Oh lordy. If you’ve ever liked a cowboy, wanted to like a cowboy, or even if you hate cowboys, you will love this book. I was drawn in one page one and already swooning on page two. No joke. I also completely blame Lynnette Austin for the 35 new "Hot Cowboy" Pinterest boards I started following after reading this book.I’ll be honest, I don’t always like romance novels. Why? Because so many of them are cheesy or unbelievable. Lynnette has th...

Slick‘s review posted on Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews3 StarsThe synopsis drew me in and although the book was okay, it wasn’t great. While reading, I felt like I was playing an endless game of red light/green light; you know three steps forward, two steps back. At one point I wasn’t sure I was going to get through it, but because I wanted to know what happened to a minor character in the book, I kept reading. I’m also beginning to think ...

3.5 Stars-Didn't ConnectLynnette Austin gives her readers a cute opposite attracts romance with Somebody Like You. I'm not a big fan of insta-love, however these guys were more insta-lust than love really.Cash and Annie are from different worlds, she's the city girl to his country boy. Needing a break from her world, Annie finds herself smack dab in his and feels like it's a perfect fit for the moment. She isn't only in the small town to get away...

I really love a good cowboy story and Somebody Like You is a great cowboy story. Some say that oil and water do not mix but in this case, it does. When Annelise goes looking for a long-long relative for a possible bone marrow match for her sick grandfather, she lands in Maverick Junction. Annelise gets an apartment and even goes to work as a ranch hand. Sounds great but for a society girl, this is totally out of the norm. Annelise is in hiding of...

Annelise Montjoy leads a life of privilege and one we can only dream of. As an heiress she knows firsthand that money can buy anything except life. She travels to Maverick Junction against the wishes of her family because she believes the answer to her family’s prayer can be located there. There’s one slight problem, she meets Cash Hardeman and he’s different from the men she’s use to. He’s hardworking and not to mention good looking. T...

HOT IN TEXAS!From the moment Cash Hardeman lays eyes on Annelise Montjoy as she rides her Harley into Maverick Junction, TX, the temperature spikes. I feel like I have been in Maverick Junction. The author has taken descriptive to a new level. You feel like you are with the characters while they are eating cookies, riding the range, at 4th of July parties and begging for a DNA sample for a Bone marrow transplant. The characters are an eastern heiress and a cowboy. This was a very enjoyable read.

Another great book by this author. I absolutely loved this. With a biker debutant and a high flying cowboy cross path, sparks start to fly. Add a snoring dog and small town living, you get mix that will make you smile a little and want to know what next is coming. Hope to enjoy many more of this authors books.

*ARC provided by Publisher*Whew. This cowboy romance was something else! Absolutely delightful story, with well-rounded characters who immediately drew me in, Somebody Like You kept me reading late into the night. Cash and Annie had fantastic chemistry, and I loved their stubbornness and pride. The push-pull tension these two carried made for some such a fun and entertaining read.Annelise Montjoy is headstrong, independent, and determined to help...

I have never read a Lynnette Austin, but like a true British girl, I'm in love with cowboys and Texas (ssshhh, don't tell my Pennsylvania Husband). So when I was offered the opportunity to read Somebody Like You, I jumped at the chance. The story is about heiress Annelise Montjoy (aka Annie), who has come to Maverick Junction, TX, to find her dying grandfathers long lost half-sister, but what she didn't expect to meet was this smoking hot cowboy. ...

3.5 starsThis is a sweet story of two people who on paper don't belong together finding exactly what they need when they weren't looking. I like both Annie and Cash and really liked them together. The fact that they both made jumping to conclusions an Olympic sport was my one big complaint and the thing that kept this from being a 4 star read for me. Overall, this is well written and a unique take on the city girl/cowboy theme. All of the charact...

Annelise knew there was something she could do to help her failing grandfather's health. She would just have to figure it out. What she didn't expect, but was coming to joy, was learning to be on her own. Cash hired Annie because he wanted to get to know her, and they needed the help. He had no idea she would work so hard. He had no idea who she really was. When the secrets of their pasts rise to the surface, will there be anything left to salvag...
  • The Book Junkie Reads . . .
I was fortunate enough to get this current series (three books) all together. I began with Somebody Like You. I was pulled in to the small town like on Annelise's journey to her grandfather. She wanted to spend time with him and get to know him and help. She ditched her world and became a part of a community life that was unlike anything she had experienced before. She just never dreamed she would find and fall in love with someone that loved her...

Cash sees her and helps her find the place she has rented and offers her a job as a ranch hand...

Somebody Like You (Maverick junction #1) by Lynette Austin • Awesome start for a series This story had me on from the get go.... Gotta love me a cowboy (well actually I only love mine BUT)... Who doesn't love to read about a sexy cowboy in jeans and his hat... Oh and don't forget his dog?!! What would you do for someone you love who needed something that they wanted to give up on? Find a way to help them anyway? That's exactly what happens on ...

Cash obviously doesn't like it when his dog doesn't listen, “Staubach, get over here.” Cash snapped his fingers and pointed at a spot beside him. The dog dropped heavily onto the floor at Annelise’s feet. Cash glared at him as Staubach’s tail wagged happily. “Traitor,” he muttered." Cash sometimes has to reason with his woman, “Annie, you’re starting to sound like a broken record. Trust me. I’ll get you there . Are you always th...

I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway, and it was the first book written by Lynnette Austin that I have read and it won't be the last one. In fact, I bought the next two books in this Maverick Junction series. These are good, clean romance stories. Each book is about three cowboys who are childhood friends in Maverick Junction, TX who were born there and decided to return there after college to settle down. They find love through diff...

I was asked by the author for an honest review. Somebody Like You is the first book in the Maverick Junction series, but it can be read as a stand alone story. Even though the events of the story were a little hard to believe at times, I still liked it. Annelise is able to discover herself over the course of the book. Despite stereotypes, neither Annelise nor Cash is perfect, which makes for an interesting story.I would look for additional novels...

It was a little slow in spots, but the plot was interesting and I enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters. It was definitely a good beach read (while in Cuba!)

Cash is dumbfounded when he realizes that he might lose the ranch he's put his life in to. His grandfather has passed away and his will states that Cash must be married by his 30th birthday or risk losing the ranch to his horrible step-grandmother. Annelise is going against family wishes and the body guards her father hires for her to come to Maverick Junction. She is in search of long lost relative who might be able to help her grandfather beat ...

From the get go I really liked Annelise. What's not to love about a woman riding a Harley and is quite the firecracker? She may be an heiress that has been kept under lock and key most of her life, but that didn't keep her from getting her hands dirty (and breaking every nail on those pretty hands, either)Cash was easy to like as he cared a lot for people, even if he was being stubborn for the longest time about marriage to save his beloved famil...

Set in Maverick Junction, Texas, "Somebody Like You" which I won through Goodreads Giveaways begins when leather-clad Annelise (Annie) Montjoy an heiress to a vast oil fortune rides into town on her Harley searching for her grandfather's estranged half sister who she hopes holds the key to saving his life. What she doesn't expect after a chance encounter at the local eatery is to snag a job working for Cash Hardeman as a ranch hand at Whispering ...
