There are actually two short novellas inside this ebook. Both are in the Kit’s Colbana world, but only one features Kit as the narrator and that one was previously released.“Misery’s Way” takes place after the events of Edged Blade and is actually told from the POV of a pain eater and healer named Frankie. She isn’t human and she thrives on the misery of others. But she also feels the need to fix that pain. So she travels around as a fa...

Misery's Way is set in the Kit Colbana world and in my opinion it's best read after Edged Blade because even though this is mainly introducing a new character we do get to see Kit and Justin through her eyes and you could end up getting lost if you're new to the series.Frankie is a fascinating new character who I hope we will see again in future books of the series. She is very obviously not human but she never quite admits to what she actually i...

In Misery's Way, J.C. Daniels introduces readers to two new characters, Frankie and her sidekick/partner/lover, Saleel. Frankie is an interesting character, she has a certain "gift" that she uses under the guise of Faith Healer. Traveling around the country, performing her healing shows in tents, she is currently putting on a show in Florida. For some reason or another, this attracts the attention of Kit and Justin. While this novella leaves me w...

4.5LOVED!!! Daniels adds a new dimension to her Kit Colbana series with the introduction of a new and VERY interesting couple whose addition to this world could spell relief or disaster for all those involved. I can't wait to see where Daniels goes from here.

For those who haven't read the series, I HIGHLY recommend going back and falling into this world. It's dark. It's dangerous. And it's completely addictive. While this *could* be read as a stand-alone, you'll get so much more out of the gift Frankie give Kit if you know the horror that Kit experienced in the past.Plus, those earlier books are just gut-wrenchingly good and I TOTALLY recommend them. So, go. Read them and come back to see why this sh...

OMGosh, does this mean what I think it means!!! Yeah...I cannot reveal it, but if you are fan of the series, you must read this little story as I believe it will have a HUGE impact on the next story. Don't let that *&%wipe of a vampire beat you Kit!

Frankie is a non-human of unknown origin. She keeps her true nature and identity hidden for fear of being captured, or worse. She’s torn by her dark side, which craves and needs misery and suffering. However, she also has a side that longs to heal and fix pain. She balances both parts by posing as a faith healer; however now that someone has discovered Frankie, it’s time to move on.Misery’s Way is a short story told from the first person PO...

Fun read to promote Kit cabana's series and the new series? or start/teaser to start new series. I don't know what I have to say just about the story "Misery's Way" Will there be more of is this it ? Of course it 4 stars because I love J.C. Daniels writing and can't wait to read more and just disappointed that my "kit" fix is already over :)Paranormal Cravings Book Reviews & FREE Book reviews E-Magazine www.paranormalcravings.com

Her name is Frankie, and everyone believes she is a faith healer. She's not human, although she really can cure people of whatever ails them. Her partner and lover is Saleel, and the two travel from place to place so that Frankie's true nature won't be discovered. When she meets Kit Colbana, she senses issues and wants to help. This was a nice taste of the Kit Colbana world. I wasn't sure if it would be enough of a connection to the other books to...

This was an odd one at the start. I couldn't figure out how it connected to Kit until she showed up. I did find myself liking Frankie, liked how she helped people. The little battle between her and Kit intrigued me. It will be interesting to see when Kit finds/figures out what Frankie did to her. I have a feeling she will both like and hate it.
  • SheLove2Read
Very enticing new direction for Kit! I almost skipped this novella and I'm glad I didn't. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

3.5 starsReview originally posted at RabidReads.com.Misery’s Way is a short story with only 55 pages, but it was an interesting story. It is told from the POV of Frankie. This is different from the other Kit Colbana books, where Kit is narrating the story. Kit and Justin do make an appearance in this story.Frankie is working as a traveling faith healer. She actually feeds on the misery of other people. She takes their pain and is able heal them...

ARC REVIEW In a couple of days J.C. Daniels newest short story is released. It is an intro to a new series which is a spin off to the addictive series Kit Colbana. I warn you it is short and it is either going to piss you off or have you chomping at the bit for the first full length one to come out. It is written in typical J.C. Daniels style. It introduces Frankie who isn't quite human, not even a little bit and Saleel who isn't human either, we...

JC Daniels is a cruel and heartless tease (and I adore her for it)I love this addition to Kit's world, and can't wait to see where she's going with it 5/5 even though I despair every time I look at the publication schedule :P

Intriguing and interesting This story leaves more questions than it answers. It's interesting and intriguing. The storyline was fantastic and the characters were entertaining. Hope to read more about Frankie and what she is.

I really liked this story, but it felt incomplete, which may or may not have been intentional. I believe it's a short to give back story for a future book. Mysterious new creatures that are not completely explained, we're given just enough to tantalize.

ooh!A touch of Kit and Justin. She isn't human but she just might have something that will help Kit

I enjoyed the story. I have no idea why Frankie is carrying a gun on the cover. I often wonder if it ought to be a rule that SOMEONE who has actually read the book gets to choose the cover...

    Unnecessary novellas, but fine enough

I enjoyed this short. It's not from Kit's POV but it sends her on her way to healing some of her pain.

Why I Read This Book: Honestly, I thought it was a full novel from the Kit Colbana Files series by JC Daniels. Obviously I need to read the fine print, because this is a short story. However, I really like the Colbana Files series and the way J.C. Daniels writes so everything worked out. What I Liked: Misery's Way is classic J.C. Daniels - gritty, Urban Fantasy, well written characters and a story that was at times dark, seedy, uplifting, and hope...

Ever watch the movie "Leap of Faith"? A fan of Supernatural? Misery's Way is a mix between the movie and one of the Supernatural episodes dealing with faith healing. Frankie is a new character in an offshoot of the Kit Colbana files. For those who have read that series, this story will contain nuances and references to enhance the enjoyment of the book. For those who have not read the series, this can be read as a standalone and may entice you t...

Misery's Way is a lovely introduction to a great in character set in Kit Colbana's world. Frankie is a natural healer that feeds on the misery and healing of others. I have to say there are times in my life when I'd love to meet Frankie. I think it would be interesting to get to know her and watch her help people. For those of us that have read some of the Colbana Files books it was really nice to get a quick visit with Kit and Justin. If you have...

Not bad. Not what I was expecting, but not bad. This story is a Kit Colbana story, in that she was in it. It was written from some mysterious entity called Frankie's perspective. It was very hard to follow, clearly a scene set-up for another book, and only about 1/4th of the e-book file. The rest is rehash and the "bonus" story is the shortie where Kit meets Justin, which was set out for sale on it's own last year. It kind of annoys me when my fre...

Definitely not a story I was expecting, and there didn't seem to be a real plot until the end. That said, I found Frankie to be a very, very interesting character with a rich history that I want to know more about. I really liked Sal and want to know more about her relationship with him as well. The actual story element came in about halfway through the book, and it leaves me feeling like we'll see more of Frankie in the future. I hope so, becaus...
