*edited to add that I get a little bit long winded toward the middle of the review but there is a TLDR at the bottom if you scroll. A lot.*Chloe is just a regular girl living in a supernatural world. Except, she isn't. Chloe spent her early life working her ass off to get into an ivy league school. She got great grades, ran track, participated in clubs, never ratted out her dad for keeping dead bodies stashed in the basement....Wait. Yeah... that...

Loved it 🎉 can we have the next book now please 🙏🏻

Even though Chloe has done everything right, some think Chloe should have to pay for her father’s sins and a series of attacks has her taking refuge in the notorious Institute of Paranormal Studies. Chloe sees it as a second chance and she believes she has nothing to lose, but nothing could be further from the truth. Levi knows what the sassy woman who entered his domain is at first glance. She is a relic so ancient that even an elder lord desc...

4.5 StarsThis book is a good read. I've been so desperate to read about this new take on Sage's paranormal world and honestly, it was definitely worth the wait. The book got off to a slow start, with a few slow paras scattered throughout the first 60% of the book. Not a lot. But just enough for me not to give this book a perfect rating (even-though it's five star rated by yours truly 😂. There's no half-a-star okay! Might as well highlight 'em ...

So GoodI could not put this book down. Chloe's story is completely engaging and beyond fantastic. I love Levi for her, talk about fate being a b$tch. I highly recommend this book. Another winner for May Sage.

Chloe has a painful family past and seems to be in danger. She lives partly in a shadowy world of magic and vampires, in fact, working for a vampire in a bar. To keep her safe, she is sent to an institute in Scotland where magical people learn. Think of it as a Hogwarts for grown-ups. She meets a variety of supernatural beings, including vampires, huntsmen, and dragons.I thought the first part of the book was a bit of an information dump, trying ...

I quite enjoyed this entertaining, well written paranormal romance. It’s an interesting world, where supernaturals or ‘sups’ live openly amongst humans who are called ‘regulars’. We meet Chloe, a regular who’s come to the Institute of Supernatural Studies in Scotland to get her master’s degree while staying under the radar from those who wish her harm. Chloe is a smart, friendly and charismatic young woman who gets along with everyo...

Well written and unique story full of mystery, suspense and dangerI really enjoyed this series opener, full of mystery, action, suspense and danger. It is not truly a romance story, though we do end up with one, because May Sage seems to love an HEA as much her readers do. Uncovering the truth about Chloe, with her serial killer father, and meeting all the side characters in this fascinating world had me flipping pages and on edge with my guesses...
Great but not perfectI didn't feel like it lacked anything until I realised that I was almost done, the romance hadn't developed, and it was a stand alone and would not being continuing with the same characters as the main focus. Then I was feeling the smallest bit let down by the romance. While the conflict will remain the same, from what I can tell, we won't be able to see the main characters develop in their relationship. Which would necessari...

I am a fan of May Sage's paranormal fantasy romances, which are generally lighter (if steamy by young adult standards). For me, this novel is a significant departure in style. She still has the feisty independent heroine and the mysterious hero (?). This is the first time that she ventured into the paranormal university/high school genre. I was expecting something like the usual teen/young adult romance set in a Hogwarts-style world and school. T...

Omg, this book is so good! At first, I was like - another vampire romance also with an academy. But.. I now know I couldn't be more wrong in my thinking!Paranormal series from Ms. Sage are ADDICTIVE, to say the least. ADF is a book one in stores of standalone romances. This is a whole story.Characters were well developed and made me feel everything whole reading (and that's what I'm always looking for in book I read - emotions, characters, and pl...

As Darkness Falls by May Sage is an amazing read about the beginning of vampires. This story had me enthralled with its entrancing storyline about its unique main character Chloe Miller. Chloe Miller is a young woman trying to survive in a world that is turned against her because of her family lineage. As the plot develops, Chloe will eventually figure out why this has happened and eventually who she can trust. This is a fascinating and unusually...

This was a great start for what I hope is a long series! I am totally bummed to have to wait a month for the next one to come out! I like the world building, and the dialog. Both well done. There were a few times when I felt like the heroine was acting a little young for her age, but that could be because there are so many books out there with 19 year olds acting with the wisdom of 40 year olds. There was one big question answered before the end ...

Back in Love!I haven't felt a pull towards Ms. Sage's books since she stopped writing her Fairy Tale series, but with this incredible book, she has me hooked and back in love with her work once again! Everything about this book was intriguing and spot on, with a well developed cast of characters and captivating storyline all set in the richly detailed world of the Institute. I loved our heroine Chloe's spunky attitude and innate optimism and kind...

Loved it!!!OH MY GOD!!! This is amazing!!! Talk about a unique Vampire tale. I absolutely loved it. Born vampires. Turned vampires. Witches. Huntsmen. The list of paranormal creatures goes on. The story line is unique due to the world it is set in. But the “ordinary girl whom is actually all powerful” concept has been done before. However this one kept me guessing right until the neck snap. I love how strong Chloe is. How resilient. Her world...

