A short but sweet little book in the vein of Georgette Heyer (although no one can do it quite as well as she did!). This is a charming little story with several very likeable characters who unfortunately never get the chance to develop fully. The book seems to gallop to a conclusion and I felt it could have actually been better if it had been longer. However it was still an enjoyable and entertaining read.

A very cute novella about childhood friends becoming something more, set in Regency England. It's nothing we haven't seen before but I guess what made it fun to read was Phillip, the hero. It certainly can't be Francesca, who had me rolling my eyeballs with her vehement denials. I get that Regency ladies were expected to be modest and un-scandalous but really, does she need to keep up the act in her internal monologue? No harm in drooling inside, ...

I found A Delightful Arrangement when I was browsing through the free books in the Kobo store, and didn't realise that it was in fact a novella.I don't read a lot of romance novels; I'm fine with a story that contains a romance, but out-and-out romance isn't really my cup of tea. I was pleasantly surprised with A Delightful Arrangement. Having read a lot of Austen, I was perfectly comfortable with the Regency setting, although Gray's main male ch...

Francesca's mourning period for the loss of her mother is over and now that she is of marriageable age she is ready for her first season and the balls. She wants to dance and flirt and meet the man of her dreams. When she's told that she's betrothed to her neighbor and friend Phillip she can't believe it. Phillip is her friend, not someone to make her swoon and fall in love with which she desperately wishes for. A good love story but not really a...

I found this as a freebie, and very much enjoyed it. Francesca's is informed by her father that her marriage has been arranged to her lifelong friend Phillip but she agrees with him that she can have a season in London and if she finds somebody who makes her swoon he'll release her from their engagement.Phillip has always known that he would make the marriage to Francesca that their families expected but will she ever come to love him?Main critic...

An absolutely delightful historical romance novella, A Delightful Arrangement was a lovely read. I really liked this sweet romance. It was quick, light, and an truly enjoyable read. Both characters were great. Francesca wanted a taste of freedom after spending 3 Seasons in mourning, but also knew to hold on tight when she realized that the man she loved was, in fact, her fiance. Philip was wonderful. A sweet, honorable man, he was determined to pr...

I received this book as an ARC.Lady Francesca Warrington is coming out of a three year mourning of the her mother's death. She excepts to have at least one season that was not granted her during her three years of mourning. As she is coming out of her morning she finds out that is already engaged to the neighbor's son, her mother's best friend's son, and her best friend, Phillip. I found A Delightful Arrangement to be very charming! I love regency romance books and this one was full of romance and fun as well! The characters were interesting and the story pulled me in right away! Francesca and her determination to find a swoon-worthy man made for a great story! I loved Phillip and his obvious care for Francesca! Too bad Francesca can't see or admit to what is right in front of her! Although this is a novella, I never once...

This was a middle of the road novella. It was a cute story but I wasn't really affected by it. I would recommend this as a sweet read for a rainy day.Note: I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

It was a fun read, but very short. Not enough time to really develop the relationship between the central characters.

This was the first book I was accepted for on Netgalley and I was so excited to start this one!I really like the covers on this whole series they are so simple and colorful and really draw your eyes to them. When it comes to historical fiction books its usually hit or miss with me. I like to believe that I am a history buff and I expect my books that I read to be historically sound. With that being said this historical book has little to do with h...

Review forthcoming on http://a-reader-lives-a-thousand-live...I received a copy of A Delightful Arrangement from Netgalley in exchange for my review.Francessca Warrington has always dreamt of love, of a season and of swooning, but all that is dashed to pieces when it is revealed that she's already engaged to her neighbour, and her best friend; Philip. Reviewed by LaciBook provided by the author for reviewReview originally posted at Romancing the BookA Delightful Arrangement was very hard to put down. I was actually sad to see it end. It had laughter, romance, and lots of stubbornness – a great trio of characteristics. Both of the main characters are very relatable and play off each other very well. Francesca is stubborn and romantic. Phillip, being Francesca’s childhood playmate/best frien...

As seen on Ed and Em's Reviews!4.5/5 Stars!A Delightful Arrangement is a sweet historical romance that really captures your attention from the first page.I love Francesca and Phillip! They are such a sweet duo. I could read about them for days and never tire of them. Their relationship makes me swoon. Francesca, or Franny, as Phillip calls her is very insecure. It's obvious in her demeanor. She grew up with an extremely sick mother and a domineer...

