4.5/5 starsAnother great installment. The art is fantastic - volume 2 had some especially nice full page spreads that were breathtaking (while also being decently creepy and haunting). My WEBSITEMy INSTAGRAMMy WORDPRESS BLOG

Check out more reviews @ Perspective of a Writer...A Peter Pan retelling like you've NEVER seen before!! Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of t...

4.5/5Oooh I love this kind of story! To sum it up , it’s like a smart kids version of “Prison Break” Yeah! (not that advance tho, but feel like it.) These kids have been raised so well, grooming them to be the best of the best. Only to be sold and eaten by demons.Sure they thought they’re in an orphanage but no way, they’re actually in a farm! But when some kid found out about that, well, they sure need to escape and so the story goes.. ...

-Read for 2019 YA Reading Challenge-This volume wasn't as much fun or quite as startling as the first one. It certainly tried to be exciting and throw us a couple twists, but the didn't land as well. I think the bigger problem I had was this was kind of a slow crawl towards whatever is supposed to be happening. The circle of protagonists gets a little bigger in this volume and there are more complications, but it still felt too long. The art in t...

2.5After the brutal revelations and panicked reaction of volume 1, the kids' escape planning slows to crawl. The story is focusing more on the cat and mouse strategy between mom and her prisoners but it doesn't work so well when the main trio are such broadly written characters. The naive optimist, the brutal pessimist, and the hopeful realist worked when the story was shaping up to be a sci-fi thriller but now that it;s slowed into something mor...

THAT FUCKING PLOT TWIST THOUGH. 10/10👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼I swear, Norman and Ray must be two of the smartest, most cunning and mature 11 y. o. fictional characters I’ve ever seen. I LOVE all the scheming, spying, snooping around, outsmarting and outplaying going on in this volume. Absolutely amazing.

A traitor is revealed. New alliances are formed. And more secrets around Grace Field House are explored. Our heroes continue to assess, analyze, and plan their escape. This is a 3.5/5 volume for me overall, as I feel like parts of the text get lost in translation. 95% of it is fine, but there are a few lines which left me confused. Also, the final page just kind of...ends. Finally, while the reveal of the traitor was a major plot point, I was hopi...

I am hooked!I am IN LOVE with this graphic novel!I'm a sucker for details, and this one fed my hunger for them, be it in the actual story or the art.It was beautifully done and I enjoyed every moment of it.AND THAT PLOT TWIT THOUGH!!!!!Holy fucking shit!!!I just NEED to read the next one.

Still good, but nothing really happened in this one. I get it, they need a plan, they need to find out things, plus now there is also a spy/mole (I didn't expect that person). But there is just soooooo little happening. So much talking, and so little doing. And I am just bored. I was hoping that at least in this volume they would try to escape, but no. Or something else exciting would happen. :( The art is still not my favourite.

Oooh (view spoiler)[Ray being the spy (hide spoiler)] was a twist I didn't see coming. I love it when I'm surprised. I'm really curious about the "outside world" now and how exactly these 12-year-olds expect to survive on their own.

With Emma, Norman, and Ray aware of the truth of the Orphanage they must continue to act as if nothing is out of the ordinary while they prepare for an escape before they are shipped out to some sort of abysmal creature who is looking forward to their fine brains. The trio find new allies to help with the escape as well as a spy for Mother is exposed as time continues to slip closer to the end. Of course with the increase of people in the know of...

And the plot deepens. Norman, Ray and Emma are still working on their plan to escape Mom and the orphanage but there are many wrinkles. Mom has called in reenforcements in the form of Sister Krone (who I have mixed feelings about, as a Black woman she adds diversity but she's also batcrap crazy). The kids don't know what's outside of the orphanage (other than the demons they saw) so even if they escape where can they go. And Ray (as well as I) ha...

I would almost give this a five. I love the constant machinations and twists and turns in the plot and he art continues to impress me. The strange camera angles and fish eye lens like effects add to the sense of wrongness as well. The main characters also still are lovable even as I sometimes disagree with them vehemently, even as heir values clash or they make stupid decisions. And the villains remain terrifying. Really strong. Okay, I’ll give...

This is amazing!!!The art is mind-blowing, I love the facial expressions and how the artist creates tension via visuals. The plot keeps up being full of twists and turns.Emma and Norman and Ray are the best kids.

This seems a little racist tho 😬 why is the black nanny gigantic and also super ugly? With a huge nose? Maybe I'm just super suspicious.

This was a definite improvement from the first one a little less repetitive and better paced than the first. I hope it keeps up the momentum.

The Promised Neverland volume 2: Control brings back to Grace Field House. It’s a new day with new possibilities, but with Mom and Sister Krone kneeing such close watch, how can our three mains ever hope to successfully escape? Let’s break it down. Sister Krone is driven by desire and a want to stay important to their employers. But man, she is hella creepy. Hers fake smiles are disturbing and how are none of these children traumatized by her...

The Promised Neverland continues to be superior to Death Note, as far as Weekly Shonen Jump thrillers go.A great portion of this volume revolves around the possibility of a traitor among the children of Grace Field House, who could be Mom's source of information, getting in the way of the kids' planned escape. Norman proposes the idea that Don and Gilda, the two children closest the ages of the main trio, could be suspects. There is an external p...

Solid 4.5 stars In the time between my read of volume 1 and 2 I’ve rewatched the anime because I have no self control. I’m not sorry, it’s a damn good show. Anyway, the manga is equally as good. So the main plot of this volume is trying to deal with Sister Krone as well as finding out who the traitor is. After Norman (my son) sets a trap for Don and Gilda (who’ve been told the truth) Norman’s suspicion is proven true when Ray is caught ...

This book had some many twists and turns. To who the traitor is, or who they'll escape in the future with the new info they've been given. This series is so good good. The kids are playing tag but sister Krone budges in and says she wants to play. The kids let her, and Krone is it. She catches everyone except for Norman and Ray. And she learns that these kids really are special. Emma, Ray, and Norman then realize that there must be a traitor in t...

I've been reading TPN since it was barely leaving the initial GF arc. It's not just good, it's about the best shonen manga I've read, ever. Excellent characters & development, interesting & tight, well-executed plots, near no boring filler whatsoever, just enough horrible situations to raise stakes without turning it into some grimdark tragedy where you think the best outcome would be for someone to just end the entire cast. I don't think a singl...

One other thing that I love about this series is that it seems to transition different genres so elegantly that it never disrupts the narrative. At times it feels like the book is a horror or post apocalyptic series, then it becomes a adventure or a tale of friendship. Despite how one person might interpret the story, I think most people are attracted to the series because it feels new and fresh. If that is the general consensus then I would have...