Intriguing, engaging, well written and funWell-written, with complex, nuanced characters who are both other and utterly relatable, "After Darkness Falls" is a well-built world as plausible as it is exotic. It's real to the point that it stirs our ancient human suspicion that there's more going on in our real world than meets the eye. Chloe feels like someone anyone would like to know, Levi is terrifying even as he's somehow relatable. The action ...

Fantastic vampire romance I absolutely loved it and this is Chloe’s and Levi’s story, there are so many different supernatural characters in this story which has made it a real treat to read. Because of what Chloe’s father had done the victims family wants revenge and they want it from Chloe, Levi has been sent to kill Chloe but he just can’t do it. I hope that there is another book with their story because there are a lot of un-answered ...

I really enjoyed this entertaining, well written story. It’s an interesting world, where supernaturals or ‘sups’ live openly amongst humans who are called ‘regulars’. It has a well developed cast of characters and captivating storyline with many twist, all set in a richly private school. I liked our heroine Chloe's spunky attitude and innate optimism and kindness despite all the negativity she's experienced in her past. Everything moves...

Entrancing new worldThis was a different take on the vampire romance stories i have read. I enjoyed that it gave short back story but didn't take up the whole book for you to understand the why. I want to see where it goes from here being a the 1st in the story it was developing the characters but halfway through it gets interesting. A bit of a cliffhanger but you still get some interaction between the main characters as the male lead was missing...

Five starts for May Sage’s lates!! I’m so excited for this series vampire reads are some of my favorites and I glad to say May Sage knocked it out with this one and am so looking for to what she has in store. Chloe is a fledging unaware of her nature and the power that she hold and I’m going to stop right there because I don’t want to give to much away I just recommend you read this book and the prequel Blood From A Stone which features C...

I Loved ItI really did love it. I know it's supposed to be a standalone, but Chloe's story is clearly not over and her relationship with Levi has barely begun. Based on the title of the next book, though, it seems someone else will become the MC. I look forward to it, but I truly want more of Chloe. Still, all of the characters interest me. I want to know who is after Chloe and I hope all of her friends stand by her. I hope she can help her ances...

It’s worth the time to readThis was, surprisingly enough, not so much romance as it was Urban Fantasy. It has some romance beats In it but the predominant story is the MC’s journey of discovery. It is a well told story that moves along at a nice pace and each step sets up for the big reveal near the end. Good characters and development. Interested to see where this series goes.

Say hello to my new favorite after Frost Bound Throne! This book was s good! Not necessarily a slow burn more like a consistent diet of good writing, good pacing, new twists and turns! Very light in the romance but I was ok with that. Meet Chloe, whose dad is a serial killer. And now his victims family members are after her. And so apparently is every one else in the world. Talk about a great start to series! I can’t wait for book 2! Best part ...

Finally a great non-reverse harem book! This book was awesome! Sage has done me good with this book. The heroine was real, compassionate and strong. No love triangles and a whole lot of power. I LOVE heroines who start out with nothing but double up in power and don't change. In a world filled with reverse harem it was good to find a book without four lovers who do nothing but have sex and criticize. Thank you Sage- thank you.

This was amazing. I was hooked from the beginning to the end. Great characters that I can't wait to read their stories and an awesome world. I will definitely be looking for more from this author. I also loved the fact that deleted scenes were included at the end it actually brought some of the characters together more and I had a better understanding of some of the scenes. .I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily le...

Review for After Darkness Fall: A Vampire RomanceI think this is a wonder book. It was a new refreshing vampire romance that introduced new ideas and was simply wonderful to read. I love the main character cchloe. She was refreshing and new. She is not totally a bad assed but also compassionate and funny. Love this new vampire series. I will get it a 5 (five). OMG, I love this story! Chloe is gutsy/fearless, has almost no filter, is funny, and likable. But what is she, really? Creatures like her, except for those who want to kill her. Levi doesn’t know what to do with her... I’m bursting to say more, but! no spoilers...This story is a well written, entertaining and riveting story that I couldn’t put down. I can’t wait for the continuation of this series!

Loved it!First let me just say, it has been awhile since I have loved a main character and their romantic partner so much. Chloe and Levi are so amazing together. The way their relationship evolved felt real, not forced and they just fit. I love the setting and history of the world, the way it comes alive in my head. May Sage did a wonderful job on this book, and I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Great start to a seriesI really liked this book. Its a vampire series, where there are 7 houses and they live in a magically protected place with a college. This book is about a girl at that college. You learn about the history of everything when Chloe does, so at times things can be a little confusing. Nonetheless it is a really good book I read in one sitting, and I recommend it.
