Clearly, I'm biased, but to be fair, I didn't write the whole thing. ;) I'm so super excited for everyone to dive into this adventure! We've had so much fun creating this world, where different shifters (mermaids, dragons, and werebears, to name just a few) are pitted against vampires. And a secret society of human hunters are determined to eradicate both sides. It's been so fun writing Kenzie, as well, and I'm super excited about continuing her ...

Shifted by Shifter's academy authors is a well written book that covers the paranormal in a unique way. I enjoyed how she brought the shifters together the way she did, with the vampires as their enemy, which yes is not 100% unique. However, she took it a step further, which I can't tell since that would be a serious spoiler and I don't like to ruin a book for my fellow lovers of the paranormal. So do yourself a favor and go read it. This book st...

Full disclosure: I’m still reading this book! I’m 1/4 of the way in, but wanted to leave a review since it’s coming out soon and folks might be interested to know what others think of it before buying. Review: so... mermaids ARE popular again. When I was a kid in the late 80s, we were all obsessed (and that was even before Disney’s little mermaid). Then they sort of went away. But this is not the first book I’ve recently seen where merm...

This book was incredibly disappointing. I was so excited for it based on the cover, the synopsis, and of course MERMAIDS. I tried so hard to like it but the slow progression of action if you can really call anything in this book action made any interest I had flicker out pretty quickly. Not to mention the repetition. If I had to hear about about how Myreen wasn't a "real mermaid" one more time I might lose it. There wasn't a single redeemable qua...

I absolutely loved this book! I loved learning about the different types of shifters and their war with the vampires. I loved the characters, especially Myreen and Juliet. I didn't care much for Kendall and his actions toward Myreen just seemed off to me. Especially, since she looked so much like Alessandra. I liked Kol and his friends better but he really needs to make his mind up about what he wants. Overall, I loved the book and just can't wai...

I received a free copy for an honest review.Firstly, I love the plot more than the characters. The sequence of events are nicely done, building up to the imminent war between vampires and shifters. The inclusion of a lone vampire allied to the shifters and his participation to spy into the vampire group led by Draven, includes the vampire's backstory. Selkies or magic users, described as untrustworthy by the shifters, makes me wonder what had hap...

Myreen’s mom has moved her around from one place to another all her life. All her life Myreen had rules that she had to follow yeah her mom is very strict about the rules. She is not allowed to go out after dark, she has never been swimming as she is not allowed to go in the water, she is not allowed to have a social media account. Myreen has questioned her mother on more than one occasion about the rules but her mother has never given her any ...

Myreen: a teenager not allowed to have any social media, who is forced to move every couple of months, who can’t be out after dark, and absolutely NO SWIMMING! Myreen is stunned when she is approached by a man named Oberon, who claims Myreen is a mermaid. A MERMAID?? And not JUST a mermaid, but the Prophesized one: the mermaid destined to destroy Draven, the mega maniac vampire that’s threatening to kill all the shifters and turn the world to...

Myreen’s mother raised her with three rules: 1. Never go out after dark. 2. Never go into large bodies of water. and 3. Stay off social media. Between the rules, their frequent moves, and the years of unanswered questions, Myreen always knew her mother was hiding a deep, dark secret. But, she didn’t know that breaking just one rule would lead to he mother’s death. She certainly never expected to learn that she’s a mermaid shifter and that...

Reading Kindle books is not my favorite thing to do, but I am so glad that I bought this one! Shifted is the first in a series about students at Shifter Academy who are training to live, survive, and thrive in a world where they are at war with the vampires and on the defense against human hunters. Almost every single one of the students have spent their whole lives knowing they were shifters and learning about the powers that came with their shi...

I had the pleasure of receiving an ARC of the first full book of the Shifter Academy. SHIFTEDShifter Academy is a new series that not only has multiple POVs it has…count it 5 authors…Tricia Barr, Angel Leya, Jesse B. Booth, Joanna Reeder, and Alessandra Jay. This is interesting since I feel that i read somewhere that they plan on releasing a book every 6 weeks. http://www.theshifteracademy.com I can’t find where I read that though so maybe ...

I don't read or like shifters, until I tried this book. I did read the prequel. This book is so great. Follow the rules. Every teenager always follows the rules right? What could go wrong? One of the things I really like is, yes she broke the rules, but that is NOT what the book is about. The book is about finding out who she really is and where she fits. It is not like every other book about fitting in. Yes, there are bad guys, a best friend, ne...

I was gifted and advance copy from one of the authors in exchange for an honest review.Whilst I did enjoy this book, there were a few things that let it down for me. The story was well written, the story well paced with just enough intrigue to keep you turning the page and the characters appearances very descriptive. Now for the things I didn't like so much: the lack of communication between Myreen's mother and the teen, by refusing to give any r...

