A delightfully sweet romance layered with historical fiction, life lessons, and difficult choices. ⭐⭐⭐⭐SUMMARYThe beautiful actress Grace Kelly is visiting the Cannes Film Festival in May 1955 where she is relentlessly pursued by a British photographer. Kelly enters a perfume shop where she is tucked away in an office by the shop’s owner, Sophie Duval just as the pursuing photographer enters the shop. Because of this act of kindness th...

Like their wonderful collaboration LAST CHRISTMAS IN PARIS, Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb have again crafted a spellbinding historical romance. Set largely on the lush Cote d’Azur, MEET ME IN MONACO is a tale of first, missed, and second chances–of relatable women and men trying to make good lives for themselves in spite of difficult circumstances. It is a fairy tale set in post-war Europe, with an enchanting, fascinating fairy godmother: Gra...

The advanced copy fairy continues to treat me very well! Here are my thoughts about this fantastic book:Webb and Gaynor’s latest collaboration is a historical fiction home run. The duo brings to life a vivid, engaging heroine, a glorious Côte d'Azur setting, and the ultimate princess, Grace Kelly. MEET ME IN MONACO is smart, romantic, and heartbreaking, and the tale captivates from the start.

This was, until the last 34 pages, a perfect 5 star read. It’s still good, delightful, and beautifully written; but the ending, while ultimately sweet, initially left me bitter.

As I sigh and take a deep breath, I wonder and think about this book."If's. Buts. Maybes. Memories and regrets. They are all carried in the stars." I love this quote from this beautiful book. A scent has the power to evoke a memory. Sophie Duval is a perfumer. She creates scents that can hold memories. This book is a richly woven tapestry of love and memories. It is interlaced with Grace Kelly's story of becoming a Princess and is an integral par...

Ah Monaco. The perfect place for romance. In this delightful book the authors tell the story of actress Grace Kelly traveling to Monaco to join Prince Rainier III in the marriage of the century when she will become Princess Grace. With fairytale worthy descriptions of the castle, the church, the flowers, the wedding dresses, I was swept away to join in all the festivities. This fast-paced love story kept me racing through the pages, hesitant to p...

A floating, balmy romantic read that takes place primarily in the Cote 'd Azure of France. The backdrop is a chance meeting of Hollywood star Grace Kelly, perfumer Sophie Duval, and Jim Henderson the photographer she was trying to avoid. From the Cannes Film Festival 1955, the epic wedding of Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier, through the next 20+ years, these lives would be intertwined. A love story of coming of age and second chances. Thanks to Will...

I’ve always been a fan of Grace Kelly and was very excited to get an early copy of this book. Although only about a small period of Grace Kelly’s life but more about two others who met because of her. It’s their story that’s so good! The whole book grabbed my attention! It was so good, making me wish for more!

The Cannes Film Festival of 1955, was the site of the momentous meeting of the international film star, Grace Kelly, and Prince Rainier III of Monaco. A short year later, on April 19, 1956, the two were married in a Catholic ceremony at St. Nicholas Cathedral, in front of 600 guests and the world stage of television. The well known love story between a movie star and the world’s most eligible bachelor is well documented in print and documentari...

This is the kind of novel you devour in a day. It's so beautiful, unpredictable, and luscious, and I lost myself in the scents and scenery of southern France and Monaco. This is the story of Sophie, a perfumer trying to keep her business alive in Provence in the 1950s, as well as the story of James Henderson, a British newspaper photographer coming to terms with post-WWII life. The two meet in the hoopla surrounding the wedding of Grace Kelly to ...

As I sit back and sigh contentedly over this lovely read, the words that come to mind are…enchanting, romantic, tantalizing, glamorous. This is one of the most satisfying reads I have had in a while. Before Meghan Markle’s wedding there was the wedding of Grace Kelly to the Prince of Monaco. Through Gaynor and Webb’s exquisite descriptions of the vistas, the clothing, and the scents I felt like I was part of the story. The book also has sev...

