Thank you to Edelweiss and the publisher for the chance to review this title ahead of its release date.Contrary to what many of you are posting, this book has only one POV with Larkin. It is written in the third person. Overview: EIGHT WILL FALL follows Larkin who, as an Empath, is suppressed by the queen of her kingdom, along with others like her. She and her brother are forced to work the mines to survive. Larkin has a bit of a temper (for good...

While I never fully connected with the characters as much as I would have liked to, I would love to see more fantasy horror in this vein. There's not enough of it. EIGHT WILL FALL feels appropriately claustrophobic with a creeping sense of dread that permeates throughout the entire novel, but falls short when it comes to characterization. I loved the idea and the overall atmosphere more than the execution and I can see it resonating well with tee...

Eight Will Fall has been described as a combination of Six of Crows and Suicide Squad. Thank goodness I didn't know this until after I finished the book as I'm definitely not a fan of Six of Crows. Personally, I wholeheartedly disagree with this description. Eight Will Fall is a story about exploration, survival, good, and evil, not a heist, and the "criminals" are only considered criminals because they possess magic.Overview:The book is told fro...

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I keep my reviews spoiler-free and they are unaffected by the free copy. For some reason, I had it in my head that this was a superhero type book. That was a very wrong assumption. This is more in the realm of magic. Which is still pretty interesting and I liked the different manifestations of it, but because I had that other assumption I was...

3.5/5 stars***This book was originally sold as a duology, but it is being published as a standalone novel.***First off, I'd just love to mention that this is a heavily described dark-fantasy novel. I adore dark fantasy, and I'm always on the hunt for more, especially in YA. I tend to be extremely picky in what I read in that genre, and I heavily rely on a strong main character. With that said, this book was actually quite well done in terms of ove...

** A copy of Eight Will Fall was provided by the publisher and Edelweiss+ in exchange for an honest review **When I read the blurb for the book, I was very excited. I was so glad to get an ARC for it, and jumped into it immediately. Unfortunately, it left me a little disappointed. I just couldn't get into the book. There's a lot going on with 8 main characters. Plus, I wasn't expecting this much gore. I went into it thinking it was a fantasy nove...

This was... a lot darker than I thought it would be. The plot summary was so alluring to me, fated magic and the fact that the stake were really high, but it takes it in a strange direction. It's gruesome and not very magical, less high fantasy and more Crimson Peak. It's got the feeling of Atlantis: The Lost Empire mixed with Beneath the Citadel and American Horror Story. Maybe that's something you are drawn to, but not me. Even still it's a wel...

#EightWillFall brings magic and bandits to a new genre blend. Sarah Harian creates a foreboding feel of overwhelmingly intense darkness. You know something bad is going to happen which keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire novel.

When we were underground, it felt like we were underground, the author did an excellent job of writing her setting. I think I liked the concept of this book, I just think the world building wasn't quite all there so it got a little muddled at times.
