I've wanted to read a novel by Lynn Cahoon for years, but it never crept high enough in my TBR-- no clue why, perhaps I was just overwhelmed with options in the cozy world. Then I was given an opportunity to read and review her latest book, Slay in Character, in the Cat Latimer mystery series. Yikes, why did I wait so long! 4.25 stars to this fantastic story. To start with, the premise of the series is about a writer who runs a writing group wher...

The 5 writers from the current Writers Retreat along with Jessica Ball who is the current student from the college are gathered in Outlaw, Colorado, a ghost town that will give them an experience of a Western town in the 1800's. The writers are all penned romance and are from the same town. One of the actors, Jessi's roommate is found strangled to death in the saloon.Later the group went to check out the area where the body was found. Cat finds i...

Slay In Character is the 4th book in Lynn Cahoon's Cat Latimer Mystery series. This is the first book I've read in the series and the first book by this author that I've read. Cat Latimer runs a writer's retreat workshop in small town Colorado. This workshop seems to be running smoothly when one of her guest's friends is murdered.I liked the story line itself alright, and the characters were all likeable. However, I felt like this book picked up ...

I was so delighted to receive and advanced reading copy of Lynn Cahoon's book Slay In Character. This is a series I love, simply because the idea of this type of a writers retreat really appeals to me, the setting is so plausible and the characters are all so likeable. I love that something big is always happening and something fun is always being discussed during these writer retreats. I think Cat the main character is well written. Divorced, an...

I received an ARC to read and give an unbiased review. While I really liked this book, I felt a little lost at times because I hadn't read the some of the previous books in the series. The characters are likeable, and interact well together. The locations are nicely described, and the plot was well thought-out. A few twists, but no big surprise ending, at least for me. I figured out whodunnit and why, and even Seth's surprise project for Cat & Sha...

This is one of my favorite Lynn Cahoon series. When I pick up a Cat Latimer mystery I know I am in for hours of enjoyment. Slay in Character if the 4th book in a series I hope is around for a long time. What I enjoy most is the theme. I think the writer's retreat gives Ms. Cahoon the ability to bring her readers a regular cast of characters with a rotating cast of secondary characters that can be different and diverse each time. Cat, Shauna, Seth...

Slay In Character by Lynn Cahoon is book four in the Cat Latimer series and I was pulled in from the first chapter.Another writer's retreat in Aspen Hills with a group of women writers who actually have a writing group in their home town. As much as I enjoy visiting Aspen Hills, Cat, Shauna, Seth and Uncle Pete, I really enjoyed meeting the women at the retreat. They were all supportive of each other and seemed to genuinely enjoy spending time to...

This is the 4th in the “Cat Latimer Series”. This time around a group of romance writers have come to the retreat. When one of the writers has a friend and co-worker murdered, the entire group of writers get involved in helping to try to find the killer. This series keeps getting better and better. The characters are very well written and the story always keeps my interest from start to finish. The characters are extremely likable and have de...

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in return for an honest review.Lynn Cahoon has added another wonderful book to the Cat Latimer Mystery series. The characters that we have come to love from the previous books are back - Cat, Seth, Uncle Pete and Shauna. It wouldn't be a Writer's Retreat without a houseful of guests there to write and learn. Of course, what would a retreat be without some mayhem and murder. On a visi...

Another awesome book in the Cat Latimer cozy mystery series by Lynn Cahoon! I love this series! It has everything I love about cozy mysteries-interesting likable characters, an intriguing mystery, friendship, and romance! It isn't graphic, intense or scary. Cat and her friend Shauna run a Writer's Retreat along with Cat's boyfriend Seth who does the handyman jobs. A group of writers arrive for the week who already know each other plus a Covington...

Slay in Character is the 4th Cat Latimer mystery by Lynn Cahoon. This series just gets better with each new book. This one gives us a new group of characters at the writer's retreat and they're a very likable group of women. Usually there's at least one character that annoys me amongst the retreat guests, but that wasn't the case this time. I did guess who the killer was, but I couldn't guess why they'd do it, so it was still a satisfying resolut...

Cat runs a writers retreat out of her house located near a ghost town, turned tourist attraction. The current group of writers are trying to find inspiration for their historical romance books that need to be finished. There are a few subplots that keep the story interesting, and the characters more defined. When a murder occurs, and estrange things start to happen, our main characters get involved in the search for the truth, with all the possib...

It's been a while since our last visit with Cat and her group and I was really starting to miss her. I had wondered at the ending of the last book if it would be the last in the series but I'm so glad it wasn't. I see there is another one planned and I can't wait to see what kind of trouble Cat gets into in that one. This is a great series and I recommend you read it but remember to start at the beginning. Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley...

I received a free copy of SLAY IN CHARACTER (A Cat Latimer Mystery Book 4) by Lynn Cahoon in exchange for an honest review. Cat Latimer is an author of young adult novels and owns an inn where she hosts writing retreats. One of her guests, Jessi Ball, is present as part of a fellowship granted by local Covington College. Jessi works part-time at the local ghost town attraction, and she is called away from the retreat unexpectedly because her coll...
