Having broken a priceless vase, Haruhi Fujioka is in debt to the host club, and this romantic comedy series follows her as she tries to pay it back.In this volume, we meet a brand new semi-regular character - Mei! It seems a bit late to be introducing another main (ish) character, but I actually like Mei a lot. She is very different from Haruhi, and it's nice for Haruhi to have a female friend (that knows her secret, unlike Renge). We also get int...

A bit mixed. I didn't like the new character of Mei. That said, there was some good work with Tamaki and the Hitachin brothers. What little there is of an ongoing storyline is slowly (very, very slowly) moving forward in this volume.

3/5 stars.I felt like this volume was all over the place. I do want to finish this series one day so maybe I'll wait when I'm in the right mind set or whatever.

    The Mei plot...Meh

I think now everybody knows how much I love these characters.
  • Bec
3.5 I think. This one was hard to rate! I wanted to give it 4, because Tamaki in this volume gave me so many feels. But the other episodes didn't hit me on the same level, so 3.5 it is!

4 StarsI definitely ship Reiko and Hunny! Opposites attract romance for the win!

Re-read: July 2018This volume marks the introduction of one of my favorite minor characters: Reiko Kanzuki. I think you can spot her in the background of some earlier scenes, but up until volume 10 she was never named. (view spoiler)[I think that she's such a good fit for Hunny! He's all bright and sunny with a secret dark side, and she's dark on the outside but has a cute and mushy interior. And Hunny was so nice to her even though she was reall...

I've mentioned in a previous review that I really don't want Haruhi to get together with any of the members of the Host Club, but I know it's inevitably going to happen and let's be honest, even though there is a love triangle (would this be a shojo manga if there wasn't?) we ALL know that Haruhi and Tamaki will get together in the end. Despite, however, my want for her to not get together with any of them, I am totally Team Kaoru.Haruhi and Tama...

OMG YES!The romance is starting! I'm ready to have my heart broken!WOOHOO!*jumps and bumps chest with random person passing by*ARE YOU FEELING THE SPIRIT? ARE YOU?*runs like crazy around the house while making weird animal-like sounds*IT'S TIME!Okno, I'll control myself a little.Freaking loved this volume. Tamaki and the Hitachins looks so cute. *-*Plus, like you may have noticed up here, the romance is finally turning into a main point.I think i...

Ah, the last volume that I needed to reread before I could start reading the volumes that I have never read before! I couldn't remember anything from this one (maybe because it's not really in the anime?) and so it was almost like reading a new volume! I loved Mei's character and we finally see and hear some romance... It makes me so excited for the next volume! I also must say that I love Kyoya and Mori so much more than before. They get more pa...

Hatori continues to please with this addition to the series. The introduction of a new character, Mei, adds some flavor to the usual jokes. Another commoner gets to experience the Hosts bizarre habits. Moreover, romance is beginning to become a stronger focus, and while I worried it would be problematic, Hatori is handling it very well. I know I shouldn't hold my breath on my preferred couple getting together, but at least thus far it looks like ...

I still enjoy this series, but I liked it a lot better when only Tamaki had a crush on Haruhi and it focused on the actual host club. I didn't particularly care for Mei. Even though he was only briefly mentioned, I have to say that I love Haruhi's dad. He is pretty funny and has some good deadpan moments.
  • Erica
Ouran is getting more serious with their character relationships and I love it.

Re-read 2015. Still 5 stars. Still an all time favourite.

Aaaaand new non-anime material and the complicated romance begins! Intensity and drama, here we go!Probably my favorite volume so far. My heart breaks for all of them already.
  • Amanda [Novel Addiction]
3.5 Seriously, this series is ridiculous. And I love it.

Hunny has caught the eye of a macabre maiden. And introducing a new character: Mei Yasumura... Misuzu’s daughter. You remember him right? The totally refreshing tranny who gave Haruhi that summer job. His daughter is a little fireball. Then Tamaki organizes a sports festival, dividing the Host Club onto separate teams with Kyoya as one of the captains. To be continued in the next volume. This series has 18 volumes.

The Black Magic Club appears again--and this time, a different member is the focus. Reiko Kanazuki is obsessed with Hunny and tries to curse him. But she uses charms meant to attract boys. Which is really what she wants to do. She's a little confused. So she's a perfect project for the Host Club. I kind of want a Black Magic Club spinoff. Later, Kamaki decides to have a Sports Festival. His thinking backfires. Or doesn't. Or kind of does?

I enjoyed the Mei story line in this volume. Despite her appearance, she was a breath of reality for the fantastical host club. The twins' character development is intriguing and I'm excited to see what happens between them. I must admit, I'm a bit lost as to the motives behind the sports festival. I don't find it very compelling. Looking forward to how it goes in volume 11.I want more Kasanoda!

My reviews of each book in this series by this point is basically 'what did the author do with my favourite character this episode'?Mori spent one entire episode with a baby chick sat on his shoulder/head, with literally no explanation, and then in the next episode was seen with a book called 'How To Raise a Chicken'.... This may just be my favourite series ever made.

Mei on kyllä hauska hahmolisäys. Kivaa myös, että tarinaan alkaa tulla enemmän romantiikkaa. Tykkään! :)
