But I never stopped missing my long-ago friends. Now we're back on my childhood estate to arrange my marriage. The boys I grew up with? They're still in town—and they haven't forg...

Reviews Consort of Secrets (The Witch's Consorts #1)

  • Rebecca McNutt
There are literal tonnes of witch books out there, it's a constantly growing subgenre, but Consort of Secrets stood out because despite it being marketed as paranormal romance, it has deeper underlying themes of friendship and family and the great divide between them, even in a world where magical powers exist and witches are supposed to be united with each other. For Rose, everything in life has been planned for her, including who she's to be fr...

Ever since Reverse Harem Month, I've been keeping an eye on the subgenre. There's something extra delightfully naughty about not having to choose between your favourite types of heroes. You can have the bad boy, the nice guy, the dark and handsome figure... It may not be common in real life, but romance allows us to explore our fantasies, and having a group to give you the love you desire (physically and emotionally) is actually a rather nice one...

Wow. Just wow. The fact that I read this book in no time at all says plenty already. Pretty sure I read this book faster than I normally do just because of the writing - and that's something I rarely say / admit! It's been a while since I read a fantasy novel with witches that I actually loved reading. Consort of Secrets is now easily at the top of my list. Ea-si-ly.So, obviously, our main character Rose is a witch, but she hasn't gotten into h...

Omg!!! This is Eva’s best Book to date! I’m in love with Rose and all of her boys and I love the way magic works in her witching world! I NEED book 2 now!!!!

**Review on **Rose and her boys were inseparable as kids, so much so that her father took her away because those with "the spark" can't commingle with those without. Now, 11 years later, Rose and her parents have returned to the estate abandoned so long ago so that Rose can come into adulthood and marry. But Rose has not forgotten her boys, nor they her. Reverse Harems are my most current reading obsession. T...

KUThis is a well written novel, although it took me 40-50% to actually feel that the book was making a concentrated headway. It is definitely a slow burn, though having said that the novel itself does make its way into some reverse harem action. Once the story gets underway it manages to pull the reader in, and I am certainly going to move on to the next novel.

Rose hasn't seen her best friends in years. She used to spend all of her free time with Kyler, Seth, Jin and Damon. Until her stepmother sent her elsewhere and prevented her from seeing them again. Rose's family has magic and she isn't supposed to share that outside the community, but her friends have always known there's something special about Rose. Will they still accept her as one of them again after many years without staying in touch?Rose w...

Overall, I'd say this was a middle of the road read. I think it could have used higher stakes and a more adult themed story to match the reverse harem concept. Even so, it kept me engaged enough to want to learn how the storyline panned out. I give Consort of Secrets a solid 3. Read full review here:*I received a free copy of this book through Netgalley.

I have been very into reverse harem fiction lately and while this is not the best of what I have read recently in that genre it is still quite enjoyable and a fun escape. I really like the characters and I feel like they are fairly well fleshed out and he story holds my interest. I think this series is stronger than the other books I have read by Eva Chase. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest...

The book was okay and easy read but it switches between characters points of view and it’s hard to establish the main character doing so

I really enjoyed this book, it was very easy to read and was very character driven, which I love. After reading this book, I learnt what a 'reverse harem' was - which is always interesting! In this book, the heroine gets to skip the angst of deciding which preternaturally hot man she's going to keep and just keeps all of them. Each man has his own distinct personality and style, so they're not all generic 'sexy love interest' and they have their o...

Felt more about the magic than the love... I . Did. Not. Enjoy. Myself. This felt more about the magic then anything else, especially the love...Rose had an almost desperate need for her magic, and seemed willing to do almost anything to get it....This book soooo DID NOT go the way I expected, I read most of “Rose’s boys” and almost immediately felt their connect,it felt strong and beautiful and potent and when I got to the point where the big...

May be a little SpoileryOn the rare occasions I do read romance it is typically a Paranormal or Urban Fantasy, this book being the former. So when I requested this book I was doubly indulging in my guilty pleasure of romance upon seeing it was also a reverse harem situation. I actually really enjoyed this quick read for several reasons. I thought the way magic worked in this world was interesting in that the women had the power once they took a c...

On the cover we see Rose Hallowell holding her hips. She must never have revealed that she is a witch. Her fiancé is her beautiful mother who chose her for her. His childhood friends remain in his thoughts, even if they are not of the same world. She will discover family secrets she had never imagined. We lied to him, we betrayed him, to get revenge, she's going to do that to her head.A first volume with engaging characters, a story to take. Eag...

