WELL THERE WERE ABOUT 100 UNEXPECTED TWISTS IN THIS. LIKE. WOW. BUT I SUSPECTED SOMETHING LIKE THIS MIGHT COME. GAH. AND WHAT ABOUT SOO-WON. DID HE EXPECT THIS??? DOES HE JUST KNOW THINGS??? ALSO. IS THIS WHEN THEY MEET AGAIN. DFUHIJEDFHUJD. i really loved the strategy part it was amazing, them trying to figure out what was going on. but this is so very exciting I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. also. the extra part with kija. wow i cried. i knew it w...

While the fire tribe aims for Soowon's head, I was more preoccupied by Kija's history. He was too young to lose his father... and too young to be blamed for his continued weakening. Why the dragons' powers bring such misfortune, I am unsure... Did the author intend to give the characters a terrible curse in order to force them into heroes that grew up in bitter childhood until Yona bought them to the light? Or is there something other than that t...

Check out more manga and graphic novel reviews @ Perspective of a Writer...This is a review of volumes 11-12 which I read together back to back. See the plot section for my thoughts on the individual volumes.Princess Yona is the pampered daughter of her kingdom's king. Isolated and doted on she has two childhood friends, Hak, a general who also protects her and her cousin, Soo-won who helped her mourn her mother's passing and who she is crushing ...

Tae-Jun is really awesome in this vol. he always was the weak, useless clown, but now he's changing, becoming a great character who can confront an army in honor to protect his people.. also Zeno is too cute!! I wonder when his dragon powers will shown up..

Ooh, seems like war is coming.

Es wird wieder politischer. Me like it ❤

While I know its important to establish that Yona is the People's Princess, I felt like the last couple of volumes were extremely slow pacing-wise. This volume finally forces Yona and the Gang to do something big and I'm looking forward to seeing how this new development plays out. I still feel like there's something off with the pacing though. Maybe its because I have no idea where this story is going. Quite honestly, I'm not entirely sure the a...

This volume of Yona of the Dawn brings new players onto the field - the Fire Tribe is shadily consorting with the neighboring kingdom, and are attempting to blindside a new emperor. Soo Won, for his part, is more cunning that he appears to his subjects and nobles, so he is already asking his general to be wary and prepared. Meanwhile, Yona and the squad, who were in said neighboring empire, now decide to go back to help out her kingdom. Reading t...

Yona's group is in the Kai Empire. While there they see Fire Tribe soldiers and decide that it is time to go back to Saika. Once they make it back into Fire Tribe territory they hear of the Sen Province invading and set out to meet them.Overall a great lead up to the next volume when war is on the brink. How will the groups handle meeting up with each other and fare in the battle that is to come? I received this advanced copy from VIZ Media throu...

Still hiding out in the southern parts of the Kai Empire, our group begin to notice strange coincidences that lead them back to the Kohka straight to the city of Saika, the capital of the fire tribe. Trouble is brewing and Yona is determined to make sure Kohka remains unharmed, even if it means keeping Soo-won on the throne a while longer. The volume concludes with the hilarious bonus chapter that leads into Gija's past. It's the inspiration for t...

political machinations are HAPPENING FAMi'm kinda dying for yona and hak to encounter su-won again, i feel like it's gonna end up being a basara level 'eyes-encounter-across-a-battlefield-fraught-with-history' type momentanyways, proud of both tae-jun and yona, who are working very hard to be better than their fathers ever were(sorry king il, but it's kinda undeniable at this point that you failed your country pretty badly even if you were a doti...

The plot is really picking up, and tensions are rising with an upcoming war. Even through the chaos, Kusanagi never fails to include some great character moments(view spoiler)[Gija and the spiders for example:)The side story at the end really made me love Gija that much more. Ugh, this is why I don't have a favorite dragon warrior. Right when I decide on one, Kusanagi crafts amazing scenes and lines of dialogue for another that make me even more ...

Volume Review: 5/5I read this a few weeks ago and can't quite remember what happened already (ehehe … I read too much manga apparently) but I know it was good and I have the next one sitting on my shelf right now. I love this series!! The story is getting so interesting! I get impatient though and just want it to be near the end. There is still a long ways to go, though. Just as an aside, my favourite dragon is Gija.I own this volume.Series Rev...

Yona dancing made my heart sing! I need all of this series so much! This series is amazing! I really love our cast of characters, and each one added adds so much to the story. I will never get enough of this story. Watching Yona come into her own is beautiful. Please check out this series if you haven't.

I gave this volume 4 stars just because the beginning was sort of boring to me, but the volume got better right before the middle began & stayed good towards the end. Really loved the backstory info we got about Gija towards the end, I love the way the author writes backstory info, it’s always so entertaining & beautifully written.

Remember when Yona was a terrified princess who wouldn’t touch a weapon and couldn’t really fend for herself. I do, but it’s hard to remember when she’s this much of a BAWSE in this volume. Girl is powerful, and she KNOWS IT. We stan a legend who has undergone some truly excellent character development.

The plot really picked up in this installment. I'm still confused sometimes with which general is which, and some of Yona's crew seem sort of extraneous to the story (Zeno, Yun, Gija) but I'm sure they'll get a chance to shine at some point.

Read on Kindle from OverdriveThis volume was mostly setting up the next arc, so not too much actually happened. I still love Yona and I want to see more bonus stories with Jaeha being a big brother to the other dragons, because that was A+.
  • Lavonia Reid
We are definitely going more into the inner workings of government in the current arc. That in itself is not a bad thing, as it shows how much Yona has grown. Yona is definitely looking at the bigger picture and thinking about the people.

An excellent volume. Good plot movement, with some great character beats. The art is always beautiful. This volume mixed drama and humor and touching emotion into an entertaining package. I'm looking forward to reading the next book!

Another good volume. Story's getting interesting.

A battle is about to take place. Yona must decide whether she wants to let Soo-won die by doing nothing or help her country from invasion like a rightful ruler of Kouka.
