Double Blind (Kendra Michaels, #6) by Iris Johansen

Double Blind (Kendra Michaels, #6)

Kendra Michaels, formerly blind and now a hired gun for law enforcement agencies who relies on her razor-sharp powers of observation, is reluctant to help the FBI with the most recent case they’ve brought to her. But then she hears the details: the body was found just blocks away from Kendra’s condo. The young woman was carrying an envelope with Kendra’s name on it, and inside was an SD card with what appears to be an innocuous video of a w...

Kendra Michaels was blind from birth. Until she wasn’t; due to a rare, successful stem cell surgery. While she was blind, her determined, brilliant mother decided that Kendra was going to grow up extraordinary. Kendra thought this was a fine idea, and in furtherance of this goal developed her other senses to an almost otherworldly degree. Even when Kendra gained her sight, she still honed this talent of noticing what most of us have always miss...

I'll preface this review by saying that this is my first book by these authors and it is exactly what I was expecting. I felt like I was reading a soft core superhero story. I found the characters to be unbelievable and not engaging enough for my tastes. That being said, I can see the appeal of this series for readers that enjoy a light read with a strong female lead. The last couple of chapters were really good, I only wish the rest of the novel...

The way this started, it seemed it would be better. This story stumbles and plods along to a most unsatisfactory conclusion. 3 of 10 stars

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. A huge fan of Iris Johansen's Eve Duncan books, this is my first foray into her Kendra Michaels series. Double Blind is just as intricate as any of her previous plots with plenty of government coverups and advances in science technology. But maybe because this is book 6 and I am just encountering the characters now that I have this feeling that I just "liked" it enough for it to b...

Another fabulous book from Iris and Roy Johansen!!! This dream team continues to write some of best thriller and suspense novels out their. Their characters are so interesting and so multidimensional and I feel like I know them personally. Double Blind has one of my favorite characters of all kendra Michael s a formerly blind woman who got her sight back, but who see's,hears and smells things that others dont. When a woman is killed trying to get ...

It's just a couple of years ago that I read my first Iris Johansen book. It was an Eve Duncan book and I just loved it since then have I read several from that series and some from this the Kendra Michael series. Kendra Michaels was born blind, but she got her sight back as an adult and she has a keen sense for details that other miss which help a lot when FBI needs her help. Like this time when a woman is killed just a couple of blocks from Ken...

Kendra Michaels is not too happy about working with the FBI again, but this case has her name on it. Literally. A woman is killed, and on her body they find an envelope addressed to Kendra. Inside the envelope is a wedding video that no one seems to be able to make heads or tails of. As Kendra gets involved, the body count rises and Kendra herself is in danger. The 6th book in the Kenra Michaels series by Iris Johansen. I haven't read all of the ...

Double Blind is the sixth novel in the Johansen's Kendra Michaels series and is a fast-paced thriller that is sure to have wide appeal. The main concept is that Kendra, like the superhero Daredevil, grew up blind and thus developed super-senses which allow almost Sherlock Holmesian powers of deduction. Those supersenses are featured at the start, but that focus should have continued throughout. Black ops, a Mack Bolan style warrior buddy, and mys...

There is a serial plot within a corporate illegal activity/cover up plot in this book. Only the serial killer element is resolved, the corporate plot is left as a cliffhanger for the next book. I'm never thrilled when all the threads aren't resolved and this was a huge thread. Although I've enjoyed a couple of books in this series and had previously been really interested in the characters, that's actually no longer the case. I DNF'd book 5 and w...

Too far over the top. If you don't like macabre stories don't read this book. Kendra is extremely observant so she gets hired as a consultant to the FBI. Guests at an event are being murdered and anybody who investigates is targeted. The first mystery is revealed halfway and it's sick. The bigger mystery is why are so many people willing enable it and cover it up. The narrative is 90% dialogue.

First Thoughts (1 star)Dialogue written for hormonal teenagers. Belief that women secretly long to fall in love with jerks. Women who can’t think for themselves and so second-guess themselves every time a man disagrees with them. And I’m still in the first chapter. Hhhmmm...After first couple of CDS (2 stars):I’m trying to get through this. I’ve upgraded to two stars because I’m beginning to see that the text would not be as bad without...

I received this ARC copy of Double Blind via a goodreads giveaway.A friend introduced me to the Eve Duncan series quite some time ago; but, I find the new characters, introduced via that series to be just as intriguing. This is another novel in the Kendra Michaels series.Kendra was born blind and her best friend, Olivia was blinded by an accident. Kendra’s sight was restored via an experimental stem cell operation in another country and this ga...

I really disliked this book. I found it extremely annoying and poorly written. Perhaps it is the genre, but I would not read another of this author's books.

The Johansens (mother and son) write very fast moving books. Lots of dialogue/action, I never felt the book lagged. I really enjoy Kendra's 'superpowers'--she gets away with being Sherlockian in an almost believable way (she had been blind so her heightened other senses help her be far more observant than most seeing people). And I enjoy the relationship with Lynch. The other characters were a little two dimensional but somehow you just get caugh...

