As many of you know I love series books, I am what you call a series addict. I sometimes rather have series than stand alone's for simple reason if I connect with the characters I really want to keep reading on. The downside with series is sometimes the books following isn't as good as the first one that draws you in. That being said this book did have that and more. One thing I love is Jennifer's world-building and her characters, her female cha...

Rating: 2 out of 5.I don't know what happened here. But I was confused throughout the book. I didn't know what was going on half the time...Even though I had read the first book AND really liked it...Some parts were a bit weird. Characters would say something or do something, and expect me to understand their ulterior motives...

This book had great pacing, flowed very-well, and was quite entertaining. The characters intrigued me. The main characters and the secondary characters were all well-differentiated with unique quirks, flaws and mannerisms. I was impressed by this attention to the characters differing personalities because there were so many of them. This is the 2nd book in this series and unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to read the first book, Eterna...

Toni Tutoro’s reason to take revenge on the vampires who allegedly killed her entire family was totally understandable, and although even some of the ancient vampires feel for her, that didn’t keep her from being banned from her home town, Chicago, when breaking the Veil by killing vampires in public. Now, three years later, Toni is back in town, her presence requested by the very people who banned her in the first place. Unfortunately, the V...

The most important rule among the vampires is not to break the Veil that keeps humans from knowing about their existence. Even though Toni Tutoro had every right to want revenge against one of the people who was responsible for her family's murder, she jeopardized the Veil by killing humans publicly and was banned from Chicago. Now three years later, she is back and is given one chance to redeem herself and be allowed to come home. Christian, the...

(minor spoilers ahead)Before I start venting, please bear in mind that I rarely find paranormal romance as satisfying as urban fantasy, so I am biased. Plenty of people will love this book. So read it and judge for yourself.First of all, I love this cover much more that the first. It has more connection to the plot than the first book. It is an interesting book, but the world-building and humor I admired in the first installment are virtually non...

Eternal Hearts is Jennifer Turner second novel in her Darkness Within series. I waited a very long time to read it, but it was so worth the wait. I just found out today that Turner plans to have more than TEN books to this series. I am actually pretty excited about this. She writes really well and has created a world that is very believable. In her first book, Eternal Seduction, the story took place in New York City and in Eternal Hearts, Turner s...

This is book 2, Book 1 is I had the pleasure of working with the author on this book as a Beta Reader. Besides it being an interesting experience, it was great to read such a good story in its early stages. I read the final product as well, and the story turned out to be better than I could have imagined. While not necessary, I still recommend reading the first book Eternal Seduction before reading this one. I cannot wait for book 3!

~* 3.5 Stars *~Beware the Boredom of Gods and MonstersThe only thing exiled fledgling Toni Tutoro wanted was to be allowed back into Chicago, the city where she'd been born and raised. Almost four years ago the brutal slaying of her human family set the new Warrior on a path of revenge and destruction that ended the life of six humans and almost broke the Veil, what vampires call the cloak of secrecy surrounding them that keeps their existence hi...

My review is based on Eternal Hearts, not having read book one in this series. It wasn’t until I was half way through I found out it had a previous book, but saying that I don’t feel I missed out on anything. But I will be reading book two.. Toni Tutoro broke the most important rule amongst her kind, ** The veil** - The secret to keep their existence from humans. Being a newly turned vampire with little control, Toni wanted payback to avenge ...

Eternal Hearts by Jennifer Turner is the second book in her Darkness Within series. Book One Eternal Seduction i fell in complete love with, such a different premise to the vampire world and characters that were not your typical hero/heroine. Very outside of the box and i loved it. So i was super excited for book two to finally be here. Eternal Hearts does not disappoint. Here we meet Toni and Drake, an assassin and a fledgling in need of protect...

Prior to reading EH I refreshed with a re-read of Eternal Seduction. This re-read only emphasized my love for the first book, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to review Eternal Hearts. I read Eternal Seduction, the first book in the Darkness Within series the first time in 2008, and I really liked it so I have literally been waiting years for this book. To be fair my tastes normally lean towards character driven books. EH is definitely plot d...

Jennifer Turner transforms the usual paranormal romance novel into an intense, emotional and passionate  love story.Toni is scarred, still battling the grief over losing her family in a brutal and violent attack.  Guilt ridden over not being there and distraught over never getting one last chance to tell her family how much she loved them, she vows to always wear her heart on her sleeve.  No one in her life will ever have to wonder about how s...

It hurts me to give this book a three, especially since I loved the first books so much and had much anticipation for this one. I just felt very disconnected from the story and the characters. This storyline seem like it was all over the place. Like the author was just winging it. I looked forward to the mysterious Drake's story but felt his story came a few books too early. I felt that the author could have built him up a little more before she ...

