Terrible Things by Beth Bolden

Terrible Things

When Caleb Chance walked out in Detroit five years ago, leaving his band, millions of his fans and his lover behind, Leo knew he could never forgive. Some things, no matter what the cause, are unforgivable. But Leo never expected Caleb to show up again, clean and sober and wanting to get their band, Star Shadow, back together. He definitely never expected to agree to Caleb’s plan. He never expected to confront the love of his life again—or t...

I cried. Like an actual tear rolling down my face cried, that doesn't happen often to me but this book, oh my word this book - so many feels! It's difficult to review it without spoiling the journey so I'll just say it's nothing like your usual "rock god/musicians" romance, it's sort of just out of young adult/new adult feel in tone with characters in their mid 20s but sometimes sounding a bit younger due to the emotional hit they all took five ye...

Terrible Things was an interesting story. While I was reading it, the story felt familiar to me and realized that it was very similar to a true story, with some different twists and turns. Then I told myself that, as long as it wasn't a biography and there is an HEA, I was good with that.I appreciated getting to know all the members of Star Shadow throughout the story. Unfortunately, I felt that some of the sub-characters brought the story down a...

I will never be able to listen to Coldplay again without thinking about Leo and Caleb’s story. Read this book and you will understand why.I must admit that the first few chapters of this book disappointed me. I didn’t like the fact that Caleb forced the group to reunite due to some kind of contractual clause and threat of legal action. I think this bordered extortion and the other band members bent too quickly to the request of Caleb. In addi...

A second chance at love story that broke my heart. Leo and Caleb spent 4 years together starting as teenagers. Being part of a boyband with a management company that refused to acknowledge their relationship ultimately drove a wedge between the two until one day Caleb finally could not take it anymore. Now 5 years later Caleb shows back up in LA and asks Leo for something he does not know if he can provide. I loved every minute of this book and w...

This story had all the feels. Sad moments of heartbreak and loss. The complicated feeling of facing your past and trying to move forward and trying to forgive and be forgiven. The happiness of finding your friend and lover once again. Caleb and Leo are wonderful characters that grabbed me with their messy story and the beauty of their love. Its a slow burn that is definitely worth the read.I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am...

I was a little nervous going into this book because I've been gutted by this author before and I wasn't wrong. Caleb and Leo were so explosive! I will admit that I wasn't sure I wanted Leo to forgive Caleb. It seemed like it would be too much. In the end, after I cried my tears right along with the characters, I feel like they got what they needed even if it took years. Remember, tears can be cleansing and a good book can make your soul sing. You...

Grab some fucking tissues and prepare yourselves. This is a tear jerker in every good and bad way. I’m so in love with this book I can’t form a complete review because my brain is just on the fritz.

Caleb left Leo five years before without a word. Leaving his band and the man he loved behind, with no explanation. Breaking Leo’s heart and his spirit. When Caleb returned, forcing the band to get back together. Hoping it will bring Leo back to him.Leo lost the love of his life when Caleb deserted him. He closed himself off. Afraid to move on, just existing. Then Caleb returns and they both have to decide if they want a future together. The aut...

3.5 / 5 StarsI am afraid I am not a very forgiving person, especially in certain situations. Which I guess it was the main reason I couldn't connect with the characters. I liked the idea this book gave and I was sure I was going to love it. It didn't happen that way, sadly. I liked everyone but Caleb and Leo. The first came back expecting, even if deep inside, to get everything back after his screwed up. The latter acted like he was right all the...

This story broke my heart right from the start. An amazing second chance, slow burn that had everything. Love and pain, addiction and forgiveness. Leo and Caleb were part of a boyband but their lives were changed forever by addiction. Love takes hard work at times and that is clear here as five years later these two face the past and try to move forward, rebuild broken lives and along the way fall in love all over again.

4.5 starsThis is an intense and emotional story of second chances and forgiveness with a lovely slow-burn pace. The writing is beautiful and powerful that had me hooked from the very first page and had me captivated until the very last page. And don’t let the title fool you. This book has the most wonderful and amazing things. The book tells the story of the former members of the band Star Shadow. The focus is on Leo and Caleb, but the other boy...

This is an amazing story and I love everything about it. I was fully engaged from the first page until the last and I could not put it down even though it made me cry. It is beautifully written, very emotional, full of hope, heartbreakingly sad, full of life lessons, deals well with difficult issues, shows how true love can prevail over huge obstacles and all of the characters are incredible. This is one of the few books I have read that made me ...

I want to preface this review by saying that I am incredibly biased when it comes to music in books. Reading/writing is my first love, and music is without a doubt my second. That said, this book was amazing. Leo and Caleb’s love story was an emotional rollercoaster from the very beginning. At first, I won’t lie, I was a little put off by how Caleb just rolled back into Leo’s life and how it seemed to emotionally wreck Leo...and then I got ...

This book started out very strong. I cried two times because I felt for Leo. But the getting together took too long. I started to get impatient (that’s on me, not the writer). Also the heat level was a bit low for my taste. But the drama and angst are spot on!

To nie jest łatwa książka , Caleb walczył/y z uzależnieniem od alkoholu. Leo walczy sam ze sobą. Toczy się wolno , ukazując emocję, nienawiść, miłość, złość. Dobra , polecam

I can't get past the first few chapters. Leo is a character that I have no empathy for. I was really irritated by the unrealistic reactions everyone had to Caleb showing up again.
