their right to caress her face at will," is a mild example; most of the rest is far, far more graphic. The suspense part didn't rear its much-anticipated head until the 50% mark (and boy, was I ever happy to see i...

It was the woman who had been weeping on the ferry."......Maggie is off to “Solace Island.” An escape attempt from the worst thing that has ever happened to her. Her sister, Eve, goes to be with her. Seeking peace and quiet, it soon turns to anything but.I instantly loved “Solace Island.” It’s the kind of place I hope exists somewhere. Is Maggie going to...

For Maggie Harris, life was falling apart. Her fiancé called her on her wedding day to share the news that he was not going to marry her after all; he was too busy hooking up with someone else. To make matters worse, her fiancé was also her business partner and the breakup of their relationship necessitated the breakup of the business. Since she was a 60% owner in the company she announced that Brett could either buy her out or she was going to...

I was excited to dig into this book. It was listed as a suspense novel; but I have to admit that, at first, I was not seeing it. Although it was a fun story, with a bit of humor; and quick and easy to read, there didn't seem to be suspense anywhere in sight. It was a good halfway through the book when the mystery kicked in. From there, the pace definitely picked up! It was a good read with a ending that managed to surprise me; even though, I thoug...

I requested this book because it sounded like it would be an exciting book however, I was bored to tears pretty much throughout. I wasn't thrilled with the writing or the story. I thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I received the book on Thursday, read the whole book on Friday ~ did not put it down. I greatly enjoyed it. I deal with chronic, debilitating pain, which limits my ability to concentrate. I have so many books, partially read, that I stopped reading because I just couldn't get into them and couldn't be bothered to continue trying. I had no problems with this one. I want to move to the Island. None of the characters are perfect, but they are likabl...

A sentimental romance with that edge of attraction and danger. Likeable characters with a touch of whimsy. Easy to read at a smooth pace. Two sisters take a vacation trip to Solace Island in the pacific north west after a marriage cancelation. Sorry that is all I will say, I don't like spoilers. Thank you goodreads and Berkley Publishing/Penguin Random House for this free giveaway. It's a keeper.

FirstToRead and Penguin provided an eARC to review.Meg Tilly has mastered the art of writing a suspenseful romance. The two "lost" main characters had chemistry all through the pages that both wanted to deny and the readers get to enjoy along with them. Both Maggie and Luke have a tough blow when it comes to love and their trust in themselves have taken the hardest hit. The circle of characters around them strengthen the story and provide for a c...

Maggie Harris is going to Solace Island for a three week vacation with her sister Eve. Maggie needs this break big time. She has just been jilted the night before her wedding by her long time fiance. What a mess! He is also her business partner and doesn't want to buy out her interest in the business. He doesn't have the money to and can't get a loan. Too bad! If he doesn't buy her out Maggie will sell to Pondstone Inc., a business that has been ...

“You are,” he continued, his hand rising tenderly to cradle her head, “my heart, my breath, my reason for living.” — from Meg Tilly’s, Solace Island.👌🏻When I received this book I was expecting a suspense thriller based on the Goodreads blurp. As a huge romance fan, I was delighted to discover this is right in the romantic suspense genre. The story unfolds in the backdrop of a gorgeous Pacific Northwest island town. The descripti...

When I first saw this book and the name Meg Tilly, I dropped everything and looked the name up to see if it's THE Meg Tilly I was thinking of. Sure enough, it's her! I'm thinking this woman is of many talents. I decided to give her first novel a try. I even signed up for it from GoodReads thinking I won't win, I'll end up getting it at Barnes & Noble when it comes out in November. Totally forgot all about it until I opened my email announcing I w...

I'm not really sure how I feel about this book. The plot was interesting, but the "twist" at the end seemed really random and forced. The ending also seemed very rushed, and without giving away any spoilers, there were a few questions that just weren't wrapped up (like what happened with Nathan). I did like Maggie's grit and determination to not be a victim, and Luke was protective without being overbearing. However, there were times when Maggie ...

Thank you to Berkley Publishing and Penguin Random House for sending the Advance Readers' Copy of "Solace Island." Meg Tilly (yes, the actress!) does a great job of setting the scene and the characters in this book, which is to become a new series. I am excited to continue along the path of these characters."Solace Island" is a suspenseful novel with an interesting twist in the end (I won't give it away). In this book, we meet Maggie Harris, who ...

Solace Island is a good read but think more contemporary romance than romantic suspense. This book build the suspense SLOWLY, the first half is just a contemporary romance. That being said, I really enjoyed this book. Maggie Harris is dumped right before her wedding. When her sister suggests a trip to Solace Island, Maggie agrees to escape her life for a while. She still struggling to resolve issues with her ex since they were business partners a...

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Overall I loved the story and the characters. There was plenty of suspense and romance to keep me interested and not wanting to put the book down. The only issue was the bad guys had only a brief POV and the were not developed more until the end. Also, there were a few times throughout the book where it felt like there was an abrupt halt in the story and the next chapter picked up ...

I enjoyed this book! It is a quick read with some humor, twists, suspense and romance -- I was laughing out loud at parts. While the romance was a little bit more detailed than I usually read, the book was overall good. I would love to explore the area that the book is set in - it sounds lovely. It would also be great to get some of the recipes discussed in the book!*** I received this book by the Penguin First To Read Program in exchange for an ...

I was sent this book free of charge from the publisher in return for an honest review. This is a very quick read and I'd say it's about 70% romance and 30% thriller. I actually would have preferred more of the thriller plot, but there's many that will fall in love with the characters and their steamy getting to know each other episodes. Solace Island is painted in very descriptive, vivid terms and setting up your own business while being able to ...

I loved it from cover to cover and I have not laughed so much out load while reading a book in a long time! As I was reading and laughing, I was wondering when the suspense was going to show up and it did! I could just picture the island from the description in the book, the stores, people, beach and beauty of it all. And oh my goodness the sexual tension between Maggie and Luke was something else. I really enjoyed Eve and Maggie together! I can ...

Can we talk about highly anticipated read disappointments for a second? The cover and description captured me in an instant on this book. It was not anything I imagined it to be. The writing was elementary (it did get better as I got further into the book), the characters were unlikable, and it took forever to get to the main storyline. I did enjoy the second half of the book, but I really took this more as a contemporary romance novel than anyth...

I was surprised in this book, I expected an experience of the character(s) looking for a quiet place to recoup. I did find find that and much more, solace, romance, community togetherness, mystery and excitement. The language was a little off putting for me but otherwise a great book. This was a win from Penguin Random House. Thank you Meg Tilly and Penguin Random House.

Received a copy from Goodreads Give Aways.I loved the book. It was a quick easy and very enjoyable read, and I would have finished it in one day, but I wanted to prolong the story. Nothing fancy, just a simple, enjoyable romantic read with a little suspense. Loved the characters and the setting. I thought it was very well written and hope to see more by Meg Tilly.