Eternal Hearts was a shaky 4*s, IMO. I'm rounding up to 4*s. Toni Tutoro, a fledgling vampire, was kicked out of Chicago after her family was murdered and she went on a rampage against the woman responsible. She's now back, hoping to gain permission from the Lord of Chicago to return home. Drake Black is a vampire assassin who is given the contract to secretly protect her. Instead, he breaks all the rules and falls in love with her. Toni falls in...

Eternal Hearts was a nice treat. This is the second book in a series I began back when I was buying books off the shelves at Borders. I loved the first one. I never forgot the series and vowed that I would read whatever came next. I never expected it to be years but what do I know of these things, I don't write books. I purchased Eternal Hearts when it came out but did not read it because I forgot all the rules of Ms. Turner's supernatural world....

"Fifteen it is."~DrakeYum. That's the first word that comes to mind in regards to Drake Black. Drake is the hottie hybrid indroduced briefly in book 1, Eternal Seduction. Drake is a notorious assassin who is now contracted to protect a spit fire Latina named Toni. Toni has been banned from her home city (Chicago)for the past three years due to a violent rampage that threatened the Veil in her hometown. What I loved most about this book was getting...

This is the sequel to the excellent Eternal Seduction. It's a solid read but nowhere near the originality or appeal of the first book. A few things marred my enjoyment of the book. Firstly the angsty, misunderstood baddass hero falls for the girl because she is so kind and nice to him. Apparently in all his hundreds or thousands of years of life no woman has been nice to him before. I've seen that plot device used before to show why a couple get ...

This was Drake's book - it truly was...there was only a brief mention/appearance by characters from the first book (Odin, Raze Stephen & Alfred),and they did not overshadow what was going on in this story. I really enjoyed this book, good continuing series plot, some suspense, good character development, and a secret reveled about Drake's lineage. I was pleased with the new characters (Toni Robert,,Ocktober, Dominic, the coffeehouse crowd, Christ...

Damn...damn...damn...I love Jennifer Turner. She has created one hell of a world and her ability to tell her story is just freaking unbelievable. It was one hell of a long wait but it was worth every written word. This was Drake and Toni's story and I was pulled in from page one and couldn't put the damn book down. To know that all the players are pawns on a chess board just blows my ever living mind. I don't know how Jennifer came up with the id...

I won this book on Goodreads, Firstreads. I was so excited to get this book, and I have to say it did not disappoint. Now I have not read the first book, but fully plan to now. I too love series, especially in this genre because of the wonderful character builds. You become so invested that you must see things through to a reasonable end. I love the Drake Black character! I have him pictured and man he is perfect. I have to say I really liked the...

Another great story by Jennifer Turner. I loved Eternal Hearts. It was a great buy. I liked Drake for the first book and was excited to read more about him. And Toni was a sweet and strong character. The epilogue gave great insight into the Elder’s games. I wasn’t expecting quite a few things that happened in the book that is what I love about Jennifer Turner, she never fails to surprise me and have me say “OMG.” Her characters are always...

The second book in A Darkness Within series.... I loved it, Drake is such a manly man (If that makes sense) but underneath it all he's got such a vulnerable side to him, just as much as our Heroine Toni does... both are strong on the outside but broken on the inside and it takes two lost souls to mend two broken hearts.I know I rated this a star less than the first book, and that only because the first book had everything you could want from a bo...

Well....The MC heroine is nothing like Logan from the first book. She is emotionally all over the place. Let's put it this way. If I decided to make up a drinking game where I took a shot every time Toni started crying over something, I would be completely shit-faced before I made it halfway through the book. Yes, she cries that much. She's over emotional and touchy feely and everyone just loves her so so much. Are you gagging yet?I liked Drake bet...

4.75 This was Drake's story and it was pretty darn good. Drake is hired to protect Toni. She has just come back to Chicago hoping to have the head of The Chicago Vamps accept her back after she tried to kill the women behind her family's deaths. Drake & Toni start to fall in love but neither thinks that they deserve the other one. Drake is afraid to let Toni know he's a hired gun then it turns out his best friend was the one hired to kill Toni's ...

Jennifer Turner’s Eternal Hearts is Book 2 in her Darkness Within series. In order to appreciate the series, I recommend you read Book 1 in the series, Eternal Seduction. If you’ve read Eternal Seduction, then you already know Drake Black (one of my favs.) I have to say there’s something about Drake. He’s a man’s man and a woman’s dream. Anyway, for this book, I was intrigued to learn more about the female who caught his eye. Drake is...

So far I have really enjoyed this series! Drake is not as scary or as raw as Barrons but there are similarities. He is the ultimate monster in this world and he can do more than either the Vamps or the Wolves. Unfortunately, nothing equals Barrons at all. Drake is a pretty cool hero though.Toni is tough as nails. I liked that about her. I also liked the other characters - Clint, Jacob, Dom, and even Christian. Of course, Robert was probably my fa...