OMG, there is no words for how good this book is. I had a hard time putting the book down. When I get my own classroom again I will have to buy the paperback for my students. I know they will love it. We have Shifters, vampires and more in this book. Mystery, lies, hate, love, and so much of what kids go through to try to fit in.We have Myreen who is a good girl and always follows her mothers 3 rules, until one day she decides she had enough and ...

Intriguing and exciting This was a very enjoyable book and I love reading about all sorts of shifter species. It's different reading a book with so many different species like Phoenix, gryphon, kitsune, dragon, were, mermaids, sirens, selfies, vampires and more. I love how the story has been coming together with all the characters and everything. It was a bit of a slow and different read at first but then it got more and more interesting and inte...

Overall rating: 4.8It just occurred to me that to give a review worthy of this author, I really should start with the blurb. With that said, the blurb is spot on and really should peak a readers interest. After that, potential readers may look to reviews to find out how others feel about reading it. I have no choice but to say, this book truly is worth the read and realistically speaking, you need to clear your schedule before diving into this on...

I so thoroughly enjoyed this first book in this new series and I am so looking forward to the next one. Myreen had always believed that she was just an ordinary girl, albeit with a strange and restrictive curfew. That was until her world was torn apart and her mother was murdered - by vampires. She had never met her father and knew nothing about him. She was then whisked away by a complete stranger to an academy for shifters. Apparently she was a...

Shifted is the first book in a series and it's a fun beginning. Myreen grew up with some strange rules given to her by her mother, and the day she breaks them is the day everything begins to change for her. Shifted follows a variety of characters - different ones per chapter - and it's a well-written, fun book full of vampires weres of differing sorts, selkies and more. The dialogue is good, the internal thoughts of the characters heading each cha...

This is the first Tricia's book I have read and I totally loved it!!!... it is amazingly well written, love the MC, mostly Myreen (the FMC), I can imagine how she will grow up, not just physical but emotionally... love the world Tricia created in this book, the shifter alliance, the plot, the twist and turns you can find in every chapter, the unexpected love they start to feel... but also love the everyday struggles they have, as a "normal" teena...

This was an interesting read for many reasons. The first is the multiple PoV shifts--I didn't count, but maybe 6 or 7? Secondly, I've never read a book by 5 authors before, but I have to say, they worked well together as the scene changes were seamless, and there were no continuity issues I caught. Last, the story was unique and the plot gifted the reader with unexpected surprises. I'm not a fan of the high-school teen stories (mean girls, clique...

An exciting read! I loved the shifter, selkie, and vampire worlds presented in this book. Vivid details make the book even more enjoyable. I really identified with Myreen and Kenzie but loved all the characters. I really liked how the chapters focused on different characters because it allowed me to gain more of an insight into their inner worlds. I am really looking forward to the next installment in this series!

Super surprised!I went into this book like a lot of books, trying to keep an open mind, but I didn’t have to. A lot is planning has been put into this series, and it’s much bigger than your typical YA story. Shifters that I’ve never heard of before, and very developed characters. It’s on the scale of Epic Fantasy while still taking place here in our world. I look forward to book 2.

Couldn't put it dow !I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for more! The characters were so interesting and relatable without being boring and predictable. Independent stories overlapped in engaging ways. The only problem I had was that there were a few editing mistakes. Nothing major, just things that would make you reread a passage because a word was missing, or there was an extra one thrown in.

This book was amazing! I'm not even ashamed to say that I read this in one sitting! Not only are the characters real and handle problems like a real person would but there are SO many different mythical beings that I have no read about in any other books which is a massive bonus for me. I would definitely reccomend this for fans of vampire academy, hex hall, and the nightfall series! I cant wait for the second installment!

Good Overall I enjoyed this book. Having the different views was, very often, quite jarring. It wasn’t all that seamless and I was mainly wanting to be interested in a story line. Never care too much for a story when the main things seem to happen at the very end. Probably will read the next one to see how it goes, then go from there.

To say that I love this book is a huge understatement. Other than the title, I didn’t know anything about the story going into it. It is amazing. The characters are all fierce and fantastic. Kol is definitely my favorite. The story is told from several different viewpoints, which makes it even more interesting. I can’t wait until the next one comes out.

DNF at 31% (about 150 pages in). I couldn't get into this book. The plot was predictable, and I found the main character to be boring. I thought her friend Kenzie was annoying, and the other characters irritating. Honestly, I don't think it was for me. 2 stars.

Easy readThis had potential but I struggled against the mix of everything thrown in the pot. Too many characters so development was minimal and connection not strong, and too many side plots for me. Nice style and nice flow.
