I was given an advance review copy of this book by NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. For transparency, I should probably start by acknowledging that this is my favorite series, out of all of the series in the world. I generally enjoy Seanan McGuire's storytelling, her sense of humor, and her knack for very good foreshadowing, and I specifically love this world and these characters. The Luidaeg is my favorite character. So the fact that ...

First, thank you so much to and DAW Books for allowing me access to this ARC. Second, this review is for Book #13 of a series that isn't close to being done yet. Please keep that in mind if you haven't read Books 1-12. But you should TOTALLY read books 1-12. Now. The Unkindest Tale is when the Luidaeg FINALLY has her reckoning with the Selkies. The latest edition to the October Daye series, I received a copy from NetGalley. I absolutely loved this book. The book is still a ways away from being released so I'm not giving out any spoilers. In typical McGuire fashion she puts her characters through the wringer emotionally and physically. You see the new aspects of your favorite characters and watch them develop in new ways. I do know that you will NOT be disappointed by this story. All of...

I received this book as a ARC because I won a giveaway! I was so pleased because I was very impatient for this book to come out. I love the Luidaeg is one of my favorite characters of this series so when it finally came time for her to deal with selkies, I was delighted. This book was wonderful. I think Seanan McGuire gets better and better with her prose. It’s gotten to the point where every time I read one of her books, other books seem bland...

Most authors start running out of steam after a few books in a series and the cracks begin to show, right? Right. Well not Seanan McGuire! I shit you not, her October Daye series gets better and more enjoyable with each book. I didn't know I needed a book set in her sea realm, but I really, really did. My only disappointment now is that I can't read this one again for the first time.

It was a great return to the world of October Daye and the I love how complex the characters have become. We get a chance to see multiple characters being vulnerable in ways we haven’t in previous books.

It was everything you love about Toby and her bonds with those she considers hers. It keeps you wanting more and more and can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen next.

Another awesome October Daye installment! It always goes too fast, but this was great start to my Hawaiian vacation.