I have come to like Kendra Michaels more than Eve Duncan but this book falls short on action and suspense and has too much relationship stuff which I don't want in a mystery novel. But thanks to Goodreads for the ARC.

If you are a fan of Iris Johansen, you will enjoy this story. If you have read any of the Kendra Michaels books, this is another suspenseful story involving her well-honed senses that she developed while she was blind and trained after her successful stem cell surgery. There is not as much of her life dealing with music therapy in this book, which I missed. Once again, Michael Griffin, Special Agent in charge of the San Diego FBI office, draws Ke...

Kendra Michaels is once again drawn into a FBI investigation although this time by the murder victim. Kendra relies heavily on her heightened senses to pick up on clues that the average investigator doesn't. In this case, the murder victim was murdered trying to get to Kendra's apartment. The interesting twist is that Kendra has no idea who the woman is or why she would want to get to Kendra. We see many of the former characters that we have met ...

LOVED having more Adam/Kendra moments but missed the stronger suspense element I've come to expect in this series. Of course, last time I was complaining about not having enough Adam. Overall, a great installment to the series and left me wanting book 7 even more! This remains one of my favorite romantic suspense series.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Double Blind by Iris and Roy Johansen that I read and reviewed. This is the sixth book in the Kendra Michaels series and I can honestly say I think this series gets better with each book. This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I was actually in tears at one point because I am so invested in these characters and I was feeling Kendra's pain at one point. I love it and I can't wait to see where the authors...

Another tale involving formerly blind Kendra Michaels and her keen abilities of observation to solve the latest mystery with the help of her supporting cast including Oliva, her childhood friend who happens to be blind and Adam Lynch, a man with a "special set of skills" and the fiery Jessie Mercado, private investigator. This was another enjoyable read and thank you GoodReads for the advance reader copy.

Double Blind by both Iris and Roy Johansen is an exciting thriller. A deadly game that could end up worse if not stopped soon. A serial killer is hired by a company to handle problems for them only that the killer goes off the edge and blackmails them. The killer is then able to get away with a lot more than planned. Murders are now being traced to the company and the company can't control their hired hired any longer.  FBI is introduced into th...

Oh my… another winner from Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen. I started the Kendra Michaels series about 2 books back and have not been able to pass up reading them. They are books that I know will entertain, keep my attention, and make me think while reading them. With Double Blind we find Kendra pulled into another FBI investigation where someone is targeting guests at a wedding. A video of the wedding is given to Kendra and that is her only clu...

I have always enjoyed the Kendra Michaels series from Iris Johansen, and this book is no exception. After all, Kendra is a genius when it comes to noticing things that others do not. I find that fascinating.A young woman dies whilst on her way to deliver a copy of a wedding video to Kendra. It is up to Kendra to figure out why that is, with the help of Adam Lynch (lots of chemistry there!) and Jessie Mercado. This is a very twisted tale and as th...

Kendra Michaels reluctantly agrees to assist the FBI with an unusual case and learns that the victim was carrying an envelope addressed to her. Inside, she finds a flash drive with a recording of a wedding reception. But she knows none of the people; she sees nothing that she recognizes. Before Kendra and the FBI can figure out why the video was so important to the woman carrying it, the bride’s abduction sets in motion a hunt for a ruthless, d...

I love the character of Kendra Michaels and have been a long-time reader of Iris Johansen but am starting to think these stories are getting to be too much for me in the areas of graphic violence and pure evil. Kendra teams up with Adam Lynch on another serial killer case. This one hits close to home for Kendra making her determined to be involved to take the killer down. The action is intense and keeps you reading. They get the killer in the end...

Love Kendra Micheals stories. When a woman dies with a flash drive on her way to find Kendra, things get personal. Of course Lynch will do anything to protect Kendra, but she feels better dealing with things on her own. That is until her best friend Olivia is taken. Then all bets are off. Which leads to Kendra, Lynch, and Jessie heading to Afghanistan, but that's also where the story ends. Can't wait for next one. Thanks to netgalley for giving m...

Kendra Michales helps out with strange cases for the FBI. This is book 6 in her series. She prefers her job helping autistic children and is reluctant to change her schedule but a woman died near Kendra's house with an envelope addressed to her. Now people associated with the dead woman are disappearing and it seems there is a big conspiracy including the government. This series is becoming a little to graphic and violent for me. Two questions, when is the next Kendra Michaels book coming out and why haven't her and Lynch been made into a TV show? I didn't realize how over Eve Duncan I was until I read the other books by Iris Johansen. Kendra Michaels was born blind until an experimental surgery gave her sight again. Her extra honed senses have made her a sought after consult to the police AND the FBI which is how she met Lynch (now working freelance) and how they stumble...
