This is not my usual type of book but the author gets such good ratings I felt I must give it a try. I am glad I did. There were moments of over sweetness but mostly it was a good, heart warming story of people surviving and dealing with some serious issues in their lives. The tissues even had to come out once or twice. Short but sweet and a very pleasant way to pass a few hours.

Memory House B&B was a happy home; Ophelia Browne was ninety years of age and had known a lifetime of happiness and memories in her home. It was where she and Edward had made their married life; wonderful, happy memories and Ophelia felt when she was lying in bed in the loft looking at Edward’s beloved stars that he was close to her still. When Annie had come into Ophelia’s life only one year ago, everything had fallen into place. It was as t...

For anyone that knows me and my love of books and authors, they will be well aware that Bette Lee Crosby is one of my favorite authors who I can't wait to start writing her next book. Her books are so life like and so real. Her characters are so well rounded you never forget them. This is book 2 in the series. I can honestly tell you that I didn't have to go over book 1 to remind myself of what I had read months ago as her books are so memorable. ...

Another one waiting for rating and review after family leaves.Having bought and read the Memory House some time back, I was beyond excited to get the next three in the Memory House series given to me by my darling husband for Christmas. Plunged straight in and started this one on Christmas Day. I loved catching up with Annie and Ophelia from the Memory House. Changes are ahead. Her life looks to be going beautifully when Annie and Oliver are marr...

Read it with book one so I rank them the same. This author has a strong following and better reads. I really tired of dandelion tea and lamb stew. I finished reading out of respect. There will be space before I read another.

I love all of Bette's book - they are a great combination of sweet & happy and a little sorry/conflict. there are so many things to like about this book - watching Annie & Oliver start their new life together, Ophelia realizing that at 90 things don't have to stay the same and the introduction of Max(ine) - an architect that is going to help redesign Memory House but becomes fast friends with Annie. Annie needs a good gal pal to be able to share ...

I adored the fist book, Memory House, and had high hopes for this second book. And my hopes were met. I enjoyed being back with these characters and learning more about the memories in the loft. This picks up right where the first book left off. But big changes are happening. Ophelia is moving on, making new friends and finally letting the memories go. Annie is the new keeper of those memories, but before she gets a chance to settle in, Oliver is ...

Another magical story by Bette Lee Crosby who is indeed a masterful storyteller. Ophelia and Annie are back in this book entering new phases in their lives, Annie just having married Oliver and Ophelia realizing she will be alone once again in Memory House. Not wanting to give anything away about the story, there are some things that occur for both Ophelia and Annie that affects their futures and causes them to make some important decisions. Ther...

REVIEW: THE LOFT by Betty Lee CrosbyThe main two descriptions for THE LOFT are:HEARTWARMING and MEMORABLE.This is high praise indeed, from a reviewer who eschews romance and never approves happy endings. From the first lines my spirit was taken up with the characters, the story line, and the gently metaphysical overtones and undertones. I guess an "old dog" can learn new tricks, or new enjoyment.THE LOFT is part of author Betty Lee Crosby' s MEMO...

I thought Memory House was a really great book but The Loft is even better. (The second book in the Memory House series). The book is very well written and will make you laugh and cry. The characters all work so well together and seem to come alive and you are right there with them. A heartwarming and memorable story about life. Looking forward to part three of the series. Beautiful cover to the book too!

A special thank you to Bent Pine Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Master Southern storyteller, Bette Lee Crosby returns with her second installment of the captivating Memory House Collection, THE LOFT where readers revisit with familiar characters, and the Keeper of the Scale, to learn what is in store for the journey; as it tips from sorrow to happiness, and somewhere in between. They say that somewhere far beyond what m...

The magic of memories, the healing power of love and a home where hearts beat on, welcome to The Loftby Bette Crosby is a heart-warming tale of lives shared, times remembered and the joy of true love at its finest. Leaving Memory house to the newly wed Annie, she believes she has entrust...

Crosby is such a masterful storyteller and The Loft was delightful. We have several threads that interweave creating a story that will keep the reader reading “just one more chapter.”Oliver and Annie are just embarking on their new life together, and Ophelia will once again be alone in the Memory House. When an unexpected accident occurs, Oliver and Annie find themselves staying at Memory House and poor Ophelia ends up in the hospital. The fir...