I received an advance review copy in exchange for an honest review. This is a really different and interesting story line by Eva Chase.I have been very into reverse harem fiction lately and while this is not the best of what I have read recently in that genre it is still quite enjoyable and a fun escape. Looking forward to the second book.

4.5. I got sucked right in to this one. The writing was solid, I loved the magic system, Rose, her guys, and her best friend Philomena, who literally came from the pages of a book. Will definitely read more in this series.

DNF. It's too fairytale retelling for me. It seems to have mashed at least 2 fairytales into this story, possibly 3. It's possible it's a good book if you're into that sort of thing. Unfortunately I prefer my fairytales in the original or Disney format.

Great!Great story. Hopefully they reveal why it worked with her unsparked guys and why they are hiding it. The new arrival hopefully won’t cause too many problems.

Title: Consort Of SecretsAuthor: Eva ChaseGenre: Adult, ParanormalFormat: Ebook - NetGalleyPages: 212Rating: 5Heat: 5Thoughts: Holy crap that was intense! Waiting for the next book is going to leave me antsy. There are so many twists and turns, with a huge shocker near the end that I ended up getting trapped in the book. Couldn’t put it down if my life depended on it, and thankfully I didn’t have to. But I ended up with a huge book hang...

This book was great from page one! Eva Chase has set us up with a new world of witches that is different from anything I've ever read. This book was a page turner from the begging and leaves you with so many questions begging for the next installment!

I admit, at first, I'm undecided if the read has captured my interest or not. But as the story progressed, the more I've come to appreciate it. Until I practically devoured the second half, totally on the edge of my seat & metaphorically biting my nails (because I keep my nails painfully too short to be chewed on)...then BAM! end of story. I feel like giving myself a bitch slap, tbh. First of all, how awesome is the concept of a heroine being abl...

Oh my god, this book was so good! An entirely different universe than her Dragon Mate series, but just as good! Rose and her boys are all characters that you just have to love and root for! There is some mystery and plenty of intrigue. I read it straight through in one sitting! And the end seriously make me desperate for the rest of the story!!
  • Victoria (nocturnalintimacy)
Kindle Unlimited.Meh. I'm not completely sold on this. It wasn't bad...and arguably, it was actually better in development than a lot of the other Reverse Harem stories I've read. I don't doubt the chemistry of any of the characters, but somehow I wasn't the biggest fan of the main character. She seemed weak. I mean, for goodness sake, she's 24! Why is she cowering? Also, I feel like the lack of affection from her fiance is a huge plot hole. What...

I received a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. The main reason why I requested a copy of this title was my newfound obsession with everything reverse harem. I didn’t even stop to consider my previous experiences with the author writing, her style. The thing is that if I purely look at the story from the technical parts then it’s pretty great. The writing is so much neater than it was in Dragon’s guard (the other book I read f...

I loved it! It had all the necessary ingredients of a great story: memorable, relatable and distinct characters, interesting storyline and just the right level of steaminess. I loved how each of the guys had a different personality, different take on the situation and still were there for Rose 100%. Damon's anger and Seth's scepticism had their place and were convincing. Thankfully the next book in the series is already out!

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and this doesn't in any way influence my opinion on it.Warning: Slight spoilers of Rose's BoysLately I have been curious about reverse harems (RH) and since they are currently trending plenty of them have popped-up. I have been looking on amazon for reverse harem ebooks, I ended up purchasing a few (or several ;) ) I haven't read any yet. While in my pursuit for RH books I found Eva Chase, ...

Check out the super-giveaway along with this review and more about the book on my blog, Book-o-Craze!I have to admit that it had been positively ages since the last time I read a reverse harem novel. And, Consort of Secrets is just the kind of book that if you are even a little bit interested in that genre, your interest is sparked right away. In a major way.First things first, what amazed me more about this book was the fact that the pages were f...

In a world where only the women have magic and their consorts refuel said magic by being intimate, we meet Rose Hallowell, a witch soon turning the critical age of 25. If she hasn't taken a consort from one of the other witching families by then, she will lose her magic spark forever.Returning home after a forced 11 years absence fills Rose with joy, even if it is to fulfil an arranged marriage. It also brings back memories of her 5 childhood fri...

In my recent foray into the work of Reverse Harem, I haven’t come across many that I haven’t enjoyed. Most do a wonderful job of building up HUGE amounts of angst and romance, that get the reader almost desperate for the promised “love connection” that these books promise. And when I mean love connection, I mean love with 3+ men. In Chase’s CONSORT OF SECRETS the promise is five men. The main character Rose is a witch, in a world that k...