In the spirit of Georgette Heyer, this delightful regency romp offers a humorous and heartwarming tale of Boy Next Door romance. It's a shorter piece, but the story and characters are given full attention. I had a good time with it as the heroine sets out intrepidly into high society London to find a man to make her swoon all the while that man may be closer than she thinks.Francesca, recently out of mourning for her dear mother, is brought up sh...

Reviewed for www.bookchickcity.comI’m not normally a novella fan, but I’ve been short of time recently so have found myself reading more than normal. A DELIGHTFUL ARRANGEMENT is a light-hearted and dare I say, it ‘delightful’ romance. The story sucks you in and whirls you away immediately. The main characters are fun, endearing and adorable. I actually wished the story had been longer because I thoroughly enjoyed it.Francesca’s determina...

A short story, regency romance with sensual sex.As is normal for short stories the plot is simple. The H/h have known each other since they were young. One day, the heroine is told that she is to marry her childhood friend, a man she thinks of as a brother. She always wanted a season, but the death of her mother three years earlier prevented her having one (Fact check: I thought the mouring period for a parent was one year. Mourning for a spouse i...

I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.this is the very first historical fiction book that I have read, and I have to say that it wasn't bad. This story is about 2 childhood friends. Phillip was to be married to Francesca a.k.a Franny. Franny Had no idea about this arrangement. She was finally done morning over her mother, and was ready to mingle and start her own family. The only problem was that her father had told h...

A Delightful Arrangement was a bold, playful romantic story about two friends who became lovers. The delightfully rich entertainment that was their relationship told a tale that totally captivated and thrilled me to no end. Phillip and Franny were the best of friends. They laughed together. They talked together. They challenged each other. More than that, they genuinely cared for and about one another. When Franny found herself suddenly engaged to...

This is a great short story that can be read in under 1 hour. Please be aware that this review may contain spoilers. This is a story about 2 childhood friends that have grown in to adults. The main characters in the story is Lady Francesca Warrington who is the daughter of a duke and Lord Phillip Freeman who is the son of the Earl of March. These two have been childhood friends and grew up together. While Phillips mother was a sweet wonderful per...

3.5I am not a huge regency romance fan and that should probably be taken into account, but I found this cute. Yes, Fran annoyed me by being so unaware of her own feelings and eventually in the requisite "I don't know what this feeling in my body is" sex scene. (I basically just dislike that sort of sex scene in general.) And yes, even though I liked Philip, the whole story hinged on his not telling her how he feels, which is a little too close to...

I LOVE Cecilia Gray. And I love the cover of this book. I was thrilled to get this book and couldn't wait to start reading.Since it's very very very short, reading didn't take long. And it wasn't as good as her other books, which I LOVED. Did I mention I LOVED them? This one is just too short....you just kinda get into the story and it's done. Of course a happy ending, and not really long enough to detour, so just pretty much straight line to the...

I really enjoyed this novella. The characters are lovely, Phillip and Francesca are both very likeable and make a good couple. They have been friends since childhood but Francesca doesn't realise that the two families are expecting them to marry. Phillip is happy about this as he has always seen it as his duty to look after Francesca, however she is not happy with settling for marrying someone who sees it as a duty and wants to find a man who wil...

Very clean and sweet romance, if only it was a proper novel. There was potential for a really good story and I feel somewhat short changed. The H and h are long term friends and neighbours, he is his father's heir, she is only child. Her father dislikes her, as he thinks she isn't his - she's got the inevitable red hair syndrome, only one in her family. Her mother died, and h misses her. Their fathers arrange MOC, and she so badly wanted to live ...

I have a soft spot for stories that have the H/H transit from childhood friends to lovers. It's just such a great foundation for, what? A marriage of convenience, of course! Which coincidentally, fits in my next favourite plot line.Philip, the ever charming rake and dear Franny (not a fan of that name) do make the perfect couple.Love the whole wager arrangement that Philip had going that came 'round to bite his arse.Sweet and most pitifully short...

Blink and you'll miss it, but having said that it was completely delightful.A short review for a very short story (which I believe I only found about 1 typographical error in).I snagged it for free. The price point at the time of writing this is 75p, and I am sitting on the fence as to whether that's a little too expensive for what in effect is a very short story.A 3.5 star read on the blog, but I will give it 4 on Amazon/Good Reads.