I am a fairly new reader of this author, and I loved Memory House. This book put me right back there. Bette Lee's writing is homey and comfortable, her characters are so likeable I loved the magical realism, the whimsical notion of a potpourri taking on the fragrance of whatever you were thinking of. The teas and potions, the belief in a magical life. Especially compelling for me was the "Keeper of the Scale" who maintains the balance between sor...

I finished reading Bette Lee Crosby’s new book The Loft on the platform Social Book. Annie’s favorite part of the house of course is the loft bedroom from which they can lie in bed and see the stars. Although the book is part of a series it can be read as a stand- alone as well. It is so wonderful to read about the doctor that takes care of Annie’s husband Oliver. Dr Sharma is truly a doctor that cares in these days when you hear of many wh...

This book is the second in the Memory House series and was amazing. Bette has a way of getting her characters to come to life in her books. The story once again follows Annie Ophelia and Oliver centering around the Memory House. From the opening quote to the last page, I was hooked. Annie continues to grow with Ophelia's help. Lots of drama and even some nail biting. I loved the new characters and their fabulous fit into the story. I loved it and...

Ophelia. A special lady who makes you feel special. Annie's relationship with her is amazing. Her life with Oliver is amazing. But all that changes when Oliver is in a car accident and Annie has to put her heart and soul into bringing him out of his coma. With a little help from her friends this heartwarming story will stay with you forever because love always finds a way.

This is the second book in the Memory House series and it is wonderful! I love revisiting with the old characters and meeting the new ones. If you like a nice heartwarming book with a little bit of suspense, then read this book. Just be sure to read book #1, Memory House, first!

The Loft by Bette Lee Crosby is Book II in The Memory House Series. I have read all of Bette’s books and her writing blows me away. Her novels read as if all is possible, if we just open our hearts. The characters are real and will tug at your heartstrings, demanding to be heard.Ethan Allen has come a long way since I first met him as a child. Now, he has a family of his own and it is growing. Annie and Oliver, Ethan’s son, are getting marrie...

Annie Cross’s life changed completely a year ago. The change began the day she found Memory House Bed and Breakfast and met Ophelia Browne. Annie thought Ophelia was just a sweet old lady who had a way with herbs and wonderfully scented and seemingly magical potpourri. But Ophelia taught Annie things she never would have believed. And now she was marrying Oliver, in the same church where Ophelia married her late husband, Edward, as a direct res...

I love everything Bette writes and The Loft is another one of her stories that I just fell in love with. She writes such beautiful prose with amazing and very likable characters. I want to enter the worlds she creates and never leave. The following is the first line from the book and I just absolutely love the thought of this idea.'They say that somewhere far beyond what mortals see there is a scale of life, and for each moment of happiness a ston...

I was given this book in return for an honest review and book two of the series was even better than the first! Fifty years of memories are hidden in the loft of a bedroom that her dear husband built with his own loving unskilled hands, and she wouldn't change a thing as she loved the loft and her husband's gift to her. She still slept there as she felt that she was closer to him when she did. Qphelia Browne, the owner of Memory House, a bed and ...

This is book 2 in Bette Lee Crosby's Memory House Collection and if you like great books with believable characters, this is the book for you! The book begins with the wedding of Annie and Oliver but it is as much about the growth and changes in Ophelia's life as it is Annie and Oliver's. Max, a new character who is an architect, is introduced and it looks like she will be the main focus of book 3, which I am anxious to read. The characters are w...

One thing about books by Bette Lee Crosby, they grab you into the story from the very beginning and don't let go until the last page! The Loft is second in the Memory House series and I may say this with each of her books that this is my favorite yet. But everytime you think they can't get better, they do!I love the characters in this book. They made me laugh and they made me cry. The author is a natural at getting the story told in a way that yo...

I like this much better than the first book. There is still that element of magic that I think got a little overboard in the first installment, but here, there were just enough sprinkles, it was very believable. Both Ophelia and Annie enter new phases in their lives. Both are happier, yet the "scale of life" needs to be balanced, and so trials come. With love and faith though, anything is possible, and no hurdle is too high to reach and overcome....

This book is populated with some of my very favorites among Bette Lee Crosby's characters, who seem so real you feel like you could just knock on their door and sit down to a cup of tea with them. Ophelia is a captivating and spunky 90-year-old, bent on sharing her wisdom with her protege Annie as Annie begins her married life. Two accidents change everything for Ophelia, Annie and Annie's husband Oliver--but the more things change, the more they ...