I just finished reading an ARC of Meet Me In Monaco by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb, courtesy of Goodreads Giveaway. I started reading this book under the impression it was Historical Fiction, but soon realized although it takes place in Monaco in the mid 1950's, technically fitting into the genre, it is definitely a love story. Also to my surprise, this is not the story of Grace Kelly meeting her prince. Grace is present - the story opens with h...

As I dry my tears, I am ready to jet off to the Cote d'Azur. I want to drown myself in the scents and sunshine. But you don't need to spend a fortune on a vacation to the French Riviera, Meet Me in Monaco will take you there within its pages.I have long been a Grace Kelly fan and I adored the way Heather Webb and Hazel Gaynor wove her story into that of Sophie and James. The story enfolds with a serendipitous meeting of Grace and Sophie at Sophie...

A sweet, poignant, unrequited loved story set against the historical events of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier's courtship and marriage.Sophie Duval, a French perfumer, with locations in both Cannes and Grasse, meets Grace Kelly in the most unexpected way. Grace steps into her store to escape the paparazzi. She is in Cannes for the film festival and to meet Prince Rainier for the first time, as a publicity event. While in the store, Sophie and Gra...

4.5 stars but rounded up!I absolutely adored this book! It is beautifully written and alternates between James’ perspective (British photographer), Sophie’s perspective (French perfumer), and newspaper headlines of Grace Kelly which makes this an easy and quick read. You won’t have a more gorgeous setting for a book (Cote d’ Azur!). Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco meet and then eventually marry. The book begins when Grace Kelly e...

Such a romantic story...the setting of the Côte d’Azur, the lovely fragrances of flowers and perfumes that I could imagine so vividly. And running through the background of the main story is the marriage of Grace Kelly to Prince Rainier of Monaco. Sigh. Thank you to Goodreads Giveaways for the advance reader copy.

I won this book from Goodreads. I haven't quite finished it, but since you are asking me for my review, here it is: This is far from the type of story I am usually attracted to, but this book has turned out to be quite enchanting! Additionally, it actually runs alongside a period of history that actually happened...The story of the marriage of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco...which was truly an exciting bit of history! I am ever so grat...

    Fantastic historical fiction.

This is a pleasant story of a chance meeting between a British photographer and a French perfumier during the visit and subsequent marriage of Grace Kelly in Monaco. It has the old-fashioned feel and formality of a 50's Hollywood romance. An easy read with some interesting details for that time period, I found it an enjoyable for a rainy, spring afternoon.I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.

Woohoo! This is my 300th book review! See what I thought of this historical, biographical, women's fiction novel that is being touted as a "summer read" (because of the romance aspect) but I call it "Heaven Scent" (and no, that's not a misspelling) on my blog now!

The backdrop of the story is the whirlwind courtship and marriage of Grace Kelly and the Prince of Monaco. The actual story centers around Sophie Duval and James Henderson. Sophie is a perfumer and James is a British press photographer. The book opens when Grace Kelly escapes into Sophie's shop as she alludes the photographer Henderson. A bond is formed between Grace and Sophie, as well as, Sophie and the photographer, James. It is an utterly gri...

An unexpected meeting in a perfume store in Cannes between Grace Kelly and perfumer Sophie Duval has a profound impact on the perfumer. Struggling to keep her family business afloat the meeting with Grace Kelly provides an unexpected opportunity, an unexpected romance, and an unexpected friend. I received this book through a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review.3.5 StarsI wanted to love this book. I adored and devoured Last Christmas In Paris. I love historical fiction, though to be fair this is a bit more recent than I usually like. The beginning was a bit slow and just didn't grab me, but once I got into "act 2" (though a bit before the actual 2nd divider in the book) I was hooked and didn't want to put it down. But then...

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC from Hazel Gaynor, one of the co authors of this historical fiction novel, and oh my, what a gift! I discovered the amazing and lyrical works of Hazel Gaynor two years ago as I recovered from knee surgery, and it was her book, The Cottingley Secret, which helped me emerge from a post surgery reading slump. I must say that I devoured the rest of her books and they were all terrific. This latest, which she c...
