Reviews Spell of Desire, Vol. 2
- I think I am reading this more for the beautiful art then the story....
- Characters a growing nicely. :)RTC
- Cildin en heyecanlı yerinde bitirmek...Çok kötüsünüz ya!
- I am reviewing the English edition though this has the French edition. The Viz edition is not listed.I enjoyed this volume. What made me give it four stars was the last chapter? There was this figure in the heroine's room. Like it kinda looked like a ghost. I'm wondering if it's her mother? The storyline seems to focus more on the fact that the Witch Queen is missing and the heroine (Really I can't think of her name) is going to be trained. But I...
- the series would have been 5-star if the author hadn't rehash and repeat so much.
- 5 stars
- Love the drawings and the story is getting interesting, but I hate the way the protagonist is being treated
- Spell of Desire 1-5 (full series)Action 4/5Art 5/5Angst 5/5Characters 4/5Drama 5/5Erotica 5/5Humor 5/5Plot 5/5Romance 5/5Suspense 5/5Triggers: Sex, attempted sexual assault (due to her magic being out of control), jealous man (who means well but apologizes and it is genuine), nudity, eye candy / fan service (but relevant to the story).Review: Sweet, sexy, angsty romance with a supernatural urban fantasy and classic fantasy vibe. Excellent art, ch...
- Two and a half stars, probably. I skimmed quickly through this and the third volume, and though I like it well enough, I probably won't do the whole series.
- More reviews (and no fluff) on the blog http://surrealtalvi.wordpress.com/ I have to admit, Ohmi's newest series isn't keeping my attention. A distinct lack of character and plot advancement coupled with too many genre cliches had me yawning through most of this second book. Ohmi's illustration work has greatly improved on Midnight Secretary but I'm not quite sure this title compares to its predecessor.Story: Kaoruko attracts all who come near he...
- Kaname gave me the good chills. I just love the them as an impending couple. Kaname’s face is drawn all harsh planes and lines, and I literally shiver in excitement. This book explores about black/white magic, and the witches coven. I’m thrilled to see what Kaoruko’s training will be like and which magic side she will ultimately choose. It’s interesting seeing Ohmi’s notes on her character details (about clothes Kaoruko wears) and seein...
- ~3.5-4/5Midnight Secretary left me unsure of continuing Ohmi’s works, and the first volume of this series didn’t grab me immediately. But this volume was actually a step up, I’m happy to report.I think the attraction between the couple has a hard time grabbing me, but it’s starting to work here. Kaname is starting to accept his feelings for Kaoruko, just as she is for him. That’s one thing that bothered me in the previous series, and Iâ...
- My previous complaint about the first volume, where the thought- and word-bubbles were overwhelming the story and art, has fortunately eased up a bit in this volume! This is still a pretty text-heavy book, but not nearly as bad as the first volume. The second volume of the series heats up! Kaoruko is forced out of her pleasant, small-town herbal shop and has to confront the coven, showing more backbone than I'd expect out of this sort of character...
- I'm really starting to fall in love with this series! I like the characters and the apparent chemistry between the main characters, Kaoruko and Kaname. There seems to be a lot more going on between the lines; and their feelings for one another have nothing to do with the witch queens power inside Kaoruko. The scene where Kaname gets jealous and buys Kaoruko an "engagement ring" is pretty explanatory evidence of that. Kaname seems to care far more...
- okay but like why do men get supernatural abilities that put them in a position of power and women get 'supernatural abilities' which are literally just 'the power to make men rape you! inducing uncontrollable desire in others! lucky girl, you get magical powers which are the embodiment of the myths of rape culture!'like honestly, it was shitty when misfits did it and it's shitty here. what if kaoroku bounced and learned how to control her powers...
- eh wasn't crazy about this one. getting really tired of the female character needing to be saved from her own sexuality. and loving him? I'm not sure she knows what love is... oh!and her best guy friend tries to rape her and she's not even mad! I don't care what kinda magic it is, we're no longer friends.yeah, the author is lucky that there are cute animals that transform into b.a. stuff in these books. they are the only redemption at this point ...
- No! You do NOT end a book on a cliffhanger like that! No! Oh gods, the next volume can't possibly come out fast enough. Oh, I hope like crazy that Kaname can save Kaoruko. Now I'm gonna be all worried for the next few months, hoping he saves her. That, my friends, is a truly evil cliffhanger. The rest of the book rocked, though, so I won't hold it against the author. Much.
- Again, 3.5 stars rounded up because of the innocent Perils of Pauline feel to the first half of the story. The second half sees Koko starting to show some backbone, but still very innocent and self-sacrificing. What's interesting is to see Kaname's evolution.
- I'm just going to stop here. That ending tells me that no matter what happens in the next book, I'm going to get really, really angry.
- Intriguing! Kaoruko (Koko) isn't a fluffy pushover, but it looks like she just got herself in over her head. It'll be interesting to see what happens next volume, and I'm also hoping for more background or an appearance from her mother.
- Que emoción!! Voy por la siguiente
- Oooo
- Lovely! Koko and Kaname are being separated
- Really enjoyed this volume. It was a lot of set up for what will happen next. The next installment is bought to have crazy awesome things! I can't wait for February 3rd!
- I'm happy to see the character's developing the way they are, though some parts (especially the ending) are little...ugh :/
- La suite... toujours aussi envoutante, captivante... Je ne suis pas à la base très fan des histoires d'amour mais celle-ci a le don de me captiver quand même.
