Another compelling installment in this series! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Sayer Altair is an FBI neuroscientist studying the minds of serial killers. Shockingly, she found one within the FBI itself. She also was shot and was on desk duty for a while as a result of her efforts to put the criminal behind bars. Now that she’s out from behind the desk, Sayer is called to a sinkhole filled with human bones. The location is in Shenandoah National Park in Vi...

This book will keep you up at night reading, and you should maybe think about keeping the lights on for a few of the chapters if you are prone to getting too invested in a story. It's been six months since Sayer Altair discovered a prolific serial killer inside the FBI. She's still dealing with the fallout--including Congressional hearings and independent counsel combing through hundreds of past cases. Her boss, Assistant Director Janice Holt, is testifying at Capitol Hill. Sayer, a neurobiologist with FBI's National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime, has been recovering from her injuries from her previous case and...

Tho you don’t need to read Caged, the first in this series, it would help before reading this one to get more of a back story on the characters. This did not disappoint as a follow up to Caged! Excitement through the entire book clear to the last page. Flawed characters that are realistic and draw you in. This eludes to another book and I certainly can’t wait to read it. Much thanks to Minotaur for this early copy:)

The events in Caged, the previous title in the Sayer Altair series, had led to her being shot and confined to desk duty. In Buried, Sayer gets sent back to the field when an FBI agent and his cadaver dog stumble upon a cavern filled with human bones in Shenandoah national park. The remains trace back to old cases, as well as reveal links to current investigations. With the FBI spread thin under the scrutiny of investigations into corruption, Sayer...

Psychopaths-"Delusional Narcissists that believe they're gods."Well hoot, that just summed it up nicely.Add to this the family that is secondary and replaceable and you have Buried. It's all talk from the grave but it would never have been uncovered if not for FBI Senior Special Agent Sayer who got the ball rolling after uncovering a killer within the FBI.She suffered for that decision being put on desk duty but she'd more than likely do it all ov...

When I received this book I was so excited I had not read the first book but I still loved this book and was not at all confused! Buried is the second book in the Agent Sayer Altair series, a gritty, dark, intelligent crime procedural. I had high expectations going into this story since I was absolutely captivated by Caged, it’s precursor. In fact, Buried was one of my most anticipated releases of the year, and being a crime book junkie, I’m selective in offering high praise to mysteries. I’m happy to report that Buried did not disappoint and fully lived up to my expe...

Buried is author Ellison Cooper’s second novel featuring Senior Special Agent Sayer Altair. I read the first novel Caged last year and it was an excellent debut novel. While you can read this second novel without reading the first one – If you think your interested in Caged go ahead and read it first or the backstory from Buried will spoil some things for you. This book picks up where Caged left off. Agent Sayer Altair is an FBI neuroscientis...

The second Sayer Altair book does not disappoint. Just as relentless a page turner as the first, with plenty of twists and misdirections to keep you guessing, and splashes of obscure cultural trivia that fascinate and horrify at the same time.As the title suggests, this story is claustrophobic, both physically and psychologically, as Sayer tries to figure out how fresh bodies and old ended up together in a cave, racing to prevent more deaths, ...

4.5/5! Rouding up for Goodreads! After an intense case that left her with a bullet wound, Agent Sayer Altair has been spending the past six months on desk duty. During her time away from the field she has focused on her research into the minds of psychopaths. Interrupting this research is a new case that has just been assigned to Sayer. Buried book review – no spoilersYou know when you step away from a genre for a while and then you decide to give it a go again? That's what I did with police thrillers. Well I dipped my toe back in with Buried and I am so happy I did! What can I say about this novel? Now, it's part of a series and it looks like it's the second book within that, but you don’t need to read the first one if you don’t want to. I didn't. Not that I didn't want t...

Anytime a dog can be woven into a story, especially a police dog, it has my attention. This book does just that. While Max, an off-duty FBI agent is walking his cadaver dog, the dog senses death. They follow the scent to a certain area where Max ends up falling into a sinkhole that is filled with human bones.FBI Senior Special Agent Sayer Altair, who is a neuroscientist, is called back from medical leave to supervise the discovery of what appears...

Disclaimer: I didn’t know this was a part 2 in a series until I started reading it (Caged is #1), but it did not matter at all. I will definitely be purchasing Caged, though! If you’re a fan of serial killer documentaries and studies on psychopaths, then this is the book for you. Technically, it’s a detective story, but it’s so much more! Sayer, who studies psychopaths for the FBI is now back in action after a work related injury (in part...

Once again Ms. Cooper delivers with Buried her second Sayer Altair book. Great Character development with Sayer being the primary focus and she is such a great lead. In addition we have several of the characters from her first book and some new faces to round out the cast. The story takes place primarily at Shenandoah National Park which provides a wide range of dark and creepy settings. The fall's stormy weather just adds to the tension. Ah and ...

Buried is my first Ellison Cooper novel. I sliced through it like a hot sword through butter. The suspense throughout was generous and maintained. The clock was literally ticking. Sayer and her FBI pals teamed up with Park Rangers, namely Piper. Washington political weasels were being their weaselly selves, doing more harm than good. All normal there. In the meantime, the small FBI team had to press on to find kidnapped women and child. If a nove...

Short Take: This author is a sadist and I kind of love her.(*Note: I received an advance copy of this book for review.*)You guys. You. Guys. Something seriously major has happened here, possibly for the first time ever. I really, really liked this book, much more than Caged, the first book in the series. This second installment was more cohesive and easier to follow, despite an equally complex plot. The characters who continued from the first book have evolved and, in dealing with momentous life challenges, revealed depth and inner strength. In this outing, FBI Senior Special Agent is dispatched to a national forest in Virginia to investigate an old body dump, co...
